Quick Precis

Jiao Jia Ren was saved by Gu Jia Ren when she was a child.  Since then, she had idolised him and followed in his footstep and become a pediatrician as well.

It did not go unnoticed that Jiao Jia Ren has a lot of potentials.  Gu Jia Ren ensured that she becomes a part of his prestigious children’s hospital.

Episode 1

Really interesting drama.

I am not sure about the lead female character yet.  She comes across as being overly helpful that she put herself in the wrong all the time.

She helped a child who fell from the fifth floor of a tenement building.  She took charge as there is no sign of the ambulance.

When she got to the hospital with the child and his mother, she was rather possessive of the child and won’t let go despite medical attention was now available.

The attending physician, Deng Zi Ang, was rather standoffish and told her to let go.  He reminded her that shouldn’t she be somewhere?

She remembered that she had to register and when she got there, there was a long line and she asked if she could queue-jump.

Nope, they told her to go at the end of the line and too right too.

Afterwards, she found Deng Zi Ang, who was supposed to be her teacher but he told her that he was not her teacher, no way.

She was still logging her suitcase around when she saw a nurse crying because she was expected to open more than 3000 vials and pour the content into a dish.  She said she can’t do it.

Again, she was so helpful, she helped the nurse until early hours in the morning.  She was so tired she missed the trainee bus.

And Deng Zi Ang was not impressed and I was not impressed with her as well.

Episode 2

Dumb and Dumber became flatmates.

Deng Zi Ang scolded Jiao Jia Ren for being so stupid as he looked into her bandaged fingers.  He reminded her that her hands and nimble fingers are the most important thing to a surgeon.

Her flatmate is the crying nurse who can’t IV as she was scared to insert needles.

Episode 3

Jiao Jia Ren thought she was a bright girl but she now feels stupid compared to Gu Jia Ren during the morning round.

Deng Zi Ang said that he could only have one intern under him so Jiao and Gu have to battle it out via a contest.

The contest was to examine a poo on a nappy while they were drinking soup.

Gu Jia Ren could not even finished her first tab of soup before her stomach started to heave.

Jiao Jia Ren fared better. She was almost finished with her second tab when she threw up on Deng Zi Ang.

Episode 4

Gu Jia Ren won the second & third round of the contest.

Episode 5

Fang Man was upset with Jiao Jia Ren thinking that she was related to their Director who recruited her.

Jiao Jia Ren immediately told her that he was just a patron and no relation at all.

Gu  Jia Ren is now the intern of Deng Zi Ang while Jiao Jia Ren is shadowing Xu Bing Zhe.

Episode 6

Gu Jia Ren continuously tops Jiao Jia Ren including when they had to volunteer in a kindergarten.

Though Jiao Jia Ren was sympathetic with the children, she lacked empathy dealing with the parents.  She upset one of the parents and the kindergarten owner sacked her on the spot.

Episode 7

Despite not mentoring Jiao Jia Ren, Deng Zi Ang seemed to be on her case all the time, including asking the kindergarten owner to give Jiao Jia Ren another chance.

Deng Zi Ang has a rule of only dating stupid women.  His latest bimbo wanted to get back with him but he seemed to have changed his taste a bit because he tried to dissuade her from getting back with him.

Episode 8-9

Jiao Jia Ren got so close to her first patient that everyone noticed her extra attention to the boy.  Everyone told her that pull back a bit.

The Director warned her, her mentor Dr Xu warned her and even Deng Zi Ang warned her.

But she thinks she knew best.  In fact, she told Deng Zi Ang that they have lost their sense of empathy with their patients.

But they were right because I thought she was going over the top in protecting the boy.  The boy was more mature than her because he actually told her that his mother will blow her top when Jiao Jia Ren dismissed the tutor the boy’s mother had engaged for him.

Instead, Jiao Jia Ren encouraged the boy to cultivate his passion for drawing which she knew the boy’s mother forbids.

Then finally the mother had had enough and made such a scene, the director got involved and apologise to the mother.

Now Jiao Jia Ren was forbidden to see the boy. Her reputation took a dent which resulted in her being taken off the candidates to participate in the liver transplant.  Then parents of children who heard about her had lost their trust in her.

Episode 10

Gu Jia Ren had asked Dr Xu to consider her to assist him with the liver transplantation.

