Quick Precis
It is about three women who were about to turn thirty.
Episode 1
This first episode introduces the three women who were almost 30.
Man-Ni is still single and worked in a top-end shop, the M (Mishil) Store.
Xiao Qin is married to a man who was so obsessed with his tropical fish tanks that he does not have much time for her. Xiao Qin works in a marketing department and treated like a dogsbody in a busy office because she can’t say no even if the task is outside the remit of her job. She is a best friend with Gu Jian.
Gu Jian is married to Xu Huan Shan, a firework designer and CEO of their company. They had just upgraded to a bigger and posher apartment so they could send their only son to the best kindergarten in town.
Episode 2
Poor Man Ni had an attack of allergy during the day that Mrs Chen was just about to come and pay for her jewelry order.
Gu Jian’s son was rejected by the kindergarten. It started so well as well, the child was well-coached but due to too many questions, he got tired especially when he was asked what was the capital of the country, Instead of saying Beijing, he kept murmuring arm, arm and then bit the interviewer in the arm.
Gu Jian tried to overcome this little hiccough by going to the top where Monet’s Waterlilies was displayed in Mrs Wang’s apartment on the highest floor, the 21st floor. Mrs. Wang was one of the ladies who lunch. With her wealth, she is very influential at the kindergarten because of her huge donations and patronage.
Man Ni was going for promotion. It seemed it did not go too well.
Her trouble did not stop there because she suddenly had a backache. It got worse because when she was talking on the phone with her mother, she just suddenly collapsed.
Episode 3
Man-ni ended up in the hospital with acute nephritis, which she got from holding on going to toilet during working hours. Her mother was worrying so much about her and Man-ni ended up comforting her.
Xiao Qin was pregnant but her husband reminded her that they talked about not being ready to have a baby yet so he said that she should have an abortion.
They went as far as the hospital but in the end, Xiao Qin said that she had to reschedule as she was needed urgently at the office. In fact, she went to see Gu Jian to ask her opinion about having the baby on her own.
Gu Jian did not pull any punches, she told Xiao Qin that having a baby is hard.
Wang Man Ni started going on blind dates to please her mother. Her first date was an annoying social climber.
Xu Huan Shan told his wife that there was a girl in the office who bought food for him but pretended that she cooked it herself. The girl then started crying to say that she did not feel confident in the office because she does not know everything. She finds it hard to learn new things.
Xu Huan Shan told the girl to give herself time as she had only been there for a couple of months.
Gu Jian went to the office the next day and showed the girl that she was trying to usurp her territory but she is barred.
Loving this drama.
Episode 4
Chen Yu was really annoyed that Xiao Qin is determined to have the baby.
She told her husband that she envied Gu Jian’s life because she has a husband who was happy to help her do the laundry without even being asked and their child makes their home lively. Referencing Chen Yu washing his clothes only.
Xiao Qin said she wanted something like it and perhaps their own child would make all the difference.
Chen Yu’s brother was the chauffeur of Gu Jian and her husband who heard them talking about Xiao Qin’s pregnancy. He reported this immediately to their mother.
Chen Yu was really upset because he doesn’t want a baby.
Meanwhile, Gu Jian managed to get her son to the kindergarten. But the chairman of the PTA was like a mean girl and making Gu Jian’s life miserable.
Fortunately, Gu Jian is not the type to be bullied.
Man Ni had been promoted as the supervisor.
Episode 5
I love this drama. It just glides from episode to episode.
Chen Yu told Xiao Qin the real reason that he does not want a baby. He feels that we will never be good enough to father a any child. He then told her that his own father left them when he was very young. He then had to look after his young brother, who got into all sorts of trouble and his mother beat him up for his brother’s misdemeanor.
Xiao Qin’s mother found out that her daughter is pregnant. She went to Xiao Qin’s and arranged for her to have an ultrasound. Chen Yu went with them rather reluctantly at first but he was glad when he heard the heartbeat of the embryo.
He heard his mother in law and Xiao Qin buying baby things including a cot online. He said that they don’t have enough space for the cot and the many baby things they were buying.
His mother in law said that was no problem as the baby paraphernalia would stay at her house.
Chen Yu thought about it and then he started measuring his fish tank. I think he was going to sell it to make room for the baby stuff.
Gu Jian had to pacify her temperamental husband who had been fighting with Mr Wan, their number one client. She had to go behind her husband’s back to apologise to Mr Wan, who was a bit of a pervert who told her that he would only continue doing business with her husband if she sleeps with Mr Wan.
Gu Jian told Mr Wan that he was a scum and that her husband was right not to do business with him.
Unfortunately for Gu Jian, this was only the start of a very stressful day. She found out from her housekeeper that her son had not come home as he was at a party at the PTA Chairman’s house.
When she got there, her son was nowhere to be seen but she heard a voice crying to be let out of the room.
She went to find him and he was locked in.
The Chairman was unrepentant and said it was the boy who went to the room and locked himself in.
Gu Jian reassured her son and calm him down and took him by the door. She told him to wait for her.
She removed her watch and her heels and pushed the chairman and another woman into the room, where they locked her son. She beat them both up.
Satisfying.
The PTA chairman said she was going to call the police and Gu Jian said she was going to call the police for the chairman taking her son without her permission and that was kidnapping.
Love it.
Poor Man-ni! Her life is getting really complicated. Having been promoted to a supervisory position, she ended up being accused of taking a client’s points to pass them as her own which is a sackable offense.
She had now to find evidence to exonerate herself.
Exciting stuff.
Episode 6
Man-ni couldn’t find a witness or evidence to prove her innocence. And as such the management said that they would alert every shop and boutique of her misdemeanor after she had been fired.
At the last moment, Xiao Qin came through for her. Xiao Qin said that it was easy to prove that Man-ni was innocent because she heard and saw someone asking that the points should be added to Man Ni’s Advantage Card.
It turned out that the woman who had been trying to set Manni up was behind this latest issue. The girl was fired.
Chen Yu was beginning to warm up to the idea of becoming a father.
Zhong Xiao Yang who was supposed to be mentored by Xiao Qin was being transferred to another department. But before he left he asked Xiao Qin if she had ever declined someone asking her for a favour. At that moment a co-worker asked her to fetch something from the printer.
Zhong Xiao Yang told her that this was her chance.
Xiao Qin told her co-worker to go get the document from the printer himself.
Xiao Qin was asked by her boss to see her. Xiao Qin was thinking she might be punished for interfering with the Man Ni’s case but actually the boss said that she will be transferred to another department.
Xiao Qin declined though despite the transfer was a promotion. She told her boss that she cannot take the position for personal reasons. She had not informed them of her pregnancy yet.
Gu Jian found out from Chen Xu that Li Ke, the girl who had been circling her husband that she was instrumental in Huan Shan attacking Mr Wan. Li Ke apparently incited Huan Shan to be really furious with Mr Wan.
Gu Jian fired Li Ke.
Huan Shan was against the firing of Li Ke but Gu Jian told him that there was no another way. She said that they don’t need someone who is a fire raiser in a firework company. They have come a long way for this kind of madness.
