Episode 1

I really enjoyed the first episode.  I thought the CGI was amazing, it gives the fighting real excitement.

Watchability Test:  It passed my expectation as I wanted to proceed to the next episode but I must try to control myself and give a summary of this episode first, otherwise I would forget and not do it.🤗

So the beginning blurb: 15 years ago Beili successfully oblitirated most of  Beique and Western Chu.

Some Beique managed to escape to the north to rebuild their forces and planned to return to their country one day.

Meanwhile, Western Chu fully embraced the culture and traditions of Beili and became one of them.  From the Western Chu, there was a very influential family, the Yan who became one of the two most powerful forces within the Beili Xinan Circuit. But they were determined to become the number one so when the noble Gu Family lost their leader, Gu Luoli, this gave the opportunity for Yan Beitian to seize the full contol of the Xinan Circuit.

The Yan forcefully requested a marriage alliance with the Gu.  Preferably with the second master of Gu.

Meanwhile, Bai Li Dong Jun and his waiter, Sikong Chang Feng, were so bored as they found that Chaisang City was so deserted.  He opened Dongqui Tavern in Chaisang City because it is the largest within the Xinan Circuit.   Bai Li Dong Jun was so disappointed because he aspires to be the best brewmaster in the land.  He is so proud of his wine but with no one drinking, no one would know about his wine so his much longed form fame and fortune is going down the drain fast.

But then, Yan Beitian and his entourage stopped at Dongqui Tavern.  Immediately Bai Li Dong served his best twelve wines. Yan Beitian said that the wine was good but he had better.  He then threw a glass to the napping Sikong Chang Feng who caught the glass intinctively.

They started fighting. Sikong Chang Feng is a master in martial art but Yan Beitian was so good.  In the end Yan Beitian let them go but as he was leaving, he ordered his minion to get rid of Bai Li Dong Jun and Sikong Chang Feng.

Bai Li Dong Jun and Sikong Chang Feng were cutely naive.  They did not for one second think of abandoning the tavern, in fact they decided to go to the Gu Mansion and invite the Secong Master for a drink up at the tavern.

They got caught in the middle of a duel between the Second Master and Su Muyu of Dark Water.

Su Muyu wanted ‘friendship’ with the Gu Family because they could have a symbiotic relationship.  They could do each other favours.

The Second Master turned down Su Muyu flatly. He said that when the Dark River appears, it always ends in slaughter and death.

So they had a beautifully choreographed fighting scene with lots of CGI. The Second Master was so good and had a good match in Su Muyu.

Muyu commented that the Second Master never had any intention of a cooperation but why did he did not just tell Muyu to eff off from the get go.

The Second Master said that he is confined to the mansion and had no one to spar with.  He needed a bit of exercise.

Muyu with two of the Harajuki Girls left the mansion and appeared in front of Bai Li Dong Jun and Sikong Chang Feng.

Muyu told them that they could leave.

When the hapless Dong Jun and Sikong arrived back at the tavern, a Yan operative was waiting for them.  He wanted a fight. Sikong fought with him; but when he defeated him the man turned into another person, a really huge guy.  Sikong advised Bai Li Dong to go.  Bai Li Dong went but a woman fighter barred his way out.  The woman was on another level of fighting.  She said that one will die and one will live but which one.  Bai Li Dong comically assumed that Sikong would sacrifice himself.

But then from the rafters, there was Lei Mengshe, the Eloquent Mr Zuomo, another one of the eight Young Masters of Baili.  Mengshe sexily said that no one is dying.  Gorgeous cast so far.

Episode 2

Mengshe is called the Eloquent Mr Zuomo because he could talk the hind legs off a donkey.🤣🤣🤣. But he has enormous power using the Striking Touch of the the Lei Clan.

The old lady with the lethal sawing needle with her boyfriend turned up.  She said that Mengshe was alone against them all.

Out of the sky, came down a very elegant Luo Xuao (Qingge) another of the 8 young masters of Baili.Apparently petals follows him. He is very cultured and can produce delicate teaset at the drop of a hat.🤣

Mengshe picked Dongjun and Sikong while Mr Qingge dealt with the baddies.

Later on, Mr Qingge joined the trio.