Director Gu, however, reminded Dr Xu that Jiao Jia Ren should be considered as she had reserved on the liver transplant.  He also said to overlook Gu Jia Ren as she will get other opportunities one day.

Dr Xu’s wife is very ambitious.  She was absolutely going mental when she found out that her husband intends to ask Jiao Jia Ren to assist him.  She told him that he did not progress much in the last 15 years because he did not push himself enough.

Meanwhile, Dr Deng Zin Ang continues to suffer humiliation in the hand of his nervy/mentally ill ex-girlfriend. He told her that they were really over and they must part ways.

The girlfriend was so upset, she just sat in the hospital garden in the pouring rain, until busybody Jiao Jia Ren came out with an umbrella.

Episode 11

Wang Hang found out that Fang Man comes from a rich family so he rethought about courting her.

Fang Man was upset when she heard that wang Haqng went on a blind date together with the newly single Deng Zing Ang.

Fang Man was very upset and asked Jian Jia Ren who she likes in the hospital.  Fang Man teased her about Deng Zhin Ang but Jiao Jia Ren said that he is not her tob.  She would rather go fo the type like Lei Hao.

Episode 12

Lei Hao spoke to Jiao Jia Ren to ‘clarify the situation’ that he cannot like her.  He advised her to be sad for a while but she needs to get over him.

Jian is Ren was absolutely gobsmacked as she does not understand how he came to the conclusion that she liked him.

The day of the liver transplant came.

The same day as Dr Xu’s eldest daughter ended up in the hospital with suspected meningitis.  Mrs Xu was going hysterical especially when Dr Xu showed up who she thought was an irresponsible father.  She pushed him away and he fell against a wall.

He then fainted and therefore can’t perform the liver transplant.

It was left to Deng Zhi Ang to step in.

Meanwhile, Jiao Jia Ren assisted but was dismissed by Deng Zhi because she was so nervy.

Jiao Jia Ren did not take this lightly or kindly.  She stayed, looking recalcitrant until Deng Zhi had to forcefully tells her to get out.

She got out mutinously and was so annoyed with him.

Episode 13

She was really annoyed and tried to stay out of his way.

Finally, they had a showdown and told her the truth that she was so nervous for such a big operation.

She told him that she has seven years of surgical experience and told him that she could have done it.  And she will show him that she could be better than him who is a scumbag. She then left in a huff.

She was not finished.  She waited for him later as he did his habitual jogging.  She did say that he was right but still she will do better.

She should improve her attitude, she is too sulky.

Wang Hang went on another blind date which Fang Man sabotaged.

He later confessed that he liked her but he was out of her league, she is too good.

Episode 14

Speaking of confession, Gu Jia Ren confessed to Deng Zhi.

Deng Zhi told her that he loves her too, just like how he loves Director Gu; just like how he loves her mother because they are family.  She is like a sister to him and that is enough.

They admitted a child suffering from asbestos poisoning who has an early stage of lung cancer,

Episode 15

Dr Xu caved in to his wife’s demand and resigned from Tong Xin hospital to work at a private hospital for more salary.

This meant Gu Jia Ren is without a mentor.

Episode 16

They were missing Dr Xu but love must go on.

Jiao Jia Ren has been assigned to be mentored by Deng Ziang.

Jaio Jia Ren works very hard and had mastered the art of stiching.

She performed her first circumcision.

Episode 17 & 18

There was a major explosion in a gas station near a nursery so it was a race against time to save the children.

Poor Fei Fei from the nursery where Jiao Jia Ren volunteers was a casualty.

Fei Fei’s death traumatised Jiao Jia Ren so much, she became useless and Deng Ziang had to order that she be ushered out.

Episode 19

In order for Jiao Jia Ren to become a full time apprentice of Deng Ziang, she had to pass a basic test which is stitching a tangerine skin, not a person with overly suntanned skin but actually a fruit.

Gu Jiao Ren wanted to join the challenge and they both found it impossible.  The other doctors watching also had a go.

Deng Ziang showed them how it was done and they all concurred that he was the hand of god.

In the end, Dean Gu showed how it is done and gave them tips as well.

Episode 20

Jiao Jia Ren is officially a mentee of DengZiang.

