Episode 1

It is here and so lovely and adorable as well.

I have to say that I have finished the first eight available episodes in one sitting.  This drama is so engaging, it is addictive. Thus, I did not have time to blog about each of the episodes.

It looks like I have to rewatch everything but no worries, I love what I have seen already.

Zhao Lu Si glows, the camera really loves her, thus she ends up stealing every scene she was in.

The start is reminiscent of The Romance of Tiger & Rose, but this time our intrepid Sang Qi was flying from the sky to save a carriage drawn by a spooked horse.

Instead of thanking her, the passenger prevented her from knowing who he was.

Sang Qi was miffed by the ungrateful passenger.

But someone was more upset than her.

scolded Sang Qi.  She said this was her third attempt to get Yan Yun Zi to stop.  And Sang Qi ruined it all.

Sang Qi was having a heated discussion with Song Jia Yi.  The mention of Sang Qi’s name finally piqued Yan Yun Zhi attention.  He deigned to get out of the carriage to have a look at Sang Qi. He looked at her as if he knew of her.

When Sang Qi tried to speak with him, he just continued to look at her.

So she started walking away thinking that he was mute.

She met up with Zhuo Wen Yuan, her childhood sweetheart, who was as happy to see her as she was.

She told him that she was going to enroll at the Imperial College to fulfill her brother’s wishes for her as well as carry on what her brother started, finished school at the Imperial College. This was actually the reason why she wanted to study at the Imperial College.

Executing her bet with Song Jia Yi was only secondary if that!

Their conversation was interrupted by Song Jia Yin who was making such a commotion because there was no room for her at the inn/restaurant.

Sang Qi went out of their private dining room to remonstrate Song Jia Yin from making such a racket.

Song Jia Yin started on Sang Qi as well and told her that it was her fault that Song Jia Yin did not have her moment with her fiance, Yan Yun Zhi, who can hear everything from the adjacent dining area.

Anyway, Song Jia Yin was really so annoyed she started taking it out with restaurant helpers, demanding that they should be fired.

Sang Qi said that it was not fair, it was not their fault.

Song Jia Yin said that she will change her mind if Sang Qi agrees to a bet.

Sang Qi agreed immediately, the dare was that Sang Qi will have to make Yan Yun Zhi accept her pouch before the Lantern Festival ?!!!

Sang Qi found out later that Yan Yun Zhi was the man she rescued from the runaway carriage and also the Deputy Chief of the Imperial College.

Sang Qi was desperate but she has an ace card under her sleeves.  She is the only and adored daughter of the Grand Commander.  So she launched a charm offensive against her father, when it did not work she threw a tantrum.

She got what she wanted, the Emperor issued an edict to allow Sang Qi as the first female student at the Imperial College.

But the faculty had to make her take examinations in literature which Wen Yuan helped her to revise for and then the next test was fairly easy to the already combatant Sang Qi.  It was horse-riding and using bow and arrows, a doddle for someone who grew up in the frontier.

She passed the test with flying colours but she was still assigned to the bottom Class Yellow where she met Yan Yan, the son of the Grand Preceptor.

She was not left lonely in the class because Wen Yuan who was number one of the top class, Class Sky transferred to Class Yellow to be with her.

Sang Qi became the bane of Yan Yun Zhi’s life.  She hounded him into accepting her pouch.  When he told her that giving a pouch to a man means you are confessing your feelings to him Sang Qi had a ready answer.

She said that she loves him as a student to her teacher.  He declined to accept the pouch but she still tried.

During another attempt to give him the pouch, she saw him trying to hang himself.  She was as shocked as him at being found out.

He explained that he regularly helped the Prefecture Court to solve cases.

Sang Qi was seen by Wen Yuan coming out from Yan Yun Zhi’s quarters.  She told him that she saw the Deputy Chief hanging himself.

They were overheard and before you know it, Yan Yun Zhi committing suicide was trending on the campus.

Yan Yun Zhi was beginning to see how much trouble Sang Qi was but he could not help but have a soft spot for her because he promised his best friend Sang Yu, Sang Qi’s dead brother that he would look after Sang Qi when she enters the Imperial College.

It shows, doesn’t it?  I really love this drama.  Sometimes with idol dramas or those with newbie actors, it takes a few episodes for the characters to gel together.

Not in this drama.  It was entertaining from the first scene.

Episode 2

Aww, this episode is so cute.  I guess I will be using CUTE googol times to describe this drama, because it is really cute.

The script is well set up, not a boring moment, hope it continues.

Anyway, Sang Qi was summoned to Yan Yun Zhi’s quarter where he let her in and then he proceeded to close the door.

Sang Qi was a simple girl, she says what she thinks and perceives at any given time.  So she asked the Deputy Chief if he was going to abuse her during daytime.  LOL

He ignored her query, instead he told her that if she still wanted to give him the pouch then she has this one time to give it to him, it’s now or never.

Sang Qi was shocked!  She did not expect this in a million years.  Anyway she was reaching for her pouch but it had gone from her waistline.

She remembered having it as she was going to the quarter.  Now it was gone and she would miss her chance.

As she did not have the pouch she had to leave but she was thinking that there was something weird about the whole thing.

She was right.  Yan Yun Zhi dextrously grabbed her pouch as she walked pass him as she entered the room.

Anyway, Yan Yun Zhi tasked his hapless assisting Meng Zhu to returned the pouch at Sang Qi’s desk.

Unfortunately, the pouch ended up in Yanyan’s desk.

Yan Yan immediately thought that Sang Qi fancied him and told her that he was not really ready to get married but as it was her being the daughter of the empire’s hero, he will reconsider.

This ended up in a misunderstanding and Yanyan was humiliated when Sang Qi denied liking him and not knowing how the pouch ended with him.

They all ended up by the pond where Yan Yan tumbling down with another student which made Sang Qi laughed so hard she almost fell herself if the Deputy Chief did not turn up to hold on to her.

But the devil seemed to have possessed cute Sang Qi, she pulled the Deputy Chief with her to fall into the pond.

As she got out drenched from the water, the students led by Song and Hong advised her to go to the Wind Room to dry up.

Sang Qi noticed the overhead buckets by the door.  Before they could use it on her she upside the buckets on them.

She told them that she was not going to start a brawl with them but it does not mean she would accept bullying.

It was their riding and archery lessons.

The boys all said that Sang Qi should have the first go as she grew up in the frontier, she should show them her prowess.

Sang Qi ignored them so Yan Yan trying to show up Sang Qi volunteered to go first.  He was pretty good at archery and riding until the horse reared up and then threw him with his foot caught on the stirrup.

Yan Yan panicked and asked for help.  Sang Qi immediately went for a bow and arrow and expertly shoot and separated the stirrup freeing Yan Yan.

She then jumped on top of the horse to calm it down but the horse was much too disturbed; the Deputy Chief jumped onto the horse as well.

