Green Mango Cocktail Recipe

I had this green mango smoothie cocktail when we went to club in Malate in Manila, Philippines.  I had several cocktails all to myself but I found the green mango cocktail the best of the lot.

At first I thought I was not going to like it. I was thinking it would be so sour that it would be undrinkable.

Much to my surprise, it was delicious, it was refreshing and most of all, it was alcoholic. 🙂 It was a real revelation.

There was a very strong taste of the mango that I was more than inclined to enquire if they had bagoong to go with it. LOL

Unfortunately, no they don’t have bagoong so had to settle for pizza.

Anyways the green mango smoothie left an indelible memory with me that I have searched for a recipe that would taste like it.

Below seems to fit the bill.


Green Mango Cocktail Recipe


1/4 cup sugar (can be substituted with 4 tablespoons of honey)

1/2 cup hot water

2 unripe mangoes, peeled and de-stoned, then cut in cubes

2 cups crush ice

50ml vodka (do not add this if you want it non-alcoholic)


Dissolve the sugar or honey into the hot water and then set aside to cool.

Using a food processor, blend the mango cubes with the cooled sugar syrup and crushed ice.  Blend until smooth and creamy.

Just before serving add the vodka and give it a good stir.