Deng Ziang and Dean Gu were talking about Jiao Jia Ren which was overheard by Gu Jia Ren.

Gu Jia Ren misinterpreted it as more scandalous that it was.  She thought that her father was also the father of Jiao Jia Ren.  That is why Gu Jia Ren shares the same name as Jiao Jia Ren.

She also remembers all the times that her father was especially kind and considerate to Jiao Jia Ren.

Episode 29

Jiao Jia Ren was rescued by Deng Ziang from Dan Dan’s rabid fans.

He brought Jiao Jia Ren to his house as the front of her flat was inundated by angry fans.

The hospital staff was worried about her including Gu Jia Ren who went looking for her or Deng Ziang.

Episode 30

Poor Gu Jia Ren found them in Deng Ziang flat with Jiao Jia Ren wearing Deng Ziang’s shirt.

Gu Jia Ren went ballistic and accused Jiao Jia Ren of seducing the man she liked.

Jian Jia Ren said that Gu Jia Ren misunderstood the situation.

Gu Jia Ren challenged Jiao Jia Ren by asking her that a romantic feeling with Deng Ziang had never come across her mind.

Deng Ziang was also interested to hear what she was going to say.

She did not say anything to deny her feelings so Gu Jia Ren said that she does like Deng Ziang.

Gu Jia Ren left heartbroken.

Meanwhile, Deng Ziang had up the ante in pursuing her.  So cute but sedate.

The mysterious disease in this episode is about intestinal flora.  Instead of a bowel transplant, they need to transplant faeces to the child so create a bacteria to fight off the bacteria that was attacking the bowel.

Episode 31

It was Gu Jia Ren’s birthday.  Her number one admirer, Nurse Lei Hao organised a surprise birthday celebration for her.  To make sure that she turned up at the meeting room, Lei Hao enlisted the help of Deng Ziang while they hid under the table with the sparklers and cakes.

Did did not expect for Gu Jia Ren to confess to Deng Ziang once again.  He was so uncomfortable as much as the hiding guests.

Gu Jia Ren tried to hug Deng Ziang telling him that despite turning her down, she won’t give up easily.  Suddenly the light went on and the sparklers.

Lei Hao acted as if nothing happened and started singing Happy Birthday, which only increased Gu Jia Ren’s embarrasment.

She left the room and so did the guest one by one but not Jiao Jia Ren as Deng Ziang stopped her from leaving the room.

They seemed to be officially dating as he walked her home.  They were going round and round as they don’t want to get separated yet.

But the security guard told them that they had been going to and fro at least seven times already.  So cute.

Episode 32

Deng Ziang was a very thoughtful boyfriend, too thoughtful because Jiao Jia Ren was still sleeping when he turned up with a KFC.  He gave her two minutes to get ready and meet him downstairs.

Dan Dan is back with a stomach ulcer which became complicated because of her lifestyle.

Dan Dan and Jiao Jia Ren.  They had a talk about young Dan Dan’s lifestyle since she became to busy being the Modern Girl, she had not time to eat and rest.

Episode 33

Gu Jia Ren was unjustly humiliated by the family of a young patient.  She was accused of taking a red envelope, meaning money.

But what was inside the envelope was a drawing of a grateful child.

After her embarrassment and hurt of the relationship between Deng Ziang and Jiao Jia Ren, she had had enough and tendered her resignation.

Episode 34

After seven days, Gu Jia Ren returned to the hospital and she was more than welcomed.

Episode 35

OMG!  This episode is a revelation.  Xiaoshi, the boy who loved to paint and grown quite close to Jiao Jia Ren got run over.

He sort of knew he was going to die beforehand because that way his wife was going, death would be a release from the pain of being bullied by your own mother.

All he wanted was to paint and have a carefree childhood like most children.

It is so sad, I cried my heart’s out.

Episode 36

Jiao Jia Ren was grieving so much, she was overworking which was making the nurses rather upset as she was doing their jobs as well.

Fang Man’s father was conned by the get rich business he engaged into. He lost of money and the monies of his friends and relatives who invested with him as well.

The relatives are getting irate and went to Fang Man demanding their money back as they cannot find her father.

Wang Fang said he will find the money to pay them.  That morning, he had just put a deposit to a flat.