Episode 3

Yang Yang was so grateful to her that he said that she was now her Master and would protect her with his life.

The Deputy Chief was helping the Imperial Coroner when they noticed a female assassin on the rooftop.  He chased after her until she went into the Grand Commander’s mansion.

The DC heard a voice and found instead a naked Sang Qi bathing.

They were both shocked. He immediately exited while Sang Qi put on a robe.  Guards at Sang Qi’s house were alerted by the intruders and started searching the house so DC returned to the bathroom.  Sang Qi wanted him to hide inside the bathtub but DC opted to jump into the window.

The next day, it was a music lesson.  Sang Qi immediately confessed that she doesn’t play any musical instrument but lo and behold she was the first one to have to play the pipa.

It was a dismal failure but Sang Qi said that she would rather sing.  Only Yanyan was enthusiastic.

She started singing and she sounded divine.  So divine that even the DC came to listen and could not help himself but to play the pipa while she sings.

Later on, she asked him how he knew the rhythm of the song.  He said that it was fairly easy to follow.

But she was not buying it, she asked him if he knew her brother Sang Yu and his friend, White.

He still denied knowing anything so Sang Qi trespassed into the archive room.  She found the yearbook of Class Sky where her brother’s name was included.  But another name next to him was scratched out.

She was found by the DC who told her that she could be expelled for trespassing to which she countered that he would be in trouble as well for forcing himself into her bathroom while she was bathing.

Still, he punished her.  She had to copy the Imperial Rules 50 times.

Sang Qi thought of another way of getting into DC’s good books.  So as she submitted the 50 copies of the Imperial Rules she invited him to lunch and she would not take no for an answer.

He later found her cooking and stir-frying some beans sprout.  She was so loud, it alarmed him and went to investigate.  But he got cornered by some chickens.

It so happened that he was phobic of the feathered friends.  He suffers from ornithophobia (fear of feathers).

While she escorted him outside, Song and Hong drugged the beansprouts.

Anyway, as the DC refused to eat the lunch she prepared, she started eating the beansprouts.  She then started hallucinating and ended up snogging DC then she fainted.

She was in a coma and tested positive for poisoning.  The imperial doctors said that she was dying which almost made the Grand Commander have a heart attack.

But Imperial Doctor Wen, the best doctor of the empire turned up after being kidnapped by the DC.

Doctor Wen warned the DC that he will charge him for kidnapping after he had seen to Sang Qi.

Episode 4

Aww Zhao Lu Si and Xu Kai Cheng CP (Couple) is now my favourite.

This episode is particularly sweet and cute.

After recovering from her poisoning, she immediately went to invegate the source of the poison and got trapped in the academy cold food warehouse.

DC could not forget the how Sang Qi kissed him while she was hallucinating and he was beginning to flirt with her.

He was entranced when she took off the clip from her hair as he wanted to borrow it.  She was imitating a shampoo commercial while when could not take his eyes off her.

But still he refused to take her pouch when she asked if he would.

Episode 5

It was the Latern Festival.

As Sang Qi lost the bet, she had to prepare a number for the festival.  Originally she was to play the pipa. But the public was booing her inability really play it.

The DC flew down from the balcony.  He announced that Sang Qi had grown up in the frontier Fortress and why not let her sing a folksong.

Sang Qi did not only sing, she also did a dance to go with her song.

She looks so lovely and graceful that everyone was all praises for her.

Then before she could thank DC, he rushed back to the balcony.

Zhuo Wen Yuan then told her that the beautiful woman on the balcony was DC’s fiancee, Su Jie Yu.

She was crashed.

But then there was a commotion and being an action girl she joined the chase for the perpetrator.

She was saved later by DC.  Their almost flirtation was cut short by the arrival of Su Jie Yu.

Instead of being jealous, Sang Qi was fan girling Su Jie Yu because she was so beautiful.  Sang Qi that she was the most beautiful girl she has ever seen in Bianjing.

Sang Qi like her, even more, when she mentioned that she knew Sang Qi’s brother.  Sang Qi wanted to know more but DC interrupted.

She got invited to the Su House where she met the men, including DC, who are all friends of her late brother.

Anyway, on the way home, DC confessed that he was White.  And promised to protect her at school like what he pledged to her brother.

Episode 6

Zhuo Wen Yuan took Song Qi to meet Qian Jiu in the mountains.

Qian Jiu was a girly girl who knows everything about make up and perfume.  While they trying out perfumes, Song Qi noticed the tri-leaf tattoo on Qian Jiu’s nape.

Qian Jiu noticed that Song Qi saw it and became rather peculiar about it.

Song Qi wanted to love-matched Wen Yuan to Qian Jiu so she said she would like to go home while Zhuo Wen Yuan should stay with Qian Jiu for some tea.

It was dark in the forested road.  They the carriage stopped.  When she looked outside of the carriage, she found her driver was dead on the ground.

Masked raiders then turned up.  Song Qi was a good fighter that there were just too many of them.

She thought she was going to die when she got injured nastily in the leg.

Out of nowhere, a drunken master came down from the sky and sorted the raiders.  He then disappeared as fast as he had turned up.

Her father was very concerned when he saw his injured daughter when she got home.  I love their father-daughter relationship.  It is so heartwarming.

Anyway, they reported the incident to the constabulary.

The next morning, she got a stream of visitors including DC who brought her books to study while recuperating at home.

He also inspected her injury and told her off for investigating.

He asked her what was she doing that night anyway.

She told him that she went to see Qian Jiu.

Anyway, she mentioned that she was saved by the sky master.  When then asked if he had seen or know of the tri-leaf symbol.  He asked where she saw it, she mentioned that she saw it on her assailants and Qian Jiu.

When he left, it was the turn of Zhou Wen Yuan to visit.  He was very remorseful that he did not take her home.  She said that it was not his fault.

DC went to the Imperial constabulary and presented a drawing of the Xizhao symbol to him.

Her father was so worried about Sang Qi.  He said if something morbid happens to her he will be dead.

She assured him that she was fine.  Though she was limping, she can still walk, she can run and she can jump but she can’t fly (her qi was running low for the moment)😭😭😭

Still, her father put her under a curfew for her safety.

Unfortunately, Sang Qi does not do curfews so when went out in the dead of night in the forest to look for the sky master.

Episode 7

Who she found was DC who was surprised to see her in the forest at night.

She told him about the White Robe master she was desperate to find.

She was so desperate she had been asking everyone about him.

DC escorted back home and helped her get inside as the mansion was locked because of the imposed curfew towards Sang Qi by her father to keep her safe.

This scene was rather controversial with viewers because suddenly Sang Qi who was free flying in Episode 1 can’t seem to fly high up the wall to get back into the mansion.

Well she did explain this in Episode Six.

Meanwhile, DC spoke to Su Jie Yu about their relationship that they can never be.

