Quick Precis

The story apparently is about an excellent Go player who meets an intern reporter.  They pooled their resources together to keep the traditional, ancient, game of chess called Go to live on.

Episode 1

Li Landi always delivers so any drama she is on will sure to be interesting and a good watch and this one is no exception.

Li Landi plays Cheng Liao who was a trainee reporter in P Video.

Miss Liu told her to cover the 6th Go National Tournament and get an interview with the elusive Sheng Jing Chu.

Cheng Liao tried to get out of it because she was not familiar nor interested in the game of Go.

Miss Liu told her that this was her last chance, if not for her sister, they would have let her go ages ago.

So Cheng Liao with her backpack full of the camera and other paraphernalia left the office and tried to catch the bus.

She was just in time to get into the bus helped by a handsome man.  Unfortunately, her ID pass got caught on the bus door and then flew away leaving only the lanyard around her neck.

She noticed the handsome man looking at her intently.  She got so uncomfortable at him staring at her that when suddenly there was a commotion from people who lost their mobile phones, she looked at the man.

The man found a couple of mobile phones in his coat pockets.

Suddenly, Cheng Liao became animated and said that the man was the thief.

They all ended at the police station. She told the police that the man was a thief and must be chastised and punished severely.

She then left.  Meanwhile the man said it was not him but he knew who was the thief.  He said that the thief was not poor but worked in the city.  He is a kleptomaniac.

The police were impressed and ended up apologising to him and bringing him to the studio where he was going to be playing Go.

The man is, of course, Sheng Jing Chu, the elusive top player of Go.

Cheng Liao found this out when she saw the lifesize poster of Sheng Jing Chu inside the studio

She knew she made a mistake as she was telling Cheng Yi, her sister who was a powerful woman in the studio because of her popularity as an interviewer.

When Sheng Jing Chu finally arrived at the studio, he immediately saw Cheng Liao.  He saw her wearing Cheng Yi’s ID so he thought she was Cheng Li.

The game of Go is like chess with a difference.  To make it more exciting, the drama was superimposed with a martial art fighting between the players of go.

Sheng Jing Chu won over Yao Ke despite carrying a penalty for being late for the game.  Sheng Jing Chu later agreed to an interview with Cheng Yi but when he got there he found out that Cheng Yi was not the troublesome girl on the bus so he declined to proceed with the interview and went to look for Cheng Liao.

He saw her interviewing Cao Xi He.

When she spotted him, she picked up her camera and ran away.  The confused Cao Xi He ran after her and so did Sheng Jing Chu.

In the end, Sheng Jing Chu was able to corner her.

She knew her time was up so she told him that he could slap her or beat her up.  She closed her eyes waiting for him to hit her but nothing happened instead she heard him say something familiar and his outstretched hand was a candy for her.

It seems they had a back story when they were young.

Episode 2

It is still a cute episode but more characters are being introduced including the second couple who is a tad annoying, thank goodness for the fast-forward button.

Anyway, Cheng Liao gained instant popularity in at Pinecone Video.  Even the termagant Miss Liu instructed to make her a permanent member of the team.

Her popularity was due to the fact that someone took a photo of her with Sheng Jing Chu.  It then got circulated that she was the mysterious girlfriend of the elusive Number One Go player.

She tried to deny it but once her father’s restaurant was shown as being followed by Sheng Jing Chu himself on Weibo, that rather sealed the gossip as being the truth.

Cheng Liao was upset because she did not Xi Chu, her crush, to think that she was no longer available.

Sheng Jing Chu appeared at her workplace which made the staff excited because he was very handsome.

Cheng Liao told him that she wanted to talk.

Episode 3

Cheng Liao told Sheng Jing Chu that she probably won’t be seeing him again.  She then left immediately.

Miss Liu has other ideas though.  She tasked Cheng Liao to cover the semi-finals for the 7th Go Tournament.  Cheng Liao was told to shoot the game.

So Cheng Liao was back to shadowing Sheng Jing Chu.

Sheng Jing Chu made Liu Wei arranged for Cheng Liao to be Sheng JIng Chu’s assistant so they could always be together.

