Budbod a la Bohol Recipe

Budbod, a specialty of Bohol is also called Malaking Suman (large suman) because of its quantitive size compared to other sumans.

This is not the only thing that makes this yummy Bohol rice cake different from any other rice cake.

This suman incorporates an extract of ginger that give it a spicier taste.

Budbod Recipe

Ingredients :

• 1 kilo glutinous rice (malagkit)
• 3 1/2 cups sugar
• 2 tbsp salt
• 1 tsp ginger extract
• 3 cups coconut milk

Procedures :

• Using a thick bottom pan, boil the glutinous rice, with the sugar, salt, and extract or juice from the ginger.
• Just before the rice cooked, turn off the heat and allow the rice to cool down.
• When the rice is cool enough to handle, grab a good handful, and wrap it using wilted banana leaves.
• Repeat this until all the rice has been wrapped.
• Steam for at least 30 minutes or until the rice is cooked through.
• Serve and enjoy with a hot mug of ginger tea.
