Cast

Precis:

The 98th generation of the Mo Family needs the help of her fated to find the 4 magical jade.

Episode 1 & 2

The Emperor sent Gonyang to investigate Nanfeng Chen.  They were having a lunch conference when a cat fell from the sky and landed on Nanfeng’s head.

Episode 3

Xiao Qi went to meet Nanfeng but she got run over by a carriage because she got destructed when she saw Chu Chu.

Nanfeng saw what had happened and run to help her but when he got there, Xiao Qi was gone but there was the cute cat again, which was badly limping.

Nanfeng knew something was mysterious and took the cat with him home.

He told Jin Bao, his assistant to look after the cat.

Jin Bao found the cat cute and he thought that he should get the cat a mate as it looks to be on heat.

When he got back with a tomcat, Xiaoqi, the cat ran off and jumped onto the carriage heading to Bei Gongyan Manor.

Episode 4

I have to go back to the first three episodes to review.  I got caught up with watching one episode after another because this drama is so cute, comedic and very entertaining.

The double entendre was comical and innocent at the same time.

Anyway, Xiao Qi had turned into a cat and went to see Gongyan, who was with Chu Chu.

Xiaoqi, the cat, was upset but Gongyan seemed really like the cat.

He picked the cat up but it scratched him.

Chu Chu then took the cat and threw it out of the door.

Xiaoqi returned as a human and noticed the bloody scratched on Gongyan’s hand. She realised that she seemed to need his blood so she can turn into a human from a feline.

Chu Chu fainted when she saw that Xiaoqi was alive.

Seeing that Chu Chu had fainted into his bed and Xiaoqi was giving him dagger looks, he called Bai Tie to return Chu Chu back to her room.

Xiaoqi was upset with him.  Xiaoqi left him and confined herself in her room.

Gongyan went to see Xiaoqi with Bai Tie and Hei LI. These three as so cute.  They are so funny. Gongyan asked Bai Tai to call out to Xiaoqi but Bai Tie told Hei Li to do it instead.  They were arguing and kicking each other until Chu Chu turned up with a dish of toffee apples which she said see would give to Xiaoqi as an apology.

Chu Chu was touching Gongyan on the chest when Xiaoqi opened the door.

Gongyan was scared that Xiaoqi will get more upset so he said immediately that he had got a magic jade which he will give her.

He told Bai Tie and Hei Li to go fetch the jade on the left-hand side, which was the fake one.

Bai Tie and Hei Li though started looking at the fake and the real ones and passed them to one another until they can’t tell which one was which.

They gave the jades to Gongyan, who gave one to Xiaoqi.

She put the jade back into the pouch which the genie said would make the jade glistened.  She noticed immediately that there was not glistening nor brightening that was happening.

The Genie then appeared telling her that she needed the help of her fated to make the jade shine brightly.  The genie vanished.

Xiaoqi found Gongyan and told him that as her fated he has to help her.  So in the middle of the day, they tried different kama sutra positions while holding on to the pouch and jade together.

Chu Chu, who sent a spy to watch over Xiaoqi and Gongyan was incandescent with rage for the two shameless behaviour during the day.

Though Xiaoqi said her preferred position was the man on top,LOL, the jade did not shine.

Gongyan secretly replaced the jade from the pouch.

Xiaoqi, however, suddenly realised that perhaps Gongyan was not her fated.

It might be Nanfeng, after all she fell down on his head when she first appeared as a cat.

Xiaoqi decided to go see Nanfeng, who was already in Gongyan’s manor as he had been stalking Xiaoqi.

Xiaoqi went with him in his manor.  He was surprised that she had the very valuable Gongyan magical jade with her.

They started doing different position when Gongyan appeared and tried to take her away.  They were both holding into the pouch when it started glistening.

Episode 5

It looked like Gongyan was Xiaoqi’s fated.  Gongyan arranged for them to have their engagement.  Unfortunately, the day was on the same day was the trade agreement meeting with Lady Tang.

