Crystallophobia

Phobia

Crystallophobia

Crystallophobia is not a very obscure phobia.

It is, of course, the fear or dread of crystal or glass.

The word is derived from Greek words crystallo, meaning crystal (doh!) and or glass, whilst phobia, is, of course, fear.

Some people are actually scared of crystals; this has in relation to a pathological fear of being injured or trapped inside a crystal or buildings made of glass walls, just like Superman in the Fortress of Solitude.

I must say I did not particularly like Superman’s Fortress of Solitude which is made of beams of crystals.  When I watched the film/drama series, I was wary of it,  I found the fortress too sharp.

Oops, probably I do have the minutest phobia of crystals.  Thank goodness it is not so huge otherwise, I have to give away my favourite Swarovski crystals costume jewellery assortments.

Peter has a rather vast collection of crystals, some are Swarovski crystals, which he started collecting in the 80s and some are those crystals that show etched figures inside.  He bought a lot when we were in New York.

The more I think about it, I reckon I do have a phobia of crystals, I don’t want to touch them so I shall leave the cleaning and the dusting to my good hubby. LOL