Miss Liu sent her pack of paparazzi to cover the game but Sheng Jing Chu would only have anything to do with Cheng Liao.

Episode 4

Sheng Jing Chu was worried that Cheng Xiao was upset with hi because of the press conference where the press wanted to know his real relationship with Cheng Xiao.

He waited for her for ages at the back of the hotel and thereby, he caught a cold.

During his match with Cao Xi He the next day, Cao Xi He surrendered after hearing that the Master had won the game.

Cao Xi He does not want to play the game against the Master for the finals.

Sheng Jing Chu said that Cao Xi He had disrespected him.  He said that he could have defeated Cao Xi he fair and square.

Episode 5

Their Dojo Master was a no-show at the finals so Sheng Jing Chu won by default.

During the award-giving, he said that he will accept the award in respect of the game but he personally thinks that he did not win and his Master did not lose.

The Master explained later of his absence that he did not want to win because the worst thing is finding that there is no competent opponent after he wins.

Cheng Liao was teased mercilessly by her father and sister.  Telling her that she should date Sheng Jing Chu.

She told them that they were just friends.

It so happened that her long time crush, Xi Chu had returned from abroad and is now the new Assistant Director at Pinecone Video.

Cheng Liao was so happy but became miffed when they went back at her father’s restaurant and her sister almost monopolised Xi Chu.  They were all childhood friends.

Episode 6

Master Jiang had decided to close his dojo so he asked the Master a favour to keep Yao Ke.  Yao Ke was ambitious.  He made a vow to surpass Sheng Jing Chu one day.

Episode 7

Poor Sheng Jing Chu’s heart was breaking as Cheng Liao asked him to look for a present for Xi Chu for her confession

Sheng Jing Chu then realised from Xi Chu’s Weibo account that he lies Cheng Yi rather than Cheng Liao.  He rushed to the hotel to prevent Cheng Liao making a fool of herself.

He was just in time to prevent her from naming Xi Chu as the object of her affection.

Instead, Sheng Jing Chu went to the podium to accept Cheng Liao’s confession and took her outside.

She was so annoyed with him but he turned her to look at what was going on in the hotel and saw that Xi Chu was confessing to her sister.

Episode 8

Cheng Liao was so embarrassed to go to the office the next day and can’t face Xi Chu.  She was told the Xi Chu had taken the day off.  She then found out that her sister spurned Xi Chu’s confession.

Sheng Jing Chu came to meet her and cheered her up.

Cheng Liao realised that she was not upset because Xi Chu did not fancy her.  She must more upset of the years she was mooning about him.

Xi Chu asked to meet Cheng Yi.

Cheng Yi told that a relationship with him will never happen because it was just creepy.  They were like family a close cousin.

Xu Chi said he understand but he will give her time to get used to it

Cheng Yi was called by her manager to inform her that her television program will be cancelled because of a low rating.

Episode 9

Cheng Yi happened to meet Jiang Yu Da who is proud of his title as the best Go player in Europe.

He had just come back to China and went immediately Jiuzhou Dojo to challenge the players.

He was gutted to know that there are so many good Go players in China, better than him who was the best in Europe.

In the challenges, he issued to three players at the Jiuzhou, he was defeated in all games in the space of just 25 minutes altogether.

Meanwhile, Cheng Liao had finally come to terms with her feeling with Xu Chi.  She had said goodbye to him.

She had found an outlet of getting herself busy and that was to be with Sheng Jing Chu and help him build a greenhouse in his garden.

Miss Liu tasked Cheng Liao to get her a scoop on the players of Go.

Episode 10

Miss Liu was not happy with the wholesome documentary Cheng Liao presented her.  She wanted scoop, dirt.

Meanwhile, Sheng Jing Chu gifted her a Ferrari which he won as a prize.  As he can’t drive because of his colour blindness he wanted for Cheng Liao to have the car.

Cheng Liao, however, said she can’t take it

Ya Di and Xu Chi met and had become each other’s confidantes about their love life.  They had not realised that they were into the same girl, Cheng Yi.

Then a photo of Cheng Yi with Ya Di trended.