Without Mr Wan’s business, Gu Jian and Huan Shan remortgaged their posh apartment.
Mrs Wang had taken Gu Jian under her wing and brought her to meet the other affluent ladies to their sewing class.
After the class, they had a groupie. Each of the ladies had the same Hermes grab bags while Gu Jian had a shoulder bag.
On their Moments/Wechat, Gu Jian was cut off from the photo because she did not belong as she did not have the ‘bag’.
Gu Jian asked Xiao Qin to introduce her to someone who could get the bag for her.
Episode 7
It was Man Ni who got her the limited edition Hermes bag.
Gu Jian said that the Hermes was more than just a job, it is a ticket to the heart of the ‘women who lunch’ well take tea anyway, because after they oohed and ahhed at her new limited edition bag, Mrs Wang sent her to the kitchen to bake and basically treated like the hired help.
Gu Jian can just take about enough without saying something and she spoke to Mrs Wang. She told Mrs Wang that she had expensive things everywhere around her but they are not the current must-have and also her guests were not really impressed with the tea because it was a high tea, which basically was originally meant for maids and low tea is for the gentry. She made Mrs Wang realised that she was a nouveau riche who lacks sophistication. Gu Jian told her that with her help she could put Mrs Wang in the middle of the group and queen it.
Meanwhile, Man Ni was rewarded with a cruise to Europe.
Poor Xiao Qin, she was desolate from having found out that she had had a spontaneous abortion. She blamed her husband from not being sad enough for the baby loss.
Episode 8
Man Ni was having the time of her life at the cruise where she met a personable man who was very attentive to her.
Meanwhile back in China, Poor Xiao Qin was having problems with Chun Yu due to a lack of communication. Xiao Qi felt that the loss of their baby did not affect him at all. In fact, he got nasty when he found some of his fish floating dead on the fish tank as his mother in law thought that to save money on the electricity bill, she should switch off the electric. She, however, completely forgot to switch the electric on the fish tank back on.
Chun was supposed to take a week off to look after Xiao Qin but he failed to tell her that there is a massive problem at work which might mean him losing his job. As he did not say anything Xiao Qin, she thought he was just totally uncaring.
Gu Jian enrolled her son to a horseriding school because she heard that children who can ride horses would more likely to get a placement at school abroad.
Her son though absolutely hate riding and told his father that he actually hates horses now. Xuan Shan was beginning to doubt all their expensive plans for their son. Perhaps they were pushing him too much and he was becoming an unhappy boy.
Unfortunately, Gu Jian was not in a frame of mind to listen as she was living the life she wanted in her son.
Episode 9
Nothing but thirty briefly intersected with Twenty Your Life On.
Man Ni who came back from her cruise having refused to go to Iceland with the lovely man found out about Xiao Qin’s miscarriage.
With Gu Jian they tried to cheer Xiao Qin up who was very depressed.
They ended up in the university where they sat in a class. They overheard the twenties talking about being wary of turning thirty.
Gu Jian, Xiao Qin and Man Ni actually think that being thirty was better than being twenty but not too sure about bein forty.
Episode 10
This episode is mainly about Gu Jian’s father who opted to go to a nursing home rather than be a burden if he stayed with them.
Episode 11
The man that Man NI met at the cruise suddenly turned up at her work. He bought a lot of things and then gave her the door key of the hotel he was staying in.
Man-ni decided to live life to the fullest and run excitedly to meet the man. She kissed him as soon as he opened the door to her.
She found out that he was 37 years old, a Chinese American who is based in Hong Kong.
Episode12
Xu Huan Xian seemed to have met a kindred spirit while visiting and surveying Mr Yu’s park. The girl is happy and easygoing and absolutely nuts about fireworks just like Huan Xian.
Watch out Gu JIan.
Man NI found out that her treat to Vanuatu from her new boyfriend was meant for his ex girlfriend. Suddenly she did not want to be there and said she was going home.
When she arrived back in China, she found that her boyfriend had followed her back. Ahh
Nut poor Xiao Qin! She had a very dramatic episode. First of, her brother-in-law was up to mischief again. He was caught red-handed trying to sell counterfeit branded sneakers. Chen Yu had had enough of his brother and said to leave him to rot in jail.
Xiao Qin thought that it was wrong so she asked Gu Jian for help.
Then it was her 30th birthday. She was very excited. She told her husband that she wanted to celebrate the day just the two of them.
She went shopping for a beautiful steel-grey dress which suited her so well and had brand new high heals and newly coiffeured hair.
But it immediately went wrong. The lawyer tried to call her husband who did not reply so they called her.
Then she tried to call her husband but he did not answer. Then he waited for her at her office which was already shut for the day, while she was walking in the rain and can’t contact him because someone knock into her and made her drop her phone.
She walks home and she got there, she got annoyed as she can’t open the door, the door that she had told her husband to replace many many many times.
Her husband was there at home and they started arguing, She then notice that Picachu, he cat had got out because her husband had left the door open.
She was so annoyed she took some his fish and threw them on the floor which annoyed her husband.
She then said she can no longer bear their life and wanted a divorce.
He agreed immediately and told her to meet at a 8am at the registrar to file a divorce. He added that the one who does not show is a loser.
She cannot take it anymore and left. She saw a still open bakery.
She stayed at a hotel and had her birthday cake wishing that the days to come will be happier that today.

Xiao Qin moved back to her marital house because the apartment she was going to rent was only available after a month.
Episode 16
While Gu Jian was networking her head’s off to expand their business to include a tea plantation, Huan Xian was flirting this a very touchy feeling girl.
Gu Jian was so busy she missed her son’s school performance. Huan Xian was upset that she was taking too much on her plate and might be neglecting their son.
Now, Gu Jian thing that the best solution to their childcare problem was to hire a nanny but Huan Xian was not happy but told her to do whatever she wanted.
This little contentious issue was enough for Huan Xian to start a little flirtation with the overly friendly girl he met during his business trip.
He was hiding their texting from Gu Jian. Bastard!
When Gu Jian tried to get money from the business, the accountant would not release the money until Mr Xu (Huan Xian) gives the order.
Meanwhile, it looks like Xiao Qin is being pursued by her younger colleague, Xiao Yang.
It seemed that now that she and Chen Yu are divorced, he was move attentive to her.
Poor, Man Ni thought the assistant was in the bag but a girl with plenty of qualification was hired by the main office. She is Daisy and she’s very independent and confident which making Man Ni, nervous.
Episode 17
Gu Jian subleases her dessert eatery to get the money for the tea plantation. Still, Huan Xian was not enthusiastic about her new venture.
It seemed the nanny issue had been put to rest because their son absolutely hated having a nanny.
Gu Jian promised her son, they are not hiring the nanny.
This seemed to have done the trick for Huan Xian because he calmed down and told his flirty text mate to keep the text purely business.
Poor Man Ni finally pinned down her boyfriend to make them official but she was heartbroken when he told her that he was a confirmed bachelor, he will never going to get married, ever.
