A rose, in water, to its stem
Decoys a myriaad beads of air;
And, lovely with the light on them,
Gives even its thorns their share.

Allure of Pink Roses
As I have stated before, I love roses. I have them in my garden, red ones, orange one, peach ones, white ones, cream ones and yellow ones. I have even seen some purples/lavender ones in our neighbourhood.
What I do not have is a pink one. I don’t really know why!
While taking a walk with Peter and our cute pooch, Diesel, we saw in a front garden near our house a rose-bush which was blooming profusely. Some of the branches and flowers were overhanging from their fence into the street. If it was only a branch, it would have been a nuisance to passersby. But the beautifully scented flowers were too delicately appealing. They sure gladden the heart and the olfactory sense.
The pink flowers were actually welcoming with their delicate scent gently brushing into you as you pass by. They bring a smile to ones face. 🙂 The pink rose colour is like a blush on a fair maiden’s face :).
It reminds me a quote I once read:
Blushing is the colour of virtue.
Matthew Henry (18 October 1662 – 22 June 1714)
The colour shades of a rose have many meanings. Pink roses are popular at weddings. It symbolises gratitude.
The rose flower belongs to the genus rosa within the Rosacea family. It is a woody perennial which has been growing and blooming on the face of our planet earth for over 30 million years and there are over 100 species.
Roses are the rulers of romance for the flower world.
Anyway, I couldn’t go by without taking a stem of the flowers, which Peter had beautifully photographed for me, as always.
