December Goddess: Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

There can only be one goddess for December for GlobalGranary.Org.  Catherine Mountbatten-Windson or better known as Kate Middleton, is the Duchess of Cambridge, the consort to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.

KateMiddletonwrapping1 (1)Kate has very recently been proclaimed as the best dressed woman for 2014.  With her modern take on 50s style, she easily trounched the fashion conscious women of the 21st century around the world.  Booty dressing by Kim Kardashian did not stand a chance with Kate’s fresh and chic style.

Even Victoria Beckham, another fashion icon, came only second to Kate.

This goes to show that you do not have to show all that you have got all the time (excepting by accident, lol).  Least is more
Let’s concentrate on GlobalGranary’s Numero Uno’s fashionista instead.

This was apparently the dress (if you can call it that. hahaha) that launched the romance of Prince William and his beloved Kate Middleton.

November Goddess: Philippines’ Marian Rivera

Darna Marian Rivera 002Once again, the Philippines have proven that it is a country of outstandingly beautiful women. Our records in beauty contest can easily prove this claim. 🙂 As of writing, Miss Earth title was won by a Filipina just a few days ago.

The Philippine showbiz is littered with beautiful men and women, one more beautiful than the next. Their beauty is of course enhanced by many factors such as a membership to a dermatological clinics and sometimes photoshopping. Be that as it may no amount of photoshopping can make a woman drop-dead gorgeous if there is no beauty there to begin with.

And the most beautiful one of them all as voted by FHM Phillipines for the last several years is Marian Rivera.

No one is more queenly that Marian, hence she is currently known as the Primetime Queen and her wedding slated at the end of next month is touted as a Royal wedding as Marian is marrying her real life prince, Dingdong Dantes, who happens to be the Primetime King!

Marian Rivera tied the knot to Dingdong Dantes, the prime king of Philippine television.

As can be expected from a goddess, Marian was breathtakingly stunning in her wedding gown, designed by a Dubai based Filipino designer, Michael Cinco, who has managed to break through the cut-throat international market of haute couture.

To Marian and Dingdong, Best Wishes and Congratulations on your recent nuptial.  We wish you loads of happiness and lots of babies! 😉

October Goddess: Victoria Beckham

There are so many stand-outs for the month of October but we think our final choice for October goddess is the most deserving one.

She is a true inspiration to women. She works hard, she has discipline and she knows what she wants and goes for it. She was so successful in her pursuit of her ambition that she climbed to the very top of Britain’s top 100 entrepreneurs.

Victoria can really be seen busy promoting her work, her fashion career. She is not like other celebrities who just put their names to endorse a product.

GlobalGranary.Org congratulate Victoria Beckham for this new stage in her career. We wish you longevity in fashion.

Victoria Beckham named entrepreneur of the year

Victoria Beckham has topped a list of Britain’s top 100 entrepreneurs by Management Today magazine.

They praised her “finely tuned business acumen” for expanding her fashion empire into a business with a £30m turnover and a staff of 100.

Editor Matthew Gwyther accepted that some may “scoff” at the fact that the former Spice Girl came top.

But he said she had created “a company that is both real and wildly successful”.

Gwyther admitted “some will say she’s never been taught how to cut a pattern, or iron a pleat on a fashion course… Doubters will claim she’s just the wife of the world’s most famously over-tattooed ex-footballer. It’s all come to her far too easily.”

But he pointed out that “celebrity has long been a powerful commercial tool” and called her “an adept exploiter of her own celeb value”.

And he said doubters could not argue with the figures as she has achieved – a sales growth of 2,900% and employment growth of 3,233% over the past five years, adding “her numbers are impressive”.

The former Spice Girl launched her fashion label in 2008 and by 2011, she won designer brand of the year at the British Fashion Awards.

In September, she opened her first shop in London’s Mayfair.

Her company includes a lower-priced Victoria line and she also sells luxury handbags for prices up to £18,000 each.

The magazine estimated her wealth at £210m.

July Goddess: Imelda Marcos, Granddaughter of Maria Clara

Imelda Marcos

Imelda Marcos

I hate ugliness. You know I am allergic to ugliness.
– Imelda Marcos

Imelda Marcos was once the Muse of Manila in 1953.

July Goddess: Imelda Marcos, Granddaughter of Maria Clara

True, it seems Imelda Marcos can trace her ancestry right from the pages of Jose Rizal’s novel’ Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not).