Xiao Qin was surprised how attentive Chen Yu was. He started cooking for her and listened and gave her advice about her troubles at work.
Episode 18
It was Gu Jian’s birthday. She had a grand 30th birthday thrown my her husband. Their love seemed to have been rekindled.
It was a beautiful alfresco dinner where he promised her that he will ever only going to love her in his entire life.
This is scene is a big alert. When a drama husband/boyfriend promises to adore you for the rest of his life in the beginning or towards the middle of the drama, it means the opposite.
Lin You You, the flirty girl did not get the memo. She was like a limpet and would not take a hint.
So despite the assurance, Gu Jian might still get a surprise about her husband.
Episode 19
The bastard Huan Shan took his wife and son with him to Mr Yu’s out of town work.
Dirty You You continues to seduce him with everything she’s got including playing football.
Huan Shan was very happy playing football while his wife and son were left alone in the hotel.
He was like a naughty little boy when he got back and saw his missus and son already asleep.
He was still grinning happily looking at his cheating face in the bathroom mirror. He knew he was flirting with danger and not really putting a stop to it. He did feel slight guilt when he noticed than Gu Jian had already applied toothpaste to his toothbrush.
Lin You You was so happy to see the U U in the sky during the fireworks night which gave her an idea that her feelings for Huan Shan were mutual.
But then she saw him hugging his wife and son at the firework display.
However she was not prepared to let go of Huan Shan without a fight. She texted him why put UU in the sky for her. He told her that it was for memory. He was leaving town the next day.
Manni is loving the good life that her boyfriend is showing her. She met Amanda, a manager from Hong Kong’s M. Amanda learned that Manni’s boyfriend was from Hong Kong. She promised Manni to look for a lateral position for her in Hong Kong so she could be nearer to her boyfriend.
Xiao Qin is getting closer to her young flirty mentee.
Meanwhile, Gu Jian had very bad news. She had been scummed by the Ladies who lunch. One of them sold her a dud tea plantation, ridden with taxation problems.
Episode 20
Gu Jian’s best option was to declare bankruptcy on the tea business but Huan Shan said it does not look like she wanted to do it. So they agreed that they will remortgage again their apartment to fund the tea plantation.
She then went to confront the ladies who were all unrepentant and look down on her. They told her that they had tried so many times to make her leave the group as she does not belong but she just did not take the hint.
She told them that she was leaving because she realise that she can still hold her head and walk away as her own person, while the rest of them lives inside the parameters set by their husbands. Without their menfolks, they were just a bunch of inconsequential ladies.
Xiao Yang tried to confess to Xiao Qin but she stopped him.
Meanwhile, Manni told her boyfriend that she was looking into transferring to the Hong Kong branch. She thought he would be happy but he tried to tell her that she was going to be making a big mistake.
She then met an ex-boyfriend.
Episode 21
Manni told her friends that she met her ex-boyfriend from three years ago. Seeing him made her realised that she wanted a simple life.
Manni met a woman at an exclusive gym who came to her shop one day and for four hours tried everything on the racks and then end only buying a tie.
Chen Yu is trying his hardest to get back with Xiao Qin but she was being obtuse.
Meanwhile, while Gu Jian was in the tea plantation village, her husband was hearing You You’s Instagram pictures.
Gu Jian said she can turn the tea plantation over but she needed investment. She went around peddling her organic tea but now one was interested.
In the end, Gu Jian was feeling defeated.
Episode 22
Gu Jian managed to get finance for her tea plantation but she found that she may have another bigger problem when she found a receipt from a dessert parlor for two in her husband’s pocket.
Her suspicion grew even more when she also found a Buzz Lightyear keyring in his locked drawer which he hides his expenses. When she asked Huan Shan about the keyring, he gave a silly reason and he can’t look at her face.
She then took the keyring and said that she will give it away to one of their son’s friend who was obsessed with Buzz Lightyear.
Huan Shan was really nervous and was rather reluctant to lose the keyring.
Then, Manni found out that the woman who had been giving her a hard time at M was Zhao Jingyi, her boyfriend’s girlfriend from Hong Kong/ She confronted her boyfriend and admitted it and said he will break up with JIngyu and be with her. But he had to give him time.
Manni said to contact her when he had sorted his issues with Jin Yu.
As to Xiao Qin, Xiao Yang finally confessed to her and asked her to be his girlfriend. When she got home, Chen Yu had reached his tipping point and asked her if she was in an official relationship with the boy.
Episode 23
Chen Yu was depressed because he lost his news editing position and transferred to a lifestyle program with a lesser salary. He was also suspended for the meantime after he made a mistake in editing a news item.
Xiao Qin felt a twinge of guilt because she realised that Chen Yu had been so depressed for a long time because of what was happening to them.
The girls met up at the coffee shop of Manni’s ex-boyfriend. Each talked about the state of their love life. Gu Jia mentioned that she is finding her husband behaving strangely and would smile joyfully when he receives a WeChat which he deletes immediately.
She was told that she was too sensitive, her husband adores her.
But does he completely adore her?
You You is in Shanghai. She was invited by Huan Xuan to dinner which he said was a farewell dinner as he doesn’t want to see her again and apologise for making her misunderstand him if he did act as if there are going to be more to them. He said he was married.
You You, however, was not taking no for an answer. She appealed to the secret boy inside of him. She said that his wife was too controlling, she was taking out the life out of him.
Done deal, he will have an affair with her! Bastard.
Xiao Qin is torn. She might like Xiao Yang because he brings out the joy in her and yet she felt guilty about her ex who was depressed at the moment.
She was now in a quandary as Chen Yu asked if they could get back together!
Manni blocked her boyfriend from her phone. And yet Jinyang continues to torture her and even went as far as slapping her and humiliating her at work. She was so upset she resigned.
Episode 24
Manni went to Hong Kong and found that her boyfriend was cosily living with Jinyang.
She went back home to Shanghai all upset and her friends had to cheer her up.
Jinyang came to see her and told her that she had been keeping away the girls in Zhengxian’s life once their appeal had gone. She admitted that Manni was a bit different because Zhengxian’s might have genuinely liked her.
Manni met up with Zhengxian who said that he can’t really abandon Jinyang but he had a talk with her and she was not averse to having Manni to be his other girlfriend. She will not be exactly his mistress because he will never going to get married.
Manni was disgusted about the open relationship and told Zhengxian that she was out.
He reminded her that she had grown accustomed to the high life in fact she was wearing brand clothes that he bought for her.
Manni started to remove her clothes in the middle of the restaurant until she had to take her silk camisole. She stopped. A kindly waitress said that she will lend Manni clothes and shoes.
And that was the end of her relationship with Zhengxian and M (Mishil) as she resigned her position as the exclusive shop.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qin was dreading going back to the flat she shares with Chen Yu so she stayed at Gu Jian’s.
Gu Jian continues to have reservations about her husband. And she was right to do so because of the sluttish You You had resigned from her job. You You is moving to Shanghai.
You You is determined to get what she wanted. A very predatory woman.