Su JIe Yu half-asked if it was because of Sang Qi.  She said that the normally taciturn DC had changed when he was with Sang Qi,  He was willing to debate with Sang Qi and therefore more vocal.

Anyway, DC was coming to terms with his feelings for Sang Qi. He asked his assistant, Bai Shi, for some advice using the I have a friend who likes a girl scenario…

Bai Shi told him that he looks like he was in love with Sang Qi.

DC said he had not mentioned Sang Qi.

Episode 8

Zhou Wen Yuan is working with Qian Jiu who is part of the Xizhao clan.

Wen Yuan warned Qian Jiu that he knew it was her you tried to assassinate Sang Qi.  He said he can tolerate most things but hurting Sang Qi was a different matter altogether.

It looks like their mastermind was the Noble Consort Zhou who is Wen Yuan’s aunt.

Yan Yan excitedly told Sang Qi that he now knew the whereabouts of the White Robe Master.

With the blessing of Sang Qi’s father, Sang Qi and Yan Yan and Lian Pian with the male servants trek into the mountains to find the master.

Sang Qi was rather dubious because the map given to them was too straightforward with shortcuts.  It doesn’t sound like a place for a hermitic master.

But the map was right and they found the master and also DC which surprised them.

Apparently, the master was DC’s second uncle.

Anyway, the second uncle refused to take any disciples especially from those who have the potential to be famous.

But he did change his mind.  However, he would only take one disciple.  The condition was that the person who will be his disciple will have to give him DC’s middle garment.

Sang Qi complained saying that she’s a girl but the master is adamant about his condition.

Sang Qi was crafty but the master advicedYan Yan to be straightforward and just asked DC for his middle garment.

Yan Yan became the master’s disciple and Sang Qi was aggrieved.

Episode 9

Sang Qi returned home but went back to the mountains again followed by Wen Yuan.

Though she was more of a slave rather than a disciple of the master, she ended up learning from him but she also learned from DC.

The master was very insightful.  He said that DC could have taught her martial arts but she would always be wondering about the white robe master, so he aided her in locating the master’s whereabouts.

Sang Qi also found out that the DC had been protecting her all along.

Poor Wen Yuan, the noble consort assigned her to find the tea supplier but he chose to follow Sang Qi to the mountains instead.

All his plotting was coming to naught as well,  he wanted to be trapped in a cave with Sang Qi just like when they were children, instead, Sang Qi was trapped with DC.

Episode 10

DC & Sang Qi were rescued.  Wen Yuan, in desperation, used his bare hands to dig them up out of the cave.

Seeing that DC was getting all of Sang Qi’s attention, Wen Yuan fainted.

DC and Wen Yuan started vying for Sang Qi’s attention.

Lu Si has a really good posture for sword fighting.  Clean lines.

Seeing that DC was really upset because she implied that he was only pretending about his injury.

She apologised for what she said, she also mentioned that she was really concerned about his injury.

He asked what would she do if his injury was more grave.

She honestly said that she would look after him until he dies.  Classic!!!😜😜😜

She added that she was going to take responsibility for him. Awww

Episode 11

It was Su Jie Yu’s birthday party.  She only invited the young people so they could have a good party.

Unfortunately, it did not turn as she expected because before she could get together with DC, he dumped her in front of the guest who were expecting an engagement announcement.

Episode 12

The Grand Commander should fire Lian Pian because she had become useless as a lady’s made to Sang Qi.  She was practically living with Yan Yan.

Meanwhile, Sang Qi and DC could not find the time or opportunity to be together.  Wen Yuan was like an extra appendage to Sang Qi lately.

It was Song Luo Tian’s wedding which Sang Qi and her maid gatecrashed because the maid said that Yan Yan went to the party and would likely to cause trouble.

What they found was Song Luo Tian and Yan Yan rediscovering their childhood friendship.

DC also attended the party to investigate the Songs and their involvement in drug trafficking.

While he was looking at the warehouse, Sang Qi followed him.  They almost got found out but they managed to hide side by side on the floor.

Episode 13

Before the big exam, Class Yellow, were allowed to go to the tea field to see how the farmers go about their business.

This exercise was actually a cover for DC to investigate the field which were being used to grow poppies for opium.

There were many cute scenes of the guys with Lusi in the field.

DC made Wen Yuan his roommate to make sure that he did not go wandering into Sang Qi’s room at night.

Wen Yuan asked DC whether he likes Sang Qi as a woman or just a sister of his friend, Sang Yu.

DC said that he like Sang Qi and was prepared to fight for her affection.

During lunch, Su Jie Yu turned up with food which she shared with everyone. She said she specially brought Sang Qi’s favourite dishes.

DC was not happy that Su JIe Ya turned up and told her so.  He said that he will not feel anything for her except for friendship.

Sang Qi was in her room when Wen Yuan turned up with a bento.

Episode 14 – Highlight Episode.  The most romantic, the cutest and funniest!  

Sang Qi and Wen Yuan were just about to eat when there was a knock of her door.

Sang Qi asked Wen Yuan to hide as it was highly prohibited to have visitors in the bedroom at night.

Wen Yuan obliged and hid under her bed.

The next visitor was Yan Yan who wanted to ask her about something but was interrupted by a knock on her door.

Yan Yan hid under her bed as well and was surprised that there was one already there.

The new visitor was DC.

Sang Qi tried to get DC to leave but he wanted to have tea with her first.

Then there was another knock, this time it was Su Jie Yu.

DC wanted to leave by the door but Sang Qi told him that it was inappropriate given that it was the middle of the night.  So she told him to hid and yes, under the bed as well.

DC was shocked to find two men under Sang Qi’s bed.

Sang Qi was so stressed but not as much as when she heard what Su Jie Yu had come to say.

Su Jie Yu said that she thought about what she and Sang Qi talked about her feelings for DC.

Su Jie Yu said that Sang Qi was not in love with DC.  What Sang Qi was feeling was brotherly love, it is a transferance of her affection for her dead brother to DC.

DC could not take anymore and was rather worried about what Sang Qi was thinking so he pushed Yan Yan to come out from under the bed.

Su Jie Yu was surprised about Yan Yan under the bed.  Then to make it less salacious, DC also pushed out Wen Yuan from under the bed.

They explained that they were having tea and talking about school and the test; they had to hide as they are not allowed in the bedroom.

Su Jie Yu left hurriedly.

Then DC came out and was not happy about the boys in Sang Qi’s room. They told him that he was also at Sang Qi’s room.

The poppy growers were rounded up but the lead farmer from the Song field said that the land had been rented to Mr. Wei.

Mr. Wei was arrested.  DC knew that Mr. Wei was being used.  Sang Qi told him that Mr Wei was unafraid because he knew he will not be executed.

DC concluded that because Mr Wei had an influential backer.

DC asked to meet Sang Qi at the scenic riverside.