Gongyan was not particularly bothered as he was pretty sure that he can make it both.

He was on his way to Xiaoqi when he was approached by one of his servants advising him that the gift for Lady Tang was missing.

He told Bai Tai that he will be a bit late but the engagement will still to go ahead but he will definitely turn up.

Chu Chu heard about Gongyan leaving the manor so she took advantage of the situation and told Xiaoqi that Gongyan left to escape the engagement he never wanted.

Xiaoqi confirmed that Gongyan did leave the manor with Bai Tai.

Bai Tai thinking that Xiaoqi relly know everything did not say about Gongyan coming back for the engagement.

Xiaoqi packed her back and decided to go to Mount East to become a nun.

On her way to Mount East, she met Nanfeng and Jin Bao.

Nanfeng was all concern for her and told her that he loved her and she should really be with him.

Right that moment Gonyang arrived with Bai Tai and Hei Li.

They cleared their misunderstanding after Xiaoqi did all the running.

Episode 6

Gonyang with Bai Tai took Xiaoqi to see the sunrise.

But on their way back, they were ambushed by assassins.  They put a good fight, but Xiaoqi got stabbed right to her chest tattoo.  They were almost annihilated but Nanfeng and Jin Bao turned up to help.

Gonyang told Nanfeng that he had to take Xiaoqi to safety.

He carried Xiaoqi but he collapsed as the internal disease he had for ages started to kick in.  Both him and Xiaoqi fell on the ground.

Xiaoqi started to disintegrate into thin air.

Gonyang whispered her name but she was gone, that was until a fat cat appeared.  Gonyang was concerned that the fat cat had swallowed Xiaoqi.

The fat cat, Xiaoqi, was trying to tell him what had happened but he can’t understand to she ran away into the room of Nanfeng.

He was trying to feed the cat newly friend fish but she was the most uninterested cat in fish.

Gonyang turned up at Nanfeng room and wanted to take the cat back because he finally realised that the cat was Xiaoqi.

Nanfeng would not give the cat at first because he reckoned that he was the rightful owner of the feline which originally fell on his head from the sky.

They were arguing about it but the cat had had enough and chose Gonyang, who immediately took her away.

Gonyang told the cat that he was willing to accept her in whatever form.

Xiaoqi scratched him on his hand and she turned into a human Xiaoqi one again.  She explained that his blood seemed to turn her back into the human form and that she was not a demon cat.  She was always been human is just that just before he appeared in their current space and time, she was bitten by her cat.

Anyway, Xiaoqi was starting to question herself if she had started to fall fo Gonyang as she tend to him while he was taken ill again by his cold extremities.

Episodes 7- 8

Dong Lina Villa had invited guests to view an extensive jade collection.

Nan Feng Chen invited Xiaoqi to go with him but she turned him down thinking that Gonyang was more than likely to be in the guests list as well and would surely take her with him.

But she guessed wrong.  Gonyang did not want her to go with him as he deemed it perilous for her to be going in such a place.

Xiaoqi was annoyed because no matter how much she convinced him, he would not change his mind.

She got so annoyed even more when Chu Chu showed her her own invitation card.

Xiaoqi decided to go with NanFeng after all, who was only too happy to be her date.

In the villa, things started to happen immediately.  Nanfeng Ji, Nanfeng Chen’s older brother ended up dead and then the only bridge that would make them get out of the villa had been mysteriously blown up.

Chu Chu said that there was a serial killer in the villa.

The people got frightened because it meant more people will die.  And they did not have to wait for long. Another one died from drinking his tea.

Each of the victims would receive a card before their death informing them of the time of their imminent demise.

The third person to get a card was Xiaoqi.

Xiaoqi was immediately protected by Gonyang, Bai Tie, Nan Feng and Jin Bao.