Episode 25
Gu Jian had told her husband not to take their son outside because of the flu virus. He then remembered what You You said that he was like a little boy locked in a box by his wife’s demand. He can do that, he can make that, he can’t eat that so as a bit of a rebellion to his wife controlling manner he took their son to the park to play football.
The next morning, their son was running a fever and they had to take him to the hospital. While his wife and child were waiting for him to arrange a doctor or a nurse to see their child, he can’t help but check his phone for You You. 🙁
He then confessed to Gu Jian that it was his fault that their son is ill. He admitted to taking him to the park.
Gu Jian just smiled and said she knew. She saw the mud and grass on their son’s trainers.
He was shamed enough to hug his wife and child and would have known that Youyou had brainwashed him to a certain extent.
But he was already into deep with Youyou who showed up in front of his office to let him know that she had resigned from a job she liked but had moved to Beijing to be near him as she likes him more than her job.
Then conniving Youyou messaged him later that she had lost her wallet and her money but she was not worried about her card as there was not much on it.
So watchable because it makes your blood boil. LOL
Gu Jian instinctively knew that something was wrong in her marriage. Even her father noticed how sad she was and asked why Huan Shan was not coming with her to see him during her last two visits.
Gu Jian said that he was too busy.
Her father said to keep her chin up, to stand tall because whatever happens she was a father to support her. This made Gu JIan happy and made me happy as well. Very heartwarming scene.
Manni is one depressed woman. Her ex-bf, Jiang Chen had made it a point to look after her.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qin was in a lot of trouble at work, online, and at home so she had to stay at Gu Jian for a few days. It started with a customer who was running amok because the trainers she bought broke after a few wear. She wanted her money back but the sales clerk said that she can’t return the item because the costumer had worn them. The customer was with her equally bolshy husband.
Xiao Qin turned up while the customer was going berserk. She was pulling all the shoe displays from the shelves when Xiao Qin tried to stop her, she pushed Xiao Qin who got up and pushed the customer back which was recorded by other customers who by now was milling around.
It trended immediately that a high-end shopping mall was selling fake goods and if a customer complained they get physically abused by staff and this little news accompanies Xiao Qin pushing the customer.
Chen Yu received a dead toad package meant for Xiao Qin so he called her but it was her toyboy who answered.
Chen Yu told the toyboy to let Xiao Qin know not to come home, stay with Gu Jian because it was not safe at home.
The toyboy omitted the last bit and just told Xiao Qin that her ex-husband said not to come home.
Xiao Qi felt abandoned.
I did quite like her toyboy to start with but he is beginning to get on my nerves. There was news that this drama showed the male cast so negatively. LOL. I can see that now!
But then again, the women are not perfect either.
Man-ni is naive about men.
Xiao Qin is immature.
Gu Jian is so driven, she does not have much time to spare, ergo her husband got away with his flirtations.
Episode 26
The girls are not having the easiest time at the moment.
Manni started relying on Jiang Chen but he told her that he was actually with someone else already. And to cap it all, she cannot find a suitable job according to her experience. One recruiter could only offer a junior sales clerk with only half of her previous salary, which meant she would not be able to afford to pay her rent.
Xiao Qin was officially with her toyboy after snogging his head off. He took the brunt for her at work. He got fired instead of her. The outlet for her troubles and vexation in her life was blogging her life experiences.

Xiao Qin was finally cleared from assault and battery against a customer. It was all due to Chen Yu who investigated the customers who turned out to be a professional swindler.
Xiao Qin is torn between her ex and her toyboy.
Xiao Qin’s new apartment is ready. She was advised by both Manni and Gu Jian to move when she confessed to them that she both like her ex and toyboy.
Manni said that she has to make her mind up pretty quickly because she will end up not only hurting herself but both the men. Living alone and an independent life will clear her mind and make her choice.
Wang Manni celebrated her 30th birthday in her hometown. She had a very emotional hotpot goodbye with Xian Qin and Gu Jian.

Manni is back home with her mum and dad. Her mum did not waste any time. She immediately broached the subject of marriage. She wanted Manni to go on a blind date.
In the meantime, Manni was enjoying her return home. She was spoiled by everyone and had a 30th birthday celebration.
Interestingly, Jiang Chen still contacts her and was rather perturbed when he heard that she was enjoying her time in her village. I think they will end up together.
Xiao Qin’s parents finally found out that she was divorced from Chen Yu and were understandably upset.

It was the Double Ninth Festival as Manni’s village where traditions say that if you eat the cake you will go up in life. She also started dating Zhang Zhi a 35-year-old unmarried man. He is some sort of government official and is very popular with the people.
Gu Jian’s every waking moment is being taken up by her fledgling tea business.
As he was being neglected, Huan Shan seemed to think that this was a license for him to play around.

Lusty Youyou got her way into Huan Shan’s trousers and he was not complaining.
Episode 31 (Over 18-only Summary)
Lusty Huan Shan was still euphoric from bonking Youyou that he just couldn’t get enough of her. He got her a flat and paid a year-long rent. They started playing newlyweds in their love nest. He was getting adrenalin rush from building flat-packed furniture for her which extended with Youyou flat on her back next to the DIY crap.
In a previous scene, he came home finding Gu Jian expertly putting a new table together and he was rather emasculated that his wife did not need him for such thing. So he wanted to be manly and with the adoring Youyou, he can. He can do all the hammering and screwing all he likes! LOL
He rushes to her apartment in the morning for a quick shag before he goes to his work nearby. As YouYou said, he can literally come to her anytime. Yeuch!
Meanwhile, he is treating Gu Jian sometimes nicely and then sometimes short-tempered.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qin was getting fed up as she found it a bit of a hard work to date a toyboy, especially an immature one who was not bothered that he had no job.
Chen Yu went back to work finally.
Manni realised that her sleepy town was not for her after all. She was missing the hustle and bustle of Shanghai.
Episode 32
The tea plantation continues to drain money. The manager contacted Gu Jian to report that frost had come too early and it has affected 60 – 70 percent of the tea trees. If this is not fixed, they may not have a harvest for spring.
Because of this problem, Gu Jian cannot go with Huan Shan to their factory to inspect and destroy out of date fireworks.
Huan Shan and Gu Jian went to the airport together. Gu Jian gave Huan Shan clear instructions to destroy all the out of date fireworks for health and safety.
Huan Shan agreed.
They then went on their separate ways.
Gu Jian was barely out of sight when lusty YouYou came bounding in like a horny dog. Wrapping herself at Huan Shan, who pretended at first to be shock.
Lusty Youyou said that she booked a ticket because she was going with him to the factory. She said to Huan Shan that she will pretend to work for him as his horny secretary.
When they got to the factory, they did light many beautiful fireworks, blue jellyfish in the sky which was absolutely stunning.
Idiotic Huan Shan said that this will be the last time they will see blue fireworks as Gu Jian said to get rid of them as they have expired.
Lusty Youyou said that if it is expired they they have to destroy them but she also added that she loves them.