The gorgeous Sang Qi asked DC what he wanted to talk about, she asked if it was about her brother, or school or perhaps…

DC said that he doesn’t want to talk about all those things. He asked if she can think of what he wanted to discuss with her.

Sang Qi looked clueless so he gave her a hint by kissing her gently.  Awww so cute.

Sang Qi was pleasantly shocked but became excited when DC told her that he loves her. Awwww🤗🥰😍

Sang Qi said that the kiss was so light it did not register so she pulled him to her and kissed him passionately.

The lovebirds could not get enough of each other.

Sang Qi asked him when he first fell for her.  He would not tell her that it was love at first sight.  In fact, his attraction to her had turned him mute during the first episode.

He then asked Sang Qi, but she teased him and said she will not tell him.

Sang Qi asked DC what was his plan for the future.

He happily said that he will marry her after graduation. Awww

She asked him to keep their relationship a secret for now or until graduation.

It was hard to keep the relationship hidden as they can’t get enough of each other.  Yan Yan even commented that if he does not know any better he would think that DC and Sang Qi are dating.

DC said that he had a foolproof idea.

The idea was that he would treat Sang Qi badly and punish her.

But DC went over the top and punished her even for the minutest thing.

This got so bad when they were together in a room where DC could not help himself but squeeze the cute cheeks of Sang Qi,  when one of the teachers came into the room, DC slapped Sang Qi to cover up how intimate they were a few moments ago.

Sang Qi was shocked but not as shocked as the teacher who told off DC for resorting to violence to discipline a student.  The teacher told Sang Qi that he heard she was a bit rowdy but DC should not hit her.

He told DC to discipline his students in some other ways.

When the teacher was gone, Sang Qi ran after DC to hit him back.

DC told her to slap him in the face.  He was so shocked at himself.

Sang Qi knew and let him off.

DC took Sang Qi on a date.  They had a good time eating ramen noodles to which at first DC was not sure about as he thought the utensils were unsanitary.

Sang Qi just brushed his concerns aside.

DC was a man in love so whatever Sang Qi wants, Sang Qi gets so he tried the noodles.  He could not get enough of it.  It was so good.

He realised that he did not have the money to pay for their dinner and Sang Qi did not have any either.  So the two did an ‘ate and run’.

DC told her that he will send Bai Shu to settle up their bill in the morning.

Episode 15

These two beautiful people had a passionate time and can’t get enough of each other.

DC then asked Sang Qi to watch the fireworks by the bridge.

Sang Qi was loving the fireworks so much she missed it when DC whispered that he was going to get them something to drink.

She was very concerned that DC was not by her side anymore.  But then she saw him coming towards her with a couple of drinks.

She hugged him tightly and was about to take a drink when she remembered that he had no money.  She was all concerned that he was corrupted so easily that he took the drinks without paying.

DC assured her that he paid.  He said he had also paid for their meal.  It was just that he wanted to make their date memorable that he pretended they were fugitives from the ramen restaurant.

Sang Qi chastised DC that it was not exciting to be doing something wrong.

At the academy the next morning, Wei Zhang Hong was taken forcibly by the guards because of his father’s supposed cultivation of poppies.

It was only a cover because the real culprit was Grand Tutor Song who came to the academy the next morning to pontificate.

But the students led by Sang Qi had something waiting for him.

They plotted to make him chopped the tree that annoyed him so much,  Unfortunately for him, the tree was mandated by the Emperor was something spiritual.

The Grand Tutor became a laughing stock amongst the students and at the imperial court.

The Grand Tutor requested the Emperor to remove the DC from the academy.

The students were very upset that DC was no longer a teacher at the academy.

Episode 16

Official Wei and Wei Zhang Hong were being taken to Jingzhou escorted by DC.

It so happened that Sang Qi was drinking at the Qingfeng Restaurant when Song Liu Tian came barging in wanting a private room.

Sang Qi allowed him to drink with her.

Song Liu Tian drunk a lot because he was really upset that Wei Zhong Hong was carted out and will never be seen again in the Capital.

He said that he grew up with him and he then mentioned that he used him to prank her at the academy.

Sang  Qi asked him about the pranking.

She was told that he asked Wei Zhang Hong to put laxatives on the food but instead she got poisoned.

Sang Qi twigged that Wei Zhang Hong was not innocent at all.  He was part of Xizhou so she went to Jingzhou to warn DC.

She was just in time. DC and the soldiers were already fighting off the ambushers who were Xizhou led by Miss Qian.

Sang Qi helped in the fight but was almost stabbed if DC did not cover her with his body.  He got stabbed instead.

Sang Qi left DC to Bai Shi to look after while she gave chase to the Weis and the assailants.

It was too late though, Official Wei’s had his throat cut already while Wei Zhang Hong jumped from the ravine when he was cornered by Miss Qian and her army.

Once again, Wen Yuan reminded Qian Lu not to touch Sang Qi.

DC was treated by a medical doctor sent for by Sang Qi.

When he got better he went back to the academy to say goodbye to the students.

He then went to Sang Qi’s house and had a mini talk with her father.  He was very forthright and asked that he wanted to marry Sang Qi.

The father did not turn him down absolutely but warned him that their families will be put under so much pressure.

DC was confident they could overcome whatever these pressures may bring.

DC’s father told his unemployed son to go to Chenliu for a position that is suited for him.

Episode 17

DC asked Sang Qi if she wanted him to go.

Sang Qi was vehement for him to stay, stay together.

It so happened the students already started a petition to bring back DC to the academy after the standard of achievement of the students started going downhill.

The petition was given to Emperor who called the Grand Tutor to decide what has to be done.

The Grand Tutor at first tried to decline but the Emperor said that it was his call as he chased the DC out of the academy.

The Grand Tutor had no choice but to temporarily reinstate DC to his old position.  `He will become the permanent DC once the students get a better exam result from those of previous year’s graduates.

It was the start of extreme revising, it was really punishing but the students were all for it as they wanted to get the better result for DC’s sake.

It was the day of the examination at the academy.

The Grand Commander commander Sang Qi to not put herself under too much pressure.  If the exam is too hard, she had to throw away her paintbrush and leave.

What a father!!!

Qian Lu had told Wen Yuan that the days of protecting Sang Qi and the DC to a certain extent is over.  The boss had ordered shoot to kill for Sang Qi and DC if they interfere in there business once again.

Episode 18

After the examination, there the students came out in varying states.  Yan Yan was confident and euphoric, some were hesitant, some were hopeful, Wen Yuan knew he will be a top scholar while Sang Qi felt empty.

I just have to mention this.  LuSi’s next drama to be shown is likely to be Who Rules The World opposite the gorgeous Yang Yang.

Yes, Yang Yang is absolutely gorgeous, you could even say beautiful but Xu Kai Cheng is oozing 100% machismo.  He is sex on two legs. 🤗🤗🤗

Anyway, after a week or so, the exam results came out

Everybody was on tenterhook except Wen Yuan who instinctively knew that he will be top of the list.  He was right.