He cancelled it and lost the 50K deposit and gave the rest of his savings to Fang Man.

Her father is in the hospital after they saved him from trying to commit suicide.

Jiao Jia Ran slowly come to terms with the death of the sad Xiaoxi.  She was nurtured by Deng Liang.

Episode 37

Wang Han and Fang Man got married.

Episode 38

An old love of Deng Ziang came to him for help regarding her very sick son.  Apparently, she had been to numerous hospitals but they are not willing to admit him as his tumour in inoperable.

Deng Ziang told her that he will see what he can do.

Episode 39

I have to say that the best actors in this drama are the children.  That child who wanted to paint was brilliant and then little Tingting who was abandoned by her parents because she had leukemia and was in and out of the hospital.

Little Tingting loves mermaids and the hospital indulged her passion as they sort of adopted her.

Tingting continued to pine for her parents but in the end even in such a young age realised that they were never going to come back for her.

Thank goodness for Wang Hang who loved her the most.  She asked him if he could be her father.

Wang Hang was overwhelmed with emotion and agreed to be Tingting’s father.

He was there when she finally took her last breath.

Gu Jiao Ren asked Jiao Jia Ren if she was uncomfortable with the ex of Deng Ziang being in touch again. Gu Jia Ren said that the woman cheated on Ziang ten years ago and it was a messy break up.

I hope it does not get very messy this time round because Deng Ziang operated on the boy successfully but his little heart just gave in the  end.

The woman fainted when she realised that her beloved son had died.

Two medical interns looking after her did not realise that she can hear their gossiping that Deng Ziang did everything he could but everybody can make mistakes.

Episode 40

Deng Ziang found his ex drunk and suicidal and imploring him to return Liu Yumu back to him.  She was threatening to kill herself with a shard from a broken beer bottle.

When he tried to stop her, she accidentally scratched his hand.

I think this episode is on the ridiculous side.

Because Liu Yumu, the son of his ex died on his operating table suddenly he descends into a full-blown depression.  Surely for perhaps 10 years of being a doctor, he had learned that he is no god.  He cannot save everyone no matter how good a surgeon he was.

Plus the fact that he saw death almost every day.

So how can he be traumatised?!!!  I supposed for dramatic effect!

I told you the children are the better actors!  LOL

Xu Bingzhe’s daughter was admitted to Tang Xin hospital.  The case was pretty serious.

Jiao Jia Ren kidnapped Ziang to take him to the orphanage.  Good move, not.

Episode 41

Ziang was really gutted, so much so that it has a psychological impact on his ability to be dexterous with his hand that has been scarred.

But when helping to guide provincial surgeons with limited equipment, he found his mojo back.

Fang Man is pregnant.

Episode 42

The boisterous family of Hao Lei came to Tang Xin with an ill child of the family.

Gu Jia Ren’s protective instinct towards her devoted Hao Lei came to the fore when she saw how his family dismissed him because he was only a lowly nurse.

Hao Lei proposed to Gu Jia Ren to be his girlfriend and she accepted but you sort of can read in her face that he is not really good enough for her.  It is like a princess marrying a frog who has yet to turn into a prince.  But he is very kind though so he might be someone she needs.

Gorgeous Dr Deng is back with Jiao Jia Ren and everyone welcome their return.

Deng Ziang, Wang Hang, Gu Jia Ren and Jiao Ji Ren went to Japan under the International medical cooperation for a high-level surgery.

Wnag Hang was worried for Deng Ziang because of his hand despite Ziang telling him that he was ok and fully recovered.

The surgery is for a reverse living liver donor transplant.

Episode 43

The four Chinese doctors were there to observe.

Dr Inoue, the Japanese surgeon was wary of Dr Deng because of the scarring on the back of his hand; he assumed that Dr Deng is not fully recovered and might not be suitable to do a public surgery.

But Dr Deng more than vindicated himself by standing for Dr Inoue during his surgery as he froze.

Dr Inoue was mighty impressed with Dr Deng’s skill.

Episode 44

It is the public surgery which the Chinese doctors were doing.

It was a success.

BTW I want their universal translator earpiece.

There is no romantic ending.  It just talk about children grow up who will have their own children who will need a pediatrician.

And thank goodness there are so many competent ones around.