This was the only thing Idiotic Huan Shan was waiting for. Just because lusty Youyou loves them then she should have more of them. He immediately ordered that more blue fireworks are manufactured. His manager was very surprised because there was a previous instruction to stop manufacturing them.
I hope it blew up and Idiotic Huan Shan ends up in prison just like Shen Ji. He will then lose everything except for Youyou?
Anyway, Gu Jian was at the plantation and upon inspection, she agreed that they had to do something about protecting the tea trees from further damage from the frost. She was told that they would need tonnes of clay dust which would cost 170,000RMB.
Seeing that Huan Shan was getting tired of bailing the plantation out, Gu Jian borrowed money from her father, who asked her if she and Huan Shan were alright.
Xiao Qin passed her driving test. Waiting outside for her was toyboy, who congratulated her and said that as a surprise he book them a hotel room at Chongming Island.
Xiao Qin was rather perturbed at first but toyboy was so happy and excited to she went along with him.
She later got a call from Chen Xu, who informed her that Chen Yu had booked a one-way flight to their hometown for tomorrow. He won’t be coming back as he had a job at the local tv station.
Xiao Qin was so bothered about this. She can’t believe that Chen Yu would just leave without telling her or saying goodbye to her.
She wanted to see him but toyboy was getting frisky and wanted to get jiggy. He started lifting her shirt off when she stopped him and run into the bathroom. She put her hand in her pocket and found her wedding ring.
She remembered Chen Yu, who she had undervalued over the years. She realised that he had done all the little things which she never noticed like putting away her shoes, making sure that the remote control does not run out of battery, the vacuum cleaner bag is emptied, the toothpaste… and many things.
She realised that their problem was communication all along.
She went out of the bathroom and found the toyboy sat on the bed looking sad. He said to her that it was normal for those in a relationship to touch but it looks like she does not want to touch him or his touches.
Xiao Qin told him that he was right but she needed to sort herself out and will contact him when she had a time to think. She said she was leaving.
She then got an unlicensed taxi and was taken to a remote country lane. She put on her wedding ring and jumped out of the moving taxi when she got the chance. She hid from the driver.
The person she called was Chen Yu, who was woken from his sleep. He was very calm and talked her out of her panic.
She did not know where she was but he made her tell him everything she can remember why in the taxi.
She was so joyous and relieved when he finally turned up.
Chen Yu hugged her tightly and protectively. He then took her home and saw to her scratches and wounds. He saw that she was wearing her wedding ring.
She told him that she just found it.
Xiao Qin berated him for leaving town permanently without telling her. She said if she had died she would have been a vengeful ghost and haunted him.
All so cute. I am loving them now. Hope they end back together again.
Episode 33
Manni’s grandfather became ill, or rather the relatives who were given money to look after him had been trying to kill him so they could build a new house.
The grandfather was taken back to the village and the condition and situation he suffered was much too much for Manni’s dad that he collapsed himself.
Everyone pulled together to support Manni’s family. The neighbours bring food, and Zhang Zhi was there everyday cooking for the family. During a dinner for everyone, her mother forced Manni to say that her family was so grateful and she would try to full fill anything asked of her.
Manni called the girls and moaned that it looks like she does not any choice but to marry Zhang Zhi against her better judgment. The girls said that her marriage had nothing to do with her grandfather and she should not be force to do anything that she does not want to do.
Xiao Qin was asked by her mother why she calls Chen Yu whenever she was in trouble. Her mother answered her own question. She said that because she trusted Chen Yu.
Xiao Qin realised the truth of it. She trust Chen Yu but also realised that she depends too much on others. She had to be independent, find her footing alone.
So poor toyboy came at the wrong time. He came to the office with bunches of flowers to declare his feelings for Xiao Qin. He announced that he has a business. He opened a motorcycle Repair shop and he was the major shareholder. So he has a job. He then produced a couple’s rings for them.
Xiao Qin told him that she was not ready really for any relationship and they should breakup.
That was sad. He asked her if she was not going to regret her decision.
She said no. He then turned around and chucked the rings outside the window and left.
As to Gu Jian, she was slow to suspect her guilty-looking husband whether he was having an affair or lying about the blue fireworks.
As Gu Jian was at home, he could not go see Lusty Youyou that often. That one time he risked it, he almost had a heart attack being late home after Lusty Youyou seduced him to bed. He was so sneaky he used angelic Zi Yan their son as an alibi that he was home all the time. He is really a nasty piece of work.
Episode 34
Xiao Yang let himself in at Xiao Qin flat and found her with a flu. He said he came to return the key to the flat. He also said not to feel guilty about him because he realised that he could live without her. He then said that he cheated, showing the link to her blogs. He said that they were not soulmates, he can’t read her mind per se. He was reading her blogs that is why he knows so much about her.
He then told her that her blog is so good it should be a novel.
Huan Shan had planned to take his wife and son to Tokyo but the tea plantation had again interfered with their plans.
So instead, Gu Jian went to her plantation with Xiao Qin and Manni. They had a lovely time in the peaceful out of town mountainous tea plantation.
Manni confessed to them that she was missing Shanghai so much she had decided to go back.
Gu Jian said that she was wrong in suspecting her husband of having an affair. Because of it they have lost their intimacy. They only talk about work and their son now. She wanted to get back to that old feeling.
What she did not know was that her husband went back to his lusty Youyou as soon as Gu Jian had left.
Lusty Youyou was so confident of herself as the one Huan Shan loved most that she told him that she wanted to see where he lives.
For once, Huan Shan said that he could grant anything she wanted but not this one. It is out of bounds.
Lusty Youyou realised that in the end she was really just a mistress and she was not having it.
While the three girls were having dinner, Gu Jian suddenly said to Xiao Qin that someone was waiting for her at the end of the street.
Xiao Qin was excited and went running down the wet, slippery looking cobbles into a parked RV where Chen Yu was chopping tofu.
It seems the food the girls were enjoying was cooked by him.
Xiao Qin asked what was he doing there, he said that he had just come back from his hometown and he suddenly …
Xiao Qin asked what? And he said to take her home. Awww

Manni went hope and gave her notice at work. She had a very emotional parting from Zheng Zhi, who was hoping to marry her.
But it was not as emotional as when she told her parents that she was leaving. Her mother used emotional blackmail that they were getting old and had hope that Manni would live nearby and they could all look after each other.
Her father was very sad but very pragmatic. He gave her a debit card which was supposed to be or her wedding but as he said she would need money in Shanghai.
Episode 35
Huan Shan suddenly realised that he made a fatal mistake in his marriage. He finally wised up that he could lose it all.
Lusty Youyou is doing a Fatal Attraction kind of thing. As Huan Shan ignored her wish to see his apartment, she got herself a job as a receptionist at his posh apartment building.
She met Gu Jian who wash with Huan Shan. Gu Jian thought Lusty Youyou was perky and cute.
Huan Shan was not thinking Lusty YouYou was cute at that moment. He was scared. Lusty Youyou is dangerously mad.
Huan Shan turned at Lusty Youyou’s apartment to pack her things and send her back to Beijing.
