Tidbits & Factoids 🙂

  • Debut appearance: Super Idol
  • He studied at Sichuan Southwest College of Civil Aviation (SSCCA) to become a flight attendant.
  • He became the poster boy for admission at SSCCA.
  • He also apparently became a professional image spoke-person for flight attendants.
  • He debuted in showbiz before fully realising the life of a flight attendant.
  • By 2016, he won a singing competition, which became his ticket en route to showbusiness.
  • Shen Yue thinks he is childish.  Well he is only 19.  (He is now 20.)
  • Shen Yue said that Dylan taught her how to kiss, although she is Dylan’s first (screen) kiss but of course he is not Shen Yue’s first as the honour goes to Hu Yi Tian while doing the drama A Love So Beautiful.
  • Dylan absolutely cannot stand being compared to Hu Yi Tian.  They are different people.  Full stop.
  • He likes rapping.
  • Favourite food: Sichuan food
  • He doesn’t like lamb (meat) 🙂

Updates:
  • Oct 2018  Such a shame, it looks like Wang He Di is not starring in the Return of the Condor Heroes 2018 after all.
  • 28 Dec 2018 – Though not official yet, it is very very likely that Wang He Di is the new Ning Que in the Season 2 of Ever Night, which has officially started shooting though quietly.  He had been spotted in the set along with Song Yiren, who is reprising her role as Sang Sang.

  1. I have to say, Dylan Wang made DaoMing Si his own. He is comparable to the likes of Jun Matsumoto’s iconic Japanese’s Domyouji Tsukasa and Lee Min Ho’s Korean version, Gu Jun-pyo.
Dylan Wang has more than enough swagger to make his version of DaoMing Si influential in itself.
Dylan Wang is certainly an actor to watch in the future.

  2. Hi Cincheeeee
Thank you for allowing us a glimpse of how the new version of Meteor Garden is perceived or received in China.
To be honest, I think I mentioned that Shen Yue was rather lacklustre in her portrayal of ShanCai initially in my review of Meteor Garden 2018. But as the drama progressed she has improved but not her wardrobe, sadly. Why did they continually dressed her in bulky sweatshirts, which did not flatter her stature? They swamped her tiny frame with huge jackets, boyfriend jeans and clunky footwares. These made her looked rather dumpy. I saw a lot of her photoshoots as Shen Yue rather than Shan Cai and she’s gorgeous. She shines, she’s luminous and very attractive. They made her Shancai too plain and ordinary and had so much issues that in one of Dylan Wang’s interviews, he said that he would not fancy this version of Shancai in real life. LOL . I thought immediately, I don’t blame you, mate!
Even the fashion sense of the F4 is more reminiscence of 2001 rather than 2018. Probably the weather was really cold when the drama was being filmed.
Probably that was why the actors were attired in huge bulky jackets and coats, which were often ill-fitting. The shoulder pads and length were so 80s.
Just a few episodes ago, Dao Ming Si’s trainers were shown in close up. They were worn and old. Surely a billionaire’s son would not be seen dead with dirty and old trainers. LOL
But having said all of that, being based here in the UK, I am enjoying this drama so much and thankful that Netflix had picked it to show worldwide.
I have been watching raw ones and so thankful when a subbed one becomes available. Having seen the older version of Taiwanese, as well as the Japanese, Korean, Chinese (with Zhang Hans), this 2018 has its own charm. It will be as iconic as its predecessors. It has its own fans and supporters who would one day say that they grew up watching it.
As to the best ‘Dao Ming Si’ I love all the versions, good choice of actors but I have to say I have a special fondness for the Korean, Lee Min Ho, not because he is my favourite actor. Actually I have only seen, I think two of his dramas: Boys Over Flowers and Heirs. He just really looked the part. He had that spoiled, over-indulged and vindictive look of a boy, who has everything handed to him on a golden plate.
And lastly well done China. In my opinion, China is giving South Korea a run for their money. I am currently more into Chinese dramas than Kdramas. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. I’m just watching this version and I can say is better than the old one. This boy has charm and personality!