Episode 11

Cheng Yi got told off at work for her misdemeanor but then she told them that she was single and the man she was pictured with was also single.  Anyway, she was finally able to tell the management what pressure she was in which she had to keep to herself.

It was Cheng Liao’s birthday and no one remembered but she was given a karaoke party by Jiuzhou Dojo for her service rendered.  She let it slipped that she thought they knew…

Sheng Jing Chu caught her slight disappointment so he took her away from the party and took her in the busy street to sate herself with street food she particularly likes.

He then gave her a wooden fly/bug pendant which he carved himself and wished her a Happy Birthday

She was really touched.

He then said that he will help her get down from the school fence where somehow they ended at.

She jumped into his arms and trope would have it she ended up accidentally kissing him.

She was so embarrassed but he seemed to enjoy it

When she got home, she can’t help thinking that her first kiss in her 24 years was an accident. It was an exciting accident.

Meanwhile, it was just past midnight when her father and a rather drunk Cheng Yi surprised her with a birthday cake.

Her father became a bit maudlin because both his girls have grown up into marriageable age.  He said soon he would be left all alone.

Both girls assured him that he will be first in their hearts.

Episode 12

It was the Sinai Juzhou Cup for four-nation.

Yao Ke’s brother stole Sheng Jing Chu’s treasured Tao Ching book which he bound with a bracelet rosary.  This affected him so much he almost lost to the Japanese Go player, Mr Kiyomosa

Yao Ke was annoyed with his brother because he wanted to defeat Sheng Jing Chu fair and square.

Episode 13

Sheng Jing’s next opponent was the Korean legend, the handsome Yeon Han.  Sheng Jing chen lost the first round to Yeon Han but then he won the next round.

All the time Cheng Liao was besides herself with worryl

Episode 14

The final game between Yeon Han and Sheng Jing Chen was actually between Sheng Jing Chen and himself.  He has to be able to defeat himself to win over Yeon Han.

Though he defeated Yeon Han, they became friends.  Yeon Han even declared that Sheng Jing Chen is his international best friend.

Their friendship did not last because Yeon Han used flowers Sheng Jing Chen’s precious greenhouse that he tend with Cheng Liao to garnish the bibimbap he made.

The next one to bother poor Sheng Jing Chen was Mr Kiyomosa who came already drunk but demanded more beer.

Sheng Jing Chen asked Cheng Lao to help deal with Mr Kiyomosa who blamed Sheng Jing Chen for defeating him and lost his chance to propose to his girlfriend.

Team Jiuzhou Dojo, as well as Yeon Han, pooled their ideas together to come up with a romantic proposal for Mr Kiyomosa and his pretty girlfriend.

It was a beautiful thing when it happened, everyone was happy which inspired Sheng Jing Chen to confess to Cheng Liao.

Episode 15

Awww poor Sheng Jing Chen was rejected by Cheng Liao. Not completely but at that time as good at.

Cheng Liao was rather regretting turning Sheng Jing Chen especially when her sister told her that he was a good catch and really into her.

Episode 16

Cheng Liao noticed that Sheng Jing Chen was looking upset so she told him that she did not turn him down completely but wanted more time to really see how she feels about him.

Sheng Jing Cheng told her that she has all the time in the world.  He will wait for her so she can take her time.

She wanted to but she did not realised that it would be the Chinese valentine’s day where everyone started pairing up.

Her sister went on a dinner date with Xi Chu.  I hope they ended up together because is just the most annoying person ever. Hopeless and a loser, for now at least.

Sheng Jing Cheng and Cheng Liao ended up going out as well and had a cute romantic and flirtatious evening.

They do have a lovely chemistry. Believable that they should be together.

On the other hand, it was rather weird that her sister seemed to prefer the no-hoper Yuda over Xi Chu.

Episode 17

Father Cheng was worried that Cheng Liao was now dating Sheng Jing Chen.  He would not listened that Cheng Liao was still considering it.

Sheng Jing Chen accepted and invitation to give a talk about Go to a school for orphan children.

He went with Cheng Liao but it was unfortunate that they had to pass the road where he had an accident that killed his parents.