He told her that he felt guilty towards her, to his wife, and to his son. He will never divorce his wife.
Lusty Youyou took the ticket and went.
Meanwhile, Manni was back in Shanghai. She was staying at Xiao Qin’s apartment. She called the CEO from Shanghai who she met in her hometown.
The CEO said that he had acquired Mishil (M).
Manni went to see him and said that she wanted to be an assistant manager at Mishil.
He said that he would consider making her the manager but for three months he would give her a role that she must.
Qiao Xin was still with Chen Yu, who was doing everything to court his wife back into a remarriage. And he seemed succeeding a little but she would burst into giggles because she finds it strange for her husband to be so wordy and schmaltzy at well. He admitted that he was finding that talking about sweet things was strange but he was really thinking it. He will give her anything he wanted. Awwww
Gu Jian found the order contract for Blue Ocean at the office. She absolutely went mental but not as mental as Huan Shan, who let out all the bitterness and resentment towards her.
He told her that she does not know about art, it was his life and dream. She was too controlling and he had been financing her tea plantation from his fireworks.
He really gave it to her.
Gu Jian told him that she does not want to end up with a dead husband, or broken family or him ending up in prison just like Shen Jie.
This war on words escalated to Gu Jian completely ignoring Huan Shan for the next days.
Huan Shan was depressed and then he saw Lusty Youyou still working at the apartment building as a receptionist.
He pulled her to one side to talk and she started unbuttoning her collar to show him that she had a Blue Ocean tattooed around her collarbone and somewhere else in her body.
Wow, he is like a fish out of water.
Episode 36
The angsts are coming thick and fast.
But let’s have some joy first.
Xiao Qin brought Chen Yu to an aquarium which surprised Chen Yu as Xiao Qin main gripe was Chen Yu seemed to have more time for his fish that for her.
He had already promised her that he had cleaned out the fish tank at home and there were no more fish.
Xiao Qin said that she spent a lot of money on the tickets but if he doesn’t want to be in the aquarium then they should go.
But Chen Yu said that since it cost a lot, they might as well enjoy it and he did. He was like a child, joining in with the children looking and talking about the kinds of fish in the aquarium.
He belatedly remembered Xiao Qin, who he can’t find and her mobile phone was not ringing. Suddenly from behind him inside the huge viewing tank was a mermaid. She seemed to be looking at him and he realised that it was Xiao Qin.
When she put up her arms above her head to make a heart, my own heart melted. It was so heartwarming it made me tear up.
Chen Yu was absolutely enchanted. Though naturally reserved, he put his hand against the glass and Xiao Qin put hers opposite his. I hope there is another sister drama with just about these characters. They are so lovable. Yes, I have changed my tune. I love them together now.
After the Mermaid Experience, Chen Yu was helping dry Xiao Qin hair at the park outside and she asked him if he wanted to bring a mermaid home to look after?
So sweet. Chen Yu was so happy and asked if she was proposing to him.
Xiao Qin said he should do it and he agreed to do it there and then but he lifted her in his arms instead. Awww
Now, Manni started her strange job. It was in the finance/receivable department where there are only a minimum amount of chairs and desks as they wanted the employees to be out and about collecting debts and not be office-bound.
They have modern English names. Jenny said to her that she had to have an English name as well but she can’t use Jennifer as there were already 8 in their department alone.
So Jenny said as her name is Manni, why not use Maggie. So she became Maggie.
The others were quite friendly at first but when they found out that Maggi came from the recommendation of the CEO office, they tested her. They made her drink a copious amount of alcohol.
Gu Jian and Huan Shan made up after she told him that it was not the blue fireworks that upset her the most, it was his lying. He profusely apologised and said he will never lie to her again.
Gu JIan asked if he was keeping other secrets?
“No, please trust me.” he said.
Lusty You You had began exacting her revenge against Huan Shan. She was determined to create the maximum strife between Gu Jian and Huan Shan.
Huan Shan was on tenterhooks when Gu Jian was opening a package brought up by Lusty Youyou to their apartment. Gu Jian said she was not sure what it was as she had not ordered anything.
With his heart pounding, Huan Shan watched Gu Jian opened the box, which to his relief were disposable face towels, which he told Lusty Youyou to buy rather than the washable sort when they were still lovely-dovey in their flat.
Gu Jian mentioned that Lusty Youyou got into the apartment and asked for her Wechat so she can be informed of things regarding their apartment.
Huan Shan was so annoyed with Lusty Youyou, who he confronted.
Lusty Youyou played meekly, she said that she was leaving her job soon. She also mentioned that she had had boyfriends before but she was a virgin until she screwed Huan Shan’s brain out in the hotel. LOL
With the Wechat Lusty Youyou could monitor Gu Jian’s whereabouts and at that moment she was at a play centre with ZiYan.
Lusty Youyou approached Gu Jian and Ziyan, who she gave a Buzz Lightyear key-ring to.

Nice bits first.
Awww, Chen Yu brought a surprised Xiao Qin to the registry office to get remarried.
They were happily holding on to their new marriage certificates when Chen Yu noticed that their RV was being ticketed. They tried to plead with the traffic police to let them off.
The police congratulated them but a ticket is still a ticket.
For some reason, their wedding night was spent apart.
Xiao Qin spent the night with Gu Jian and Manni at her old apartment where Manni is now living.
They teased her about not spending the night with her groom but she cheekily said that there was nothing new. It was only a remarriage.
Xiao Qin was happily listening to them about Chen Yu who had always loved her and the divorce was due to bravado which they can see he regretted immediately.
They asked her when she found out that she wanted to be with him again.
Xiao Qin said that it was the night when his car lights flashed into her face. She felt that with him she will always be safe. Ahhhh
Xiao Qin finally finished her blog/novel and was quite happy about it. Meanwhile, she asked Chen Yu what he was going to do? Will he remain as a reporter or would he transfer back to editing?
Xiao Qin said that it was up to him but she was not very keen on him going to many business trips.
Manni was tasked to collect debts from a man who locked himself in his office. Manni found out that with him in the office was his son. It ended up with Manni paying for their noodles in the eatery but she was assured that he will pay all his debts within the month once he had sold his house.
Manni was perturbed about the job, she was taking a walk when she spotted Huan Shan with Lusty Youyou. They seemed to be intimate. Manni took photos.
She was going to send them to Gu Jian but she changed her mind.
Huan Shan was forced to meet up Lusty Youyou for their monthsarry. He told her that he was never going to leave his wife or his son. He wanted her to go away instead.
She asked him if Gu Jian finds out will he go to her? He looked at her as if she was out of her mind!
Huan Shan was so desperate to break up with her, he asked Chen Xu for advice.
Chen Xu told him that based on his experience, the last thing he would do was to make the girl becomes irate. He just has to stick with the relationship and make it so boring that the girl would go away in her own accord.
The manager of the firework factory contacted Gu Jian because he can’t get in touch with Huan Shan. The manager wanted more cardboards because they had been inundated with orders.