Yan Yan was ecstatic to get into the honour roll but San Qi did even better at number 18 of Second Class.

It was the graduation exercise.

DC had parting advice to Wen Yuan.  He told him to stay on the path of straight and narrow

Wen Yuan said that to get what he wanted he was willing to go everywhere.

He is really in love with Sang Qi from way back when they were children.

Episode 19

Wen Yuan confessed to Sang Qi that he had loved her since he could remember.  He also said that he knew she and DC are in love but he had to tell her as well that he wanted to marry her.

Sang Qi told him that there is no need to hold any hope of them getting together because she was determined to be DC’s wife.

She then shoot an arrow into a tree trunk and said that even if there is a great bow if there is nothing really to shoot at then it was really useless.  She then return the bow he gifted to her to Wen Yuan.  She added that he persisted in wanting to marry her then she would even rethink their friendship.

Sang Qi then left.

I would have really felt sorry for the gorgeous Wen Yuan but we know that he has a hidden agenda and was a puppet of the Xizhou clan headed by the Noble Consort.

Lian Pian told the Commander that she wanted to get married.  As she had been a part of the family, he agreed to add her in the family register as his daughter.  The third Miss of the Sang family.

I don’t like Lian Pian!!!  She had always been looking after herself and her romantic overtures towards Yan Yan rather than her boss, Sang Qi.

Meanwhile, Yan Yan had finally asked his mother to prepare his dowry because he was ready to get married to the Sang Family.

Though not overly enthusiastic, Yan Yan’s mother prepared the dowry and proposal but she got a shock when instead of the Commander’s daughter Sang Qi, Yan Yan wanted to marry the maid.

His mother was so scandalised she halted the wedding proposal.

Episode 20

Despite passing the exam with honours, Sang Qi was not given an appointment because she was a woman.

Some of my classmates felt sorry for her and found it most unfair especially when men who just barely passed the same exam were given new jobs.

When DC asked her what job she really wanted to do, Sang Qi confided that she wanted to stay at the academy to inspire other women.

DC immediately went to see the Emperor and convinced him that appointing Sang Qi to be in charged of the archives at the academy would be a win-win situation for the Emperor.

As he put it that way, the Emperor approve of the request and appointed Sang Qi to work in the archive at the academy.

As soon as he got back, he changed clothes and made himself more handsome then went to see Sang Qi.]

He pretended that it was no joy with the Emperor.

Sang Qi remained cheerful and told DC not to worry.  Everything had been sorted by Wen Yuan.

She got her appointment to work at the archive at the academy.

Wen Yuan then showed up like a cat who got the cream.

Oopss.

Anyway, DC let it go because it was his own fault.  He should have told Sang Qi what he had been up to immediately.

The next day, he went to Sang Qi’s house with his dowry and proposed to marry her.

Her father still would not accept his proposal so Sang Qi said that she was going to accept it herself.

The father and daughter bickering was interrupted by the arrival of Wen Yuan with his dowry and the proposal of marriage for Sang Qi as well.

The Grand Commander was about to accept it when Sang Qi and DC stopped him with sleight of hands.

In the end, DC and Wen Yuan will have to fight a duel.  The winner will marry Sang Qi.

Wen Yuan spoke to Sang Qi’s father and said that he intend to marry Sang Qi.

The father said that if he wins then he could marry Sang Qi but at this point, he doesn’t favour anyone because Sang Qi had to choose and the best way was to see who is able to protect her the most.

Episode 21

The duel was held on a raised dais where the one who fell off it or is flat on his back for long will be the loser.

At first, DC did not put full power in his moves as he was way too strong for the young Wen Yuan.  But in the end, he did and with one hand Wen Yuan was flat on his back and then DC picked him up and threw him off towards the edge when Wen Yuan started to fight dirty by flicking a steel blade from his sleeve.

The Commander said that the contest was not over because DC had not fought with the strongest man yet and that was him.

DC allowed the Commander to rough him up a bit which pleased the Commander and declared him as the winner.

Poor Wen Yuan lost and to cap it up, he was scolded by the Noble Consort for a job not well done.

The Noble Consort told Wen Yuan to settle for Song Jia Yin whose father, the Grand Tutor, would be easier to manage.

Wen Yuan asked for a little more time.

This time he went to the archive where Sang Qi was now in charge.

While they were inside the building, Jing Mu, Wen Yuan’s bodyguard, secretly locked them in.

In the meantime, DC was looking for Sang Qi and went to her house where he saw her worried father who thought that Sang Qi was with DC.

They were all worried including Lian Pian who is now another of the house with her fiance, Yan Yan who had moved in with them having been thrown out by his mother.

DC told the Commander that he will search for Sang Qi.  The first point of search was the archive building which he surprisingly locked by an alien key, not from the academy.

Before Bai Shi could find a suitable key to unlock the door, DC had already kicked it open and there was Sang Qi looking all worried with a grinning Wen Yuan.

DC picked Sang Qi up and told Wen Yuan to stop his tricks because he was now engaged to Sang Qi.

Anyway, DC concocted a way that Sang Qi could not be alone with anyone in the archive room.  He opened it to the public, thus creating the first public library.

It was well patronised as both men and women can go peruse the many reading materials in the archive.

Episode 22

The library had become a popular venue for everyone including Song Jia Yu who came dressed up to the nines and once again sprayed herself with her perfume liberally.

Sang Qi had to asked her to leave as she was a walking noise with her earrings and accessories tinkling loudly.

Song Jia Yu would not have it and started haranguing Sang Qi for being envious of her prettiness.

Wen Yu was listening and then grabbed Song Jia Yu in his arms to take her away.

There and then Song Jia Yu noticed how handsome Wen Yuan was and started feeling all kinds of excitement.

She went to see Sang Qi later to tell her that she could now have the DC all to herself because she was so over him.

She now wants Zhou Wen Yuan all to herself.  She then flounced out without waiting for Sang Qi to say anything.

The people in the library were not all accepting Sang Qi having gotten her position due to her hard work.

The men are gossiping that she got the job because of influential backers like her father, the Commander.

DC who overheard what was being said was going to intervene but Sang Qi stopped him and she sorter her vocal detractor fairly easily.

She asked them to name a book and she could tell them where it was located.

The misogynistic man named a book.

Sang Qi thought about it and found the book fairly easily as she has already started arranging them using an ancient Dewey Decimal System. 😜😜😜

The man was so impressed and so were those who were watching them including DC.

Sang Qi pranked DC; pretending that she did not know it was his birthday.

He can’t take it anymore so he told her that it was his birthday which Sang Qi said she knew.  She then sweetly gave her pouch which he accepted happily.

Their sweetness was interrupted by a servant who said that there was something major that had happened.

The Yan family had been arrested.