Poor Sheng Jing Chen had a meltdown which was witnessed by Father Cheng who had followed Cheng Liao to the school.

As soon as she got home after tending to the panic stricken Sheng Jing Chen, her father confronted her and commanded her to break up immediately with the disrespectful Sheng Jing Chen.

Cheng Liao told her father that she would not leave Sheng Jing Chen.  So father and daughter were currently at war.

Episode 18

Cheng Yi refused the job offer from Pinecone Vidoe telling Xi Chu that Benhai Studio had given her a good offer to stay.

But she was lying.  She resigned because she realised that there is no more scope for her to progress.

Now she had time to romance the barely employed Yuda.

Cheng Liao went to Binhai Orphanage for damage limitation control and invited Tian Tian, the boy Sheng Jing Chen inadvertently insulted to spend the day at his house.

Afterwards, Sheng Jing Chen went to see Father Cheng and explained to him everything that happened.

Father Cheng was very moved with what he learned and more so when they both realised that the girl in the family photo Father Cheng showed Sheng Jing Chen was the same cute girl who gave a candy to the bereaved six years old Sheng Jing Chen in the hospital were he stayed when hs parents both died.

This seen was really moving, it made me cry.

Anyway, Father Cheng told Sheng JIng Chen that his daughter is really lucky to have him.

And she had him as she finally agreed to be with Sheng Jing Chen. Awww

Episode 19

To make Cheng Yi stay and not leave for Shanghai, Xu Chi told her that she was right.  They could never be anything else because they don’t have that spark.

Cheng Yi started working at Pinecone Studio and Yu Da went mental.  I don’t really see the point of him.

He is too zany and hopeless.  Zhu Jia Xi is a remarkable actor but this role is a waste of time and space and only good for fast forwarding.

Sheng Jing Chen officially introduced Cheng Liao to the dojo as his girlfriend.

Cheng Yi’s first television interview under Pinecone Video was with Yao Ke who issued a 10-game challenge to Sheng Jing Chen.

Episode 20 

Sheng Jing Chen was not interested in playing against Yao Ke because he wanted to go on a ten-day holiday in the Maldives with Cheng Liao.

Cheng Liao said that the challenge was trending so he had to play otherwise people would think that he was scared to lose against Yao Ke.

He asked her if she wanted him to play and she said yes.

Episode 21

Yao Ke was leading at the start of the game.

Cheng Liao got so stressed, she can’t bear to watch anymore and went out crying.

Later on Sheng Jing Chen found her at his place with swollen red eyes from crying.

He told her that he won and everything is better in their world once again.

It was so good Sheng Jin Chen told her that he wanted to take her out for  the weekend.

Cheng Liao did not know how to tell her father but she was surprised when her father was very encouraging.  He said to go under one condition, she and Sheng Jing Chen must have separate rooms.

Her look confirmed to her father that she did not even about sharing a room with Sheng Jing Chen.

Meanwhile, Yu Da asked Father Cheng to court Cheng Yi.

Father Cheng was very liberal, he said that Cheng Yi would decide for herself.

It looks like she likes YuDa.  Silly woman!

Episode 22 – 23

Cheng Liao and Sheng Jin Chen are totally loved up.  This has a great effect on Sheng JIn Chen who can now see colours on things that Cheng Liao was holding like the Rubik Cube which reminded him once again of the time he had an accident with his parents.

Anyway, he begged Cheng Liao never to leave her, which she easily promised that she won’t.

Meanwhile, Cheng Yi is confused with her feelings, she was beginning to like Xu Chi romantically but she kept thinking of YuDa.

It turned out that YuDa is actually a pampered son from a rich family.  His father asked him to go back but he said that he can’t as he can’t leave his goddess.  His father was impressed that he was able to live without money from them so reinstated his credit card.

Sheng Jin and Yao Ke continued with their 10-games.  Sheng Jin Chen won the second and third game which made Yao Ke obsessed more about Go.

Now it is their fourth game but Sheng Jin was not particularly feeling great as he had a touch of allergy from the new bed he and Cheng Liao had just bought.