I am currently reading a very interesting book about Meldy.  Apparently the young Imelda, who tasted how to be as rich as Croesus, actually grew up in a garage with her siblings and her mother, while her half brothers and half sisters lived in the big house.

Imelda experienced a lot of disappointment  and poverty and even degradation while growing up but these did not stop her from following her dreams.

she got to where she wanted to be, she made the most of it.  Imelda shopped and shopped and shopped some more.

When Ferdinand Marcos and Imelda were finally deposed from office, the world learned that Imelda kept 3000-6000 pairs of shoes, thus, her name became synonymous with shoe addiction or for women with serious shoes buying habits.

I did not have three thousand pairs of shoes, I had 1060.

May Goddess: Emma Stone

There are a few I can think of who are more than suitable to be GlobalGranary’s May goddess but there is someone who has the edge, slightly I have to say.

This woman is none other that Emma Stone, who over the last few years has built herself her own cute but very pronounced niche in the Hollywood scene.

Emma is one very talented young lady. She recently proved her prowess at miming into the music of rap artists during a guesting at a tv show fronted by Jimmy Fallon.

Emma is busy promoting the new superhero/action film Spiderman. She is starring in this film with her real beau, Andrew Garfield.

Philippines’ Kris Aquino has a one on one inteview with Emma Stone during a presscon for Spiderman held in Singapore.

Kris Aquino found the interview with Emma not so nice; this was shown on KrisTV where you can see that they did not develop a rapport. Kris pointed out that Emma was probably tired from doing 24 – 32 interviews during the presscon.

Anyway I watched the interview in youtube and I did find it rather stilted because Kris and Emma have different brands of sense of humour. Emma has a dry sense of humour probably influenced by her British boyfriend, Andrew Garfield.

I like Emma more now because she like Mark-Francis of Made in Chelsea. lol

Kris also said that she found Emma very beautiful but so thin. (Size 0?) Emma does look gorgeous as seen below in classic style dressing.

March Goddess: Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley is a GlobalGranary’s firm favourite.  We think that she is a very talented young lady, very forthright, very intelligent, very chic and classy   – a true English Rose.  We first got to know her when she stole the show from Parminder Nagra, the lead in Bend it like Beckham.  We fell in love with the tomboyish Keira in that film.

Keira has become a proper and true A-lister with films and movies bulging in her portfolio.

Keira seems a very down to earth girl.  It was recently announced that Keira, despite her millions, gives herself a salary of £30,000 a year, thereby not make her friends feel uneasy in her company.  What a girl!

Keira is an appropriate icon for the coming spring.  Aww look, she has some photos wearing green… 😉 Spring!

March Goddess: Keira Knightley

“Be happy in your body. It’s the only one you’ve got, so you might as well like it.”
– Keira Knightley

Did you know?

Our beautiful Keira Knightley did not use to have a television?  Apparently she was so busy flying from one place to another that she did not really have time to watch the box, ergo no point in buying a television.  Very fair, we should think but apparently our Keira was hounded by the TV licence people.  They chased her to pay for the licence.

The latest though is that Keira finally bought a telly for the sake of her favourite football man, Gary Neville.  Apparently, Keira is an avid footie fan and she realised that there comes a point when watching the beautiful game in one’s laptop does not suffice anymore.  Yippeee Keira has now officially joined the likes of us who pay ridiculous amount for a TV Licence.

Kate Moss @ 40

The longevity of Kate Moss’s career is astounding. She is not particularly tall to be the ideal supermodel nor the most beautiful and yet most of the supermodels she started with have now been “retired” but Kate is still going from strength to strength.

She is still a regular cover of magazines, she is as visible as ever in any party circuit, she is still a favourite muse on music videos.

Kate has a checkered past but she seems to have a teflon ability. No matter how heinous and destructive the gossips are about her or what is actually happening to her, Kate just gets up and dusts herself off and away she goes again as if nothing much had happen.

Kate is uber-cool, her waif-like beauty is so beguiling.

At 40, Kate still got it, whatever “it” is. She is Playboy magazine’s 60 years anniversary cover and it seems they made the right choice. Kate is simply stunning.

GlobalGranary wishes Kate Moss a Happy 40th!!!

Marge Simpson The Fashion Icon

I have never seen Marge looked more elegant. The Victoria couture is just the perfect fit for the long suffering Marge Simpson.

To Victoria, you have really made it now. Having Marge model you design is better than any awards!