Lady Tang was a member of the Xi Yun tribe who was supposed to have been massacred by Gonyang people.  It turned out that Lady Tang was the elder sister of Chu Chu.

She introduced herself to Chu Chu and they had a sister reunion and then Chu Chu was promptly given a task to get Xiaoqi away from those guarding her.

Chu Chu was only too happy to comply.

She saw Xiaoqi and Bai Tie walking by the pond.

She threw her jade in the pond and asked Bai Tie to go dive for it.  She then pushed Xiaoqi into the pond.

Xiaoqi held on to Chu Chu so they fell together.

Suddenly both Gonyang and Nanfeng were jumping in to save Xiaoqi.  The mayor who’s familiar with the fond told the people in it to stand up because it was only 3-foot deep.  That was funny.

Anyway, after Nanfeng, Gonyang and Xiaoqi had dried themselves, they were called into the drawing room, a la Agatha Cristy’s Miss Marple to reveal who was the culprit.  At first they suspected Xiaoqi to be the killer because despite receiving a card, she did not die on the allotted time.

Xiaoqi delivered a very long and clear self-evidence that she could have not killed the first two because, she did not know them and she had no reason to kill them.  The people were impressed and then Xiaoqi said to leave the matter to her because she can solve the case in one hour.

I love this drama, is it a real gem.  So funny and lighthearted and does not take itself seriously.  I also love the little scenes at the end which was supposed to be the Behind The Scene.  They were stories in itself and you can see everyone enjoying themselves.

I highly recommend this drama.

Episode 9 – 12

Xiaoqi and Gonyang fell down in the secret ice-warehouse of the villa.

Gonyang hurt his heard falling down.  From his hidden memory, he started remembering what had happened five years ago.

Apparently Xiaoqi was a spy sent by Xi Yun Tribe.  But she fell for Gonyang at first sight and did everything to make him fall for her.

He treated her coldly but he did fall for her in his way but not enough that he would sacrifice his position because he agreed to an arranged marriage with Xi Ling of the Xi Yun Tribe.

Xiaoqi was gutted.

Xi Ling was quite pretty but rather cruel as well.  Seeing that Gonyang had feelings for Xiaoqi, she instigated that Xiaoqi was found out as a spy and given a punishment which was 100 strokes of cane/wood.

She told Gonyang that she never wants to see him again even in the next life.

In front of everyone, Xiaoqi was smacked.  She was beaten so hard, she started to spew blood.  She would have died if Nanfeng did not turn up to take her away.

Despite what had happened, Xiaoqi can’t help loving and wanting only the best for Gonyang and she thought it would be a happy marriage.

So she arranged to see Xi Ling who she warned that someone was going to kill her during the wedding.  An assassin will be sent to make she dies.  Xiaoqi then offered to be the assassin and minimise the would she will give Xi Ling, but she had to promise to be good to Gonyang and look after him.

So during the wedding ceremony assassin did come and then there was Xiaoqi who was heading toward Xi Ling who ‘welcome’ the stabbing.

Seeing that his bride had been wounded, Gonyang went to the rescue and stabbed the assassin which he quickly found out to be Xiaoqi.

He realised how much he loved her and was crying piteously over the dead body of Xiaoqi when the genie appeared and told him that they can restart everything without Xiaoqi.  Her existence will be erased from everyone’s mind.  And like a smoke, Xiaoqi disappeared from his arms.

Gonyang was not sure whether it was just a dream or a part of reality.

They were almost on death’s door when they were found by Nanfeng, Bai Tei, Jin Bao, and the mayor.

But Gonyang did find the second magical jade hidden in the frozen well.

They also found out who the serial killer was. It was someone from the Xi Yun tribe.

This present time, Gonyang was now working with a special mission from the emperor.

He had to try and curtail the growing power of Nanfeng Chen who had the jades.

He used Xiaoqi to get closed to Nanfeng to find all the four jades.

He also allowed Xiaoqi to stay into his manor when he found out that she had the Mo family tattoo.