The manager came clean with Gu Jian. He said that Huan Shan was still producing blue fireworks. He was asked to do so when he and Youyou came to the factory.
It so happened that Youyou was the name of Huan Shan’s secretary as well.
Finally Huan Shan turned up and they had to call his secretary, Youyou,
The factory manager was confused because she was a different Youyou. This was noticed by Gu Jian.
She then questioned him later about the Youyou he took to the factory.
He said that it was a client.
Gu Jian said to him that she was only going to ask it once, who made him changed his mind from destroying the blue ocean.
Huan Shan said that it was all down to him. It was his dream.
Episode 38
Finally, the affair had come out in the open and about time too. It was dragging a bit.
Anyway, Lusty YouYou kept giving Gu Jian’s clues that she was in a relationship with Huan Shan. The latest was the train plaster (band-aid) that their family used especially on Zi Yan wounds.
It was very telling that a woman of her mid-twenties would be using the same plaster on her finger.
Gu Jian’s twigged especially when she saw the knowing look on Lusty Youyou. Gu Jian searched Lusty Youyou’s Wechat and there was more telling evidence like the Buzz Lightyear and she remembered the UU that her own son saw in the sky during the firework night in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chen invited Manni for a drink. Xiao Qin also turned up. They asked about her job but she said there was something that had really been bugging her. She showed them the photo she took of Huan Shan and Lusty Youyou
Both were shocked and Xiao Qin was ready to tell all to Gu Jian but Jiang Chen said that what if it is innocent? They have to be cautious.
Xiao Qin was really bugged by what she learned and told her husband about it.
Chen Yu said that even if it is true, it was not wise to come out with guns blazing because Gu Jian might know about it already and might be trying to work it out with her husband. Xiao Qin batting in might makes them divorce. Also, it might ruin their friendship. He advised her visit Gu Jian and observe the situation fully.
That was what Xiao Qin did. She and Manni went to Gu Jian’s apartment and saw Lusty Youyou working as at the reception. Xiao Qin was ready to slap her but Manni said they had to go see Gu Jian who they found was in total shock. They tried to tell her about her husband but Gu Jian said she already know.
Gu Jian said she needs full proof so the girls followed Lusty Youyou. They saw her get out and then a few minutes later, Huan Shan appeared and entered the same building.
Gu JIan though could not bear the thought of knocking on their door and seeing the adulterers standing side by side.
She went home and asked for Xiao Qin to look after Ziyan for a few days. Manni said that she will driving Xaio Qin and Ziyan home but she will be waiting in the car afterwards for Gu Jian if she needed to talk.
It was the much-awaited confrontation. Gu Jian wechatted Huan Shan to come home immediately for a talk.
And they had their heartbreaking conversation. At first Huan Shan lied saying that he just came back from the office but Gu Jian told him that she saw him with her own eyes going to Lustry Youyou.

And Gu Jian knew that he was such a lying bastard because she said, “I never believed anything you just said, not even one sentence.”
As he tried to hug her, she told him he disgusts her.
She then left him to go to Manni where she spent the night drinking herself silly so she could go to sleep.
Xiao Qin and Chen Yu were babysitting the cutest, sweetest boy Zi Yan (what a charming young actor). Xiao Qin noticed how Chen Yu would make such a good father.

Manni was not having the best of luck. Instead of collecting debts, she got scummed for 65,000RMB when her client pleaded with her to lend him some money and promising to pay her back as soon as he had sold his house. But within minutes of her transferring her money, the man disappeared with her money.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qin and Chen Yu enjoyed being with Zi Yan so much, they missed him when he went back to his mum.
Chen Yu asked Xiao Qin why not have one of their own and there is no time like the present as he carried a giggling Xiao Qin to the bedroom.
Meanwhile, Gu Jian went back to the apartment. She told Huan Shan that she wanted a divorce. She said that she was not going to make him poor as they have a son together. They have to make sure that Zi Yan s happy and contented at all costs.
Huan Shan can keep the firework business while she keeps the Tea plantation. they will then sell their apartment and divide the proceeds.
Knowing that he hasn’t got anything to lose anymore, Huan Shan let out all his grievances against Gu Jian. He said that she treated him as someone below her, not an equal but someone to be dictated to and not allowed to make decisions including with his own business. He said that Zi yan is their baby and he was her older baby.
Gu Jian realised that Lusty YouYou was just the catalyst. They had a deeper problem that would have resulted in them divorcing.
She gave him his suitcase she packed.
Outside, Lusty Youyou was waiting for him.
Huan Shan told her that he was never going to divorce his wife, never and he will never be with her.
Lusty Youyou was heartbroken but really surprised. She did not think that he would actually not want to be with her after he was free from Gu Jian.
Gu Jian had her reunion with Zi Yan who was so happy to see her. Inside his school bag was a cute penguin he got for her at the aquarium.
Also inside his bag were a couple of books which he said were given to him by Lusty YouYou.
Gu Jian felt this is the last straw with Lusty Youyou.
Gu Jian went to see Lusty Youyou who had the gall to go to Zi Yun’s kindergarten and tell the child that his daddy will have a new family soon.
She told Lusty Youyou that she can mess with Huan Shan but she absolutely cannot meddle with Zi Yun. She slapped Lusty Youyou to make her point.
Episode 40
Poor Maggie Jiang who plays Manni. She is supposed to be the main star of this drama but her storyline was so boring. In this episode, she finally collected payment from a recalcitrant heiress. That is really the sum total of what happened to her. LOL
Now, Xiao Qin was asked by a publishing agent if she wanted to her novel to become more mainstream, also Limon Production is interested in making a drama out of her book. They would pay her 2M RMB for the rights.
Xiao Qin asked her husband’s permission first because the story is about him. She wanted him to read it first and then she fought shy about and told him not to read it now and she said they should go to sleep.
But then you really can tell someone that the story is about them and not expect to really the novel immediately. So under the cover of the night, Chen Yu crept out of the bedroom to read the novel.
The next morning, he told Xiao Qin that the novel was good and to go ahead and publish it.
Xiao Qin asked him if he really doesn’t mind.
Chen Yu said that it was just fiction after all. But he added that having read the novel, he realised that he had to change.
A few days later, Chen Yu came home to find that a man was installing an expensive door password pad. He was a bit concerned and told Xiao Qin that he really doesn’t have a secret stash of money.
Xiao Qin just laughed at him and told him that she’s gotten the royalty to her novel and it was for 1.56M RMB. He was chuffed and took the card from her for safe-keeping. But there is no stopping Xiao Qin. She dragged him to a shopping centre and treated him to a complete wardrobe change. She also got a massage chair for him.
He was really happy to find out that the massage chair was for him because she was concerned of his bad back from editing.

And then the heartaches continue.
Knowing that Lusty Youyou was holding on like a velcro, Gu Jian with Huan Shan met with her at a restaurant.
Huan Shan apologised and then begged Lusty Youyou to bugger off to Beijing. He said that Gu Jian is the love of his life and whether they divorce or not he would remain to protect his wife and family and there is no room of Lusty Youyou in his life.