DC and Sang Qi went to the Yan Mansion and found Yan Yan and Lian Pian outside trying to get into the already sealed gate.

The police constabulary lead by Song Luo Tian turned up to arrest Yan Yan as well.

Sang Qi went mental but DC told her to calm down.

The head investigator to Prefecture Court turned up but he can’t say much more aside from the Yans having been arrested and there was a witness to their supposed crime.

Sang Qi was commandeered to help question the witness.  She pretended to be a prisoner who had just been questioned. She then put the fear of waterboarding to the witness prisoner.

They later found out that the Yan were involved in salt contrabands.

Salt at one time had been more precious than gold.  In fact, the Romans used to pay their soldiers with salt instead of money.  The monthly stipend was called salarium, the sal meant salt. Salarium came to the English language later on and became a salary.

Episode 23

Yan Yan had been let out of prison after the false witness retracted some of what he said.  But his father was still kept in jail.

Meanwhile, Wu Yuan could not just let go of Sang Qi and in a way, he wanted to be with her to protect her.

But to get her, he plotted with his noble consort aunt to cause more mayhem for Sang Qi so she goes to him for help.

Sang Qi’s father was arrested for treachery.  A witness gave evidence that the Commander had a connection with Xizhou.

And because of this, Sang Qi became a pariah and was humiliated.  She and DC were turned down for a table at the Qingfeng Restaurant.

Song Jia Yi exacerbated Sang Qi’s humiliation by telling her that her family was treacherous at the crowded restaurant.

Poor DC felt helpless and all he could do was to take Sang Qi away.

Sang Qi got information that the witness might be Wei Zhong Hong who came back from the dead.

Officer Yan Sang Lan said that the whereabouts of Wei Zhong Hong can’t be ascertained.

Sang Qi had lunch with her former classmates, though they were sympathetic as they hold the Commander in the highest esteemed they can’t help either.

Only Wen Yuan is her last card.

He was very happy to see her and wanted to show her his mansion and had her favourite food cooked by his chef.

But Sang Qi did not waste any time niceties.

She asked Wen Yuan if he knew where Wei Zhong Hong was.

He was surprised with her question.  He said that he could help her get her father our if they become family.

She asked if he meant he wanted to marry her.

Poor Wen Yuan confirmed it and said it was the only way she could save her father if she becomes a family of the Zhou.

She immediately declined and said that he should remember the time when her father looked after him when he was in the fortress.

Wen Yuan said he remembered and also recalls so many things that he did do for her.  They were so closed and as soon as she entered the academy all she cared about was DC.

Suddenly she had no time for him anymore.

Sang Qi told him that he cannot blackmail her with her father.

More plotting!  The Noble Consort invited Su Jia Yun to the palace where she met the emperor.  The Noble Consort introduced her to the Emperor who said that he had heard of her.

Anyway, the Consort said that Su Jia Yun was now on a marriageable age but the men she knew were not to her liking so the Noble Consort asked the Emperor if he could suggest someone suitable.

The Emperor said that he would leave this matter to the Noble Consort, who said to Su Jia Yun that she can have the man she likes.

Of course, that man could only be DC.

Episode 24

This is a bittersweet episode.  It is about the many kinds of love.

Yes, DC got the edict from the Emperor that he had to marry Su Jie Yi.

This now made a relationship with Sang Qi impossible as you can’t go against the Emperor.

DC assured Sang Qi that he would only be with her but then Sang Qi knew that DC then would get into fatal trouble.

So she took the matters unto her hand and went to Zhou Wen Yuan and agreed to marry him but he had to make sure that her father was released.

Zhou Wen Yuan promised her and arranged immediately a wedding.

Meanwhile, while promenading on the street Song Jia Yun saw and confronted Sang Qi.

They had a heart-to-heart where Song Jia Yun accused Sang Qi of victimizing her.  First Sang Qi took her first husband, the DC and now Sang Qi was after her second husband as well.

Anyway, events move on so fast and it was the wedding day parade.

Wen Yuan looks handsome and so happy like a cat who got the cream.

But the peaceful ceremonial parade was interrupted by the appearance of DC in the middle of the road.

He begged and begged Sang Qi to run away with him.

As he was not going to move any time soon, Wen Yuan ordered his prearranged guard to sort out DC.

DC’s hands and waist were tied with ropes which were being pulled in four corners by the men.

Still he would not stop begging for Sang Qi to leave with him.

More men came and started hitting him with planks of wood.

Lian Pian intervened and told Wen Yuan to stop because it was his auspicious day and must not be marred by violence.

Anyway, the wedding party finally got to the Zhou Mansion.

Wen Yuan could not be happier while watching his new bride still ceremonially shrouded in red thick veil.

He wanted to start over and that he will love her unconditionally and that she would be at his side for all time.

His bride would nod her head once and again.

When he asked if he could see her face and shortcut the ceremony, she agreed.

Whoa!  He was surprised! He was marrying the wrong bride.

Before him was Song Jia Yi who was so happy, telling him that she had the best time in her life especially during the procession when DC and Wen Yuan were fighting over her.  She continued that she had never imagined this even in her wildest dream but it happened.

Yes, Sang Qi is a badass girl. You cannot underestimate the love of a daughter to her father who happens to be her best friend as well.  She will do anything and more.  She punished Wen Yuan for trying to blackmail her using her father.

I am loving Sang Qi even more.

Anyway, nothing is wrong with Song Jia Yi.  She is cute; given a chance, she could really make Wen Yuan happy.  He was just too obsessive with regards to Sang Qi.

Meanwhile, the prefecture officer with Sang Qi, DC, and Yan Yan managed to smuggle out Wei Zhong Hong from where he was being hidden.

He said that he had waited a long time to get revenge on Sang Qi and DC for the murder of his father.

They told him that his father was killed by the Xizhou gang.

This changed his tune and confessed all to the Emperor.

The Emperor then immediately ordered the release of the Commander.

As the Emperor seemed in a benevolent mood, DC asked about reevaluating the marriage edict…

Episode 25

This episode is about how DC, Sang Qi, Yan Yan, Officer Yan, and his posse plotted to abduct Wei Zhong Hong from the Zhou Mansion. (This what was plotted in Episode 24)

Sang Qi convinced Song Jia Yi to marry Zhou Wen Yuan in her place.  At first, Song Jia Yi was rather wary about doing it but Sang Qi said that she just had to marry Wen Yuan herself and Jia Yi would just be a concubine.

This was what convinced Song Jia Yi to change place with Sang Qi at the Sang Manor gate.  She said she is no concubine!!!

It was all carefully arranged including the evening before the wedding where Sang Qi said her goodbye to the heartbroken DC.

It was also part of the plot when DC tried to stop the wedding party.

Sang Qi with her Kung Fu Master was at the Zhou Mansion waiting for Bai Shi to distract the  Zhou guards.

As soon as the guards left their post, Sang Qi and the Master went to get Wei Zhong Hong.