Apparently, the magical jades will work in tandem with the death of Xiaoqi.

Xiaoqi overheard this and was upset that Gonyang had continued to lie to her after they promised to each other to be always be truthful to one another.

She told him that she wanted to break up.

Gonyang stopped himself from running after her because he thought it might be better if she goes rather than be a pawn to the emperor’s jade mission

 

 

Season 2

Episode 1 – 4

Xiaoqi was now working in a bar/restaurant in town so she could meet different people and travelling merchant to find out if they have any information about the other two jades.

She later learned the other jade was with Nanfeng family all along.

Nanfeng promised to look for the jade for her.

Meanwhile, Gonyang did everything to win Xiaoqi back.  He told her that she was the only one in his heart ever.   And the hairpin he bought five years ago had always been meant for her and not a part of Xi Ling’s bridal betrothal gifts.

Xioaqi finally believed him and forgave him.

Meanwhile, Chu Chu continued to be an annoying factor in their lives.

Lady Tang had tasked Chu Chu to infect Xiaoqi with a mind-control worm which will drive Xiaoqi insane.

The initial side effect of the worm infection was vomiting so after a consultation with a quack doctor, Gonyang was informed that Xiaoqi was expecting.

Both were very happy but as the days passed the pregnancy seems unusual.  Xiaoqi was forever sleeping, she was forgetful.

Heu LI who had come back said that Xiaoqi was not pregnant, she was infected by a mind control worm.

Episode 12

In order to save Gonyang, Xiaoqi had to sacrifice herself by going back home to the Cloud City.

The Genie then gave the capsule that would cure Gonyang of his chronic cold disease.  Gonyang at first refuse to take the capsule as he thought what was the point of living without Xiaoqi.

Nanfeng, however, was having none of it.  He told Gonyang that Xiaoqi’s sacrifice should not go in vain.  He forced Gonyang to take the capsule/huge pill.

Gonyang said that he was pretty sure that Xiaoqi will come back to him one day as they were fated.

Meanwhile Xiaoqi was back with her parents who told her that she was gone for a long time so they decided to conceive another baby.

What did not know was that Xiaoqi was pregnant as well.

Ten years later…

Xiaoqi was gorgeous with her modern hairstyle.  She seemed to have told her children stories about her time in the other world.  Her daughter cannot get enough stories about Uncle Nanfeng.  She had fallen in love with Uncle Nanfeng and was not interested to hear more about her father.  So funny.

Anyway, Xiaoqi always thinks of Gonyang despite the ten years that had passed.

She was crying so much while holding her jade hairpin.  Her tears fell on the hairpin.  The hairpin got so soaked in her tears while she cried all night until she fell asleep.

She woke up to find her children playing with the jade pieces.  Before they could tell them off, they were all sucked into a vortex of the other world.

Xiaoqi with her children were dressed in their historical garb.  Her daughter could not wait to find Uncle Nanfeng, who was still waiting for his great love and friend, Xiaoqi.  He knew immediately that the girl was Xiaoqis.

Meanwhile, the hairpin with a child drawing was sent to Gonyang.

He knew immediately that this can only have come from Xiaoqi.  He went to their meeting place but she was not there.  He crouched down sad and defeated until Xiaoqi spoke his name.

They were so loved up in an instant.

Xiaoqi then had to confess that they had two kids which she brought with her but they were currently missing.  LOL

However, knowing her daughter, she had a good idea where to find her.  She could only be with Nanfeng.

They found their son first but he told them that his sister would not leave Nanfeng alone and he had taken her home.

Gonyang was ready to go to Nanfeng’s manor but Xiaoqi said that Nanfeng would have not taken her in his manor.

She was right, Nanfeng with the daughter was waiting for them at Gonyang’s manor.  Nanfeng had missed Xiaoqi so much.

So it was a lovely reunion.

And I hope, there is a third series.