Lusty Youyou cynically asked what Gu Jian promised Huan Shan. She said Huan Shan loved her because with her he was free to play football that he loves, eat anything that he wanted. With her, he is his real self. She said that Huan Shan and her have a shared love of food and not starved like what Gu Jian had been doing to him. She then proceeded to show the many food photos in her WeChat to Gu Jian which she said correspond to the number of days she was together with Huan Shan.
Gu Jian said calmly to Lusty Youyou that she does not starve Huan Shan. She said that every time Huan Shan does not eat, she does not eat as well. And the reason why? Huan Shan was diagnosed with Fatty Liver which is really worrying as he was only in his thirties.
Obviously Lusty Youyou did not know anything about this but she was not finished. She showed the tattoo of the Blue Cloud on her chest.
This really upset Gu Jian because Huan Shan had promised her that all the fireworks he was going to design will all be dedicated to her.
Now she really know that nothing was sacred with her relationship with Huan Shan.
She went crying to her father, who called Huan Shan for a talk.
Huan Shan immediately knelt before his father-in-law to apologise. He said that he loves Gu Jian the most but he does not know what came over him. He said that he will never divorce when the father said that Gu Jian and him should divorce.
Hypocritical Huan Shan reminded his father in law that Gu Jian suffered a lot with the loss of her mother when she was in her teens. Huan Shan said that he does not want that to happen to Zi Yan. Really?!!!
Now it got fantastical, Gu Jian’s father called Lusty Youyou for a talk. He was so fatherly and calm about it. He told Youyou that she will never get Huan Shan to herself.
If you are a father, I think the last thing you would do is be nice to the floozy of your son-in-law, who broke your daughter’s heart. I think he should have beaten every inch of her sorry unrepentant ass. LOL
Episode 41
Manni found out that one of her clients was involved in corruption with Frank, the manager at the Receivable Department.
Frank tried to make her leave by threatening her but Manni said that she was not leaving. She had toughened up and cannot be intimidated that easily.
Meanwhile, Chen Yu made Xiao Qin realised that she was spending money like there was no tomorrow. She spent 50K RMB buying his clothes, then 30K for the massage chair, she also transferred 10k to Chen Xu.
She then said one day to Chen Yu that she had packed in her job so she can become a full-time writer.
Chen Yu was a little concerned because she had really written one novel and it was based on her experiences. Realising that he was too much of a wet blanket, he said that it was of course down to her.
Xiao Qin was grateful to Chen Yu.
Meanwhile, Gu Jian’s father continued talking to Lusty Youyou. He told her to find someone else, she is a young woman she has plenty of chances to find a more suitable partner.
Lusty Youyou said that she can’t leave Huan Shan because she can’t imagine loving anyone else as much as she loves him.
Gu Jian’s father said he can relate to what she was saying because he felt the same with Gu Jian’s mother. Though she died young, it never occurred to him to be with anyone else. But he said the one you love should love you back because happiness is about three people in the park, a mother, a father, and a child being joyous together.
Huan Shan received a text from Lusty Youyou informing him that she was leaving for Beijing and would like him to see her off one last time.
The person who showed up was Gu Jian.
Gu Jian gave her a ticket to Beijing saying that she knew Lusty Youyou had not bought a ticket.
Lusty Youyou admitted that she was hoping that Huan Shan would show up and tell her not to go. This was her one last chance. Obviously Huan Shan had shown her text to Gu Jian.
Gu Jian told Lusty Youyou that she was just an affair to Huan Shan. He gave her the train plaster the first time he met Lusty Youyou as he always carries them in his bag because Gu Jian made him do so for their son, ZiYan who is a bit clumsy. As to the Blue Ocean, it was a dream of both Huan Shan and Gu Jian when they were just starting in the firework industry.
Gu Jian further added that it looks like Lusty Youyou did not love Huan Shan as himself but what his wife made him into.
Lusty Youyou was very impressed that she said if she had not met Huan Shan, she would have been friends with Gu Jian.
Gu Jian dismissed her by saying there are no what-ifs.
Gu Jian was suffering from all the stress that she wanted to get away for a while.
She boarded a plane to anywhere it would take her (within China)
Episode 42
Manni was being bullied and threatened by Frank to leave the company as well as Shanghai. Her work-life became almost untenable as she was being shunned by her work colleagues, only Jenny would deign to speak with her.
Manni however had become braver and independent thinking that she hasn’t got anything to lose. So she went to the company’s investigation unit with her evidence. The Unit in turn passed the corruption case against Frank to the Department of Justice.
The next day Frank was arrested.
Mr Wei, the CEO called her. She was surprised that he supported her action. He said that he had wanted to sack Frank a long time ago but there was never enough evidence.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qin surprised Chen Yu with a sale deed. She spent almost a million buying her mother-in-law a house. Chen Yu was most concerned and scolded her that she should have discussed it with him first.
Xiao Qin was confident. She said she likes that mother-in-law can comfortably feel that she has a permanent house, anyway Xiao Qin is very confident that she will earn more money from her next book.
It happened, the thing that Gu Jian was most worried about. The blue fireworks exploded destroying the factory and killing two as well as injuring a few.
They found this out while they were in the process of signing the divorce paper.
Because she is a very responsible kind of girl, Gu Jian did not insist to push through the divorce instead she will help shoulder the deaths duties, injuries, liabilities, and penalties brought about by the accident.
It was time for Gu Jian to ram how stupid Huan Shan had been but she held herself with dignity. No recrimination at all. She is such a saintly woman.
Episode 43 – Closure
This is the finale and what a ride it has been.
Manni finished the case she was allotted. Mr Wei said that she can now be the manager of Mishil.
Manni however turned it down saying that she had outgrown Mishil. Mr Wei then offered her a directorship at Zheishang (?) but again she turned it down.
She said she wanted to study abroad and see more of the world. Mr Wei said that she does not have to leave China to study. He offered to finance any course she wanted to study but Manni said she had already decided to study design in Edinburgh, in Scotland.
Manni went drinking with the girls. They noticed that Liang Shang was also in the bar. Manni went to see him and told him that he had not changed when he asked her to travel the world with him and see the Nothern Lights. She just laughed and bid him a final farewell.
Jiang Chen had let go of Manni and married one of his waitresses.
Xiao Qin was going strong in her writing. Then she told Chen Yu that she is pregnant again. This time Chen Yu could not be any happier. They are living the dream.
As to Gu Jian, it was like starting over. She told Huan Shan that they had 10 great years so their marriage did not fail, it had just ended.
She sold the factory and closed the office. She also sold the apartment which helped towards compensation and other expenses.
Huan Shan was in prison for three years. With breaking heart he broached the subject of divorce to Gu Jian. He said that they should divorce. This scene was so sad but uplifting. He did love her so much so he had to let her go.
Gu Jian went to the tea plantation with her son and father.
She told her father that she won’t be returning in the city, she would like to stay in the plantation and make a real career of it.
Her father said that he guessed that. Before he left he had already canceled his retirement home contract and would like to live in the retirement paradise of the tea plantation.