Dongjun wanted to know why the atmosphere in the city was so gloomy. Zuomo explained that there are two dominant noble families in Xinan Circuit.  The Gu Family runs the bank of Chaisang City while the Yan Family owns the jade shop of Kaiyang City.  But then six months ago, the First Master of the Gu Family, Gu Luoli, died suddenly. Now there are two candidates to lead the Gu family: Fifth Master Gu or Gu Jianmen.

The Fifth Master apparently joined hands with the Yan Family so he arranged a marriage with Gu Jianmen to Yan Liuli.  This arrangement would mean that the Yan Family would have complete control over the Gu Family.

Miss Yan suddenly turned up with a very unusual request.  She wanted them to kidnap her during the wedding.  She confessed that she loves and would only love the dead Gu Luoli.  She does not want to be pawn between the battle of power between the Gu and the Yan.

Dongjun volunteered to do the kidnapping for one reason alone.  He wanted to become famous or infamous.  He reminisced of what happened a year ago.  He met a fairy while he was with his master, the Scholarly Deity.  It was love at first sight though he did not see her whole face as she was partly wearing a mask. She did not tell him her name but told him that when he becomes famous all over the world, she would come to him wherever he was.

Dongjun reckons that offending the Yan was the first step to becoming famous.

Meanwhile, Liu Yue, another one of the 8 Masters of Beili, was on his way to the Capital when he was ambushed by the Yan.  However, Lingsu, a little girl maidservant of Liu Yue was so powerful

Then Mo Qixuan, the white haired deity from Sky’s Beyond turned up.  He said that he wanted to see the peerlessly handsome face of Liu Yue before he kills him.  But the Mr Moshen or Mo Xiaohei, another one of the 8 Young Masters of Beili, turned up as well and protected Liu Yue.  As white as Liu Yue was as dark was Mr Moshen.  And Mr Moshen beat up Mo Qixuan.

The fight was over the coffin of Gu Liuli, everyone seemed to want it.

Sikong apparently was termninally ill.  Dongjun promised to take him to a physician he knew.

Gu Jianmen was shown his wedding outfit but he said he wanted white.  His manservant said white is for funeral.  Gu Jianmen said that tomorrow was still up on the air, it might be a wedding or a funeral.

Dongjun finally learned that Dingzhi is Ye Yua, his friend who he missed terribly.

Master Li saved Dingzhi by taking him away from Prince Jingshi’s palace.  Dingzhi promised Wen Ju that he would come back for her in 6 months.

Dingzhi and Dongjun had a bittersweet reunion,  Dingzhi promised that he will be back.

Meanwhile, Dongjun was getting bored at the academy.  He asked Lei Menghsa when he would commence his martial art training.  Mengsha told him that the training was actually a self-training.  Master Li being his mentor is really in name only.  Dongjun had to learn and train by himself.

Episode 16

Mengsha brought Dongjun and Sikong to the brothel where the number one cortesan was playing a turne.

Mengsha said that the cortesan was extraordinary.  Gu Jianmen once proposed to the cortesan but she turned him down which was unprecedented.

Anyway, Sikong instinctively knew how to play the tune the cortesan was playing on the gujin.  The cortesan invited Sikong which was a great privelege as she normally does not like to see anyone.

The cortesan was was very interested to know whether he was her long long brother.

Sikong told her that he does not know was he has memory lapse of his boyhood.

Meanwhile, the Emperor had Mr Li called to an audience.  The Emperor was very interested about Dongjun.

The Grand Eunuch incited the Emperor insinuating that Dongjun was insulting the Emperor by trying to claim, the ‘Qiulubai wine which was brewed on the third year of the emperor’s rain, thus it is very important to the empire.  Mr Li protected Dongjun and said in no uncertain matter that no one was to touch Dongjun.  When the Emperor commented that it looks like Mr Li was going against him, Mr Li dismissed him and said that he was mortal Emperor whlle Mr Li is an immortal so go figure.

Mr Li’s immortality was tested to the hilt becasue the Emperor had arranged that he would be assassinated as he leaves the palace.  Mr Li just smirked, thinking that the assassination was so amateur .  He lifted his hand and with a simple flick of his fingers, his enemies were tumbling over including the sneaky Grand Eunuch.

Episode 17

Master Li found Sikong lurking in front of the academy.  He invited him to join the academy and told him that he will be the Spear Deity one day.

Sikong asked how Master Li knew that his prowess lies in spears.  Master Li said that he just look it.

I really love this drama but not so much of the romance part which drags the story.