Wei Zhong Hong, after confessing all to the Emperor, led Officer Yan to where the ledger was hidden.  It was in a buried coffin.  They were ambushed by the Xizhou who almost overpowered them but more Prefecture guards turned up headed by Yan Yan.

So the ledger was safe and sound with Prefecture officer Yan.

Wen Yuan was in despair and feeling guilty that he may have a hand in the death of Sang Qi’s brother.  As much as he was being used by his aunt the Noble Consort, he does care for the Sangs.

Apparently, Sang Yu saw the List of the Xizhou members which Wen Yuan was supposed to pick at the pharmacy.  Unfortunately, he picked Sang yu’s prescription while Sang Yu got and read the List.

Wen Yuan mentioned the mistake to the Noble Consort who said that she will sort it out.

Now, Wen Yuan realised that Sang Yu was murdered at the instigation of his aunt.

Knowing that he could really never be with his beloved Sang Qi, he got drunk and then the next morning went back to his mansion with Qian Yu and Mrs. Zhang in tow which annoyed Song Jia Yi.

Wen Yuan told her that if she has any problem with him inviting guests to the mansion, she could always get an annulment.

Meanwhile as to Sang Qi and DC, they can’t get married as the Emperor said that he can only retract his edict if Miss Su agreed.

Miss Su was not agreeing so DC told her that the Emperor might have issued an edict to marry her but there was no recommended date.

Episode 26

DC & Sang Qi examined the dead Xizhao and realised that they came from all walks of life.  With their intel, Officer Yan and his Prefecture Court started arresting other Xizhao.  Their covert operation was a success that Mrs Zhang decided to mount a rescue operation.

Qian Yun asked Wen Yuan for help but he said that the Emperor was wary of him because of the issue regarding Wei Zhong Hong.  The only thing he could do for her was to help her get away and settle somewhere else.

He arranged for her the transport, documentation, and enough money to live by.

But in the end, Qian Yun decided to go with Mrs Zhang to rescue their people.

The Prefecture Court was expecting them and was ready and waiting.  In no time, they were able to round all the Xizhao.

Jing Mu who was hiding on the roof shot Mrs. Zhang to death.  DC found a token seal from Mrs. Zhang confirming that she was the leader of Xizhao.

They then unmasked Qian Yun and had her arrested.

As their master had fallen, the other members of Xizhao sang like a canary but Qian Yun held on until Sang Qi went to see her.

She admitted freely that she killed Sang Yu because he went where he want supposed to be and read what he wasn’t supposed to read.

Qian Yun said that Sang Qi could do whatever she wanted.

Sang Qi said that she wanted Qian Yun to tell her who the mastermind was.  This Qian Yun declined to oblige with.

Wen Yuan smuggled himself to jail as a guard and gave poisoned cakes to Qian Yun.

He was very upset about it but he said that the punishment she will received was worst and he doesn’t want her to suffer.

She loved him and gave him a back hug.  He was really upset because he did like her, in fact he might have loved her but not as obsessively as he loves Sang Qi.

Sang Qi and DC decided to have another go of questioning with Qian Yun.

They saw her holding a cake and was about to eat it.

They told her that if she gives the name of the mastermind, her punishment might not be too harsh.

Qian Yun still refused as she bit into the cake.  She told them that she had been a living corpse since she was a child when Xizhao adopted her.  She was trained as a killing machine.

It was only ‘him’ that treated her as a human being. Suddenly she started spitting blood and told a very concerned Sang Qi who held her in her arms that it was too late. The cake was poisoned.  To the very end, she protected Wen Yuan.

And Wen Yuan was very upset.  He went to Qian Yun’s room and touch her gujin.  His heart was broken.

Episode 27

Awww! Dear old Grand Commander has been let out and had a lovely and heartwarming reunion with Sang Qi.

Another school term is about to start; recruitment was being planned of allowing more females from all backgrounds to enroll.

But then Zhou Wen Yuan turned up to spoil the fun.  He said that the office of the minister of education and culture had put a stop to perestroika and glasnost.  Old traditions still had to remain inplace.

Sang Qi was so annoyed but DC stopped her.

Meanwhile, Governor Yan of the Prefecture Court and DC went to investigate the remainders of Xizhou which was still operating out of town.

It was a bloody fight with Governor Yan attacked by one of his guards/soldiers.  Xizhao had infiltrated even the Prefecture Court.  Governor Yan was badly injured.

In the meantime, DC was overpowered with the Xizhao clans and was eventually cornered by a ravine in which he was pushed leaving just his pouch.

Sang Qi with Yan Yan and the Prefecture Court guards searched for DC where he fell.  They then found the planted pouch by the river far from where it fell from DC when he was fighting for his life and limbs.

Anyway, Sang Qi took the pouch and became her only connection to the missing DC.

There was a court hearing where a guard testified that DC was working with Xizhou and he was the one who ordered the ambush on the prefecture court guard as well as who attacked Governor Yan who continued to be comatose.

Then Wen Yuan presented a ledger and another one he porputedly found in DC’s room.  It showed that his connection with Xizhou.

Poor Sang Qi became so ill and the doctor said that the toxin is attacking her body

It looks like Wen Yuan’s love for her is an obsession because if he cannot have her then no one will, hence, when the pouch found at the ravine and was surrendered to him by Jing Mu, Wen Yuan put the highly toxic white powder into the pouch which had been unwittingly poisoning Sang Qi.

Episode 28

There is no end to Wen Yuan’s power.

As Governor Yan was incapacitated, Wen Yuan had taken the role of Prefecture Court Governor.

Anyway, he sent an assassin to murder Governor Yan in his bed but when the assassin turned up he was surprised by Yan Yan and his guard.

Governor Yan had been taken by Master Yan into the mountains.

It turned out that Grand Commander found the unconscious DC by the riverside and took him back to the Sang Mansion.

DC recuperated at Sang Yu’s room.

When really troubled Sang Qi would habitually go to her brother’s room and talk to his lifesize painting.  She was telling him all her woes and asked her brother to send her a size to solve all her problems.

In walked DC who was not quite well yet but opened up his arms hoping for a happy reunion with ?Sang Qi.

Sang Qi ran towards him and then gave him a big punch on the chest to make sure that he was real.

He was real and hurting because he was still not 100% well.

Sang Qi and DC started plotting how to take down Wen Yuan who has the ears of the Emperor.

So Sang Qi tried to be slightly friendlier with Wen Yuan.

Wen Yuan was obsessed.  He admitted to Jing Mu that he would rather have Sang Qi die that anyone else having her.

Sang Qi found out that Wen Yuan had replaced DC as the DC of the Academy.  So Wen Yuan as the new DC undid all the changes that Yan Yun Zhi made at the college.  He even fired Sang Qi from being the master librarian.

This really annoyed Sang Qi who gatecrashed the academy which made entry by appointment only.

