Watched this film today on Netflix.  I have to admit, I really enjoyed it.  They got the pacing right and the swashbuckling feeling of piracy.🤣

The cast is marvelous.  There was so much chemistry between Han Hyo Joo and Kang Ha Nuel despite not having many lovey-dovey moments.

Anyway, the story was set during the last days of the Goryeo Dynasty.

Haerang is a pirate captain who rescued some bandits headed by Woo Moo Chi who likes telling everyone that he was the greatest swordsman of Goryeo.

They were on sea when they came across a Japanese ship.  They overpowered the Japanese and learned from them that they were in search of the vast treasure of the last General of Goryeo which vanished without a trace.   They got a map from the Japanese but it did not make a lot of sense.

The pirates and bandits disembark to look for meat as they were so sick of dried squid.

Moo Chi saw a cattle and told his men to get it.  It was too late for Hae Rang to warn them that it was not only one cow that was coming, a whole herd was stampeding.  And Moo Chi got caught in the stampede and he ended up being thrown into the ravine.  Luckily he fell into a branch and managed to get back up with a cattle horn he found by the side of the cliff.

Hae Rang realised that the horn was really a map.

This is the start of the adventure for the search for gold.  The amount of gold was believed to be so large that it was enough to start a new dynasty.

This film has a lot of funny moments.

BTW, they got the gold…