Anyway, Wen Yuan told Sang Qi that he will consider her position if she went on a date with him during the Spring Festival.

Sang Qi was forced to agree.

During the date, Sang Qi managed to shake off Wen Yuan. She was grabbed by DC and they had a pantomime of DC telling her that she was a loose woman who had forgotten him immdiately.

Because of the shouting by DC to a very aggrieved Sang Qi, Wen Yuan found them.  DC immediately had Sang Qi in an armlock and started saying that he was very disheartened with Sang Qi.  He used Sang Qi to get away because as soon as DC saw a doorway he can scaped to, he pushed Sang Qi away from him.

Sang Qi was brokenhearted which Wen Yuan happy,

Later that night, when Sang Qi went back to her room, DC was already waiting for her and full of apology.

Sang Qi played hard to get and said that DC really pushed her too hard.

DC was very repentant.

They made up but interrupted by Lian Pian who told them that Wen Yuan and his soldiers were searching the ground.

Wen Yuan pushed his way into Sang Qi’s room.

Sang Qi told him that it was out of order to for him to be in her room at that time of night.

As a curtain parted her from Wen Yuan, he could not see that DC was hiding under the bedclothes.

Anyway, he left because he could not really search her bed.

But the next morning he came back again to make a more thorough search of the mansion.

The stress and the poison got into Sang Qi, she collapsed in front of her concerned father and Wen Yuan.

Episode 29

I am so glad that Sang Qi and DC are always one step ahead of Wen Yuan who is fast turning into a megalomaniac.

While with Sang Qi was was dying. There is no cure.  Even Song Jia Yi came to visit and was  very very upset that Sang Qi was going downhill fast.

Wen Yuan stayed by her side.

She categorically told him that she knew he poisoned her.  As he would not talk, she said that she assumed he agrees.

She then said that he was not the boy she used to know, who was kind and gentle.

Wen Yuan admitted that she was right and that it was her cavorting with DC that had made him like what he is now.   I like how his character turned out into.  Very complex.

He said that she ignored him when he did so many things for her.  He helped her at school,  He protected her from Xizhao’s attack but she did not even notice it nor gave him a glance because she was way into DC.

He admitted that she was his weakness and then as she dies in his arms, he said that his weakness is gone as tears poured down his face.

Her funeral was attended by her schoolmates who could not believe that she was gone just like that.

Yan Yan told off Wen Yuan from turning up but he ignored Yan Yan.

Then as expected, DC also turned up but was prevented to see Sang Qi for the last time.

Wen Yuan ordered Jing Mu to pour petroleum on Sang Qi’s coffin and the mourning room.  Wen Yuan then lit it up and poor DC was left screaming for the dead Sang Qi.

Wen Yuan became more uncontrollable and a law unto himself.  He told his father-in-law who was his partner in corruption to bring in the loot, the money for their contrabands.

Yan Yan managed to speak to the Emperor.

And then a wheelchair-bound Governor Yan was back, searching the entirety of the Prefecture Court and found hidden golds and paper monies.

Episode 30

This episode is beautiful.  Beautifully sad, and beautifully happy.

I have to confess that I did not dare watch the four last episodes immediately because I don’t want it to be over.  I have enjoyed the drama so much and loved the characters.  I love the interplay between the characters.

Being the last episode, every ‘I’ must be dotted and ‘T’ crossed and that was what happened.

Governor Yan returned to duty, though in a wheelchair, and started to search for any evidence and they found a lot.

Jing Mu reported to Wen Yuan that their spies have not reported back.  He then added that Governor Yan is back and that DC had been exonerated from any wrongdoing.

They know that their time was up so they had to get away.

And they tried but waiting for them was DC, Bai Shi, and the prefecture court army.

Wen Yuan said that DC had underestimated him and out of the forest came the armed and masked black ninjas.  It was obvious that Wen Yuan came prepared.

But out of nowhere an arrow came soaring in.

Wen Yuan commented that DC had enlisted the Sang Army.

As he was talking, he saw Sang Qi riding in with the Sang army.

Wen Yuan was between shock and elation that Sang Qi was alive.  He could not believe it and told her that she had lied to him once again.

Knowing that it was the end for him, he challenged Sang Qi to end whatever they have together once and for all.

DC did not want Sang Qi to fight Wen Yuan but Sang Qi insisted.  She was so good but Wen Yuan was even better and for a couple of times he had to stop himself from killing or hurting Sang Qi. Sang Qi managed to defeat him and had her sword against his next but in the end she cannot kill him.

She told him that it was over, he had to surrender, go with them but he said he was too far gone, he then grabbed her sword and slashed his own neck.  As he laid on the ground, dying, he saw a montage of his happier times with Sang Qi.  He had a smile as he died. Cry, Cry Cry!!!

That was so sad.  Cried a bucket of tears.  Despite Wen Yuan going to the evil side, he did love her and did everything for her initially.  Ren Hao was so good.

The Emperor saw all the evidence of Wen Yuan’s wrongdoing.  All of Wen Yuan disciples and cohorts have been rounded up and dealt with.  Even the Noble Consort had been sent to the Cold Palace.

As to the Songs, the Grand Tutor was stripped of his title and sent to the Frontier Fortress.  His son, Song Luo Tian was demoted into a commoner but he elected to go with his father which impressed the Emperor a little bit.

Song Jia Yi had the cremation jar of her husband, Wen Yuan, to take to the frontier with her.

Song Luo Tian’s friendship with Yan Yan was beautiful.

Now the wedding of Sang Qi and DC.

Sang Qi had never looked more beautiful. She was majestic astride a horse as she rode alone to her wedding.

DC was gladly waiting for her.  He was so proud to see her all gorgeous and valiant.

The wedding ceremony culminated with a surprise wedding gift from the Emperor to Sang Qi.

She was elevated to being a scholar on par with her male counterpart who graduated from the academy with merits.

The Emperor also allowed the creation of a co-education school that does not discriminate on gender, age and status in life.

Sang Yu’s dream was realised through Sang Qi’s effect with immeasurable help from DC.

As to Su Jie Yu, she has the beginning of a romantic life with Governor Yan, who realised how glorious Su Jie Yan is.

Though Sang Qi is beautifully coiffeured as Scholar Sang, she told DC that she is his wife or he was her husband.

This drama has been controversial because of some rabid fans. They have created trending subject on social medias.

  1. They said that the novel this was based on had BL. 😜😜🤣.  And the BL was between DC and Sang Yu (Sang Qi’s brother) 😭😭🤪😝. This was apparently untrue.  Just some fans having fun and rumour mongering.
  2. Ren Hao fans were upset that Sang Qi used Wen Yuan and treated him like dirt afterwards. Sang Qi ignored all their lovely happy times together as childhood sweethearts.

I love this OST by Lu Si so much.  I can’t stop listening/watching to/it on youtube.
