Episode 1
The drama started at present time with Dan Hwal narrating. He said that 600 years ago, monsters and humans are co-existing but then monsters had a taste for cannibalism and they were eating humans.
At present time, monsters have been eradicated except for one, and that was him, Dan Hwal.
His life started six hundred years during the start of the Joseon period.
A group of nomads was trudging on a snowy mountain when a pregnant woman saw a monster eating a dead human.
Instead of running away, the pregnant woman went to the monster and offered her unborn baby because she believed that it had been cursed by Bulgasal.
The shocked husband of the woman grabbed her back. But when he woke up the next morning, he found his wife had hung herself. I am not really sure how she have gotten on a top branch of a tree when she was so heavily pregnant.
Anyway, the shocked husband saw the corpsed of his wife giving birth to the child.
Immediately, the child was deemed cursed because he came out from a dead mother.
Ten years on, the child’s father left the boy to a neighbour. The boy is shunned by the villager, he would be found alone in the mountain foraging for food.
Everything that goes wrong in the village would be blamed on the boy for being a jinx.
One day a whole family was murdered and immediately the whole village went hunting for the boy to kill. They rounded him up on a pond that had iced over.
Then the ice cracked and the boy fell into the deep freezing water. Somehow he got saved.
There was the mysterious woman in red who seemed to be watching over him and when he was on the point of being killed she would save him while she gets killed herself.
The child was about to be killed by the villagers who are being incited by a shaman who said that the boy is cursed by the Bulgasal.
The only way was to kill the boy to prevent the Bulgasal from appearing in the village.
The villagers were interrupted by the arrival of Dan Geuk, an army general.
He told the villagers that murder is punishable.
He then asked the boy his name, The boy said he doesn’t know, he had been the boy with no name.
Dan Geuk named him Hwal and took him with him.
The shaman warned the general that he was taking on a curse.
The General said there is no such thing as Bulgasal.
More years passed and Hwal had become the right hand man of the General. They were monster killing.
Monsters’ population had dwindled until a few are left but the curse remains something to be fearful of.
One who still believes that Hwal was cursed was his own wife, Dan Sol, the daughter of Dan Geuk.
Their baby had died and Dan Sol believe that it was due to the curse and blamed her husband and father for making her marry Hwal.
Hwal and Dan Sol had another child who was blind with permanently bleeding eyes.
Somehow Hwal was holding himself back from his son.
Dan Sol was going mental and tried to kill Hwai. She asked him why he married her since she knew he does not love her.
Hwal said that because Dan Sol was just like him, a monster.
Dan Sol quietened up and had an epiphany of Hwai’s past. She saw the woman in red.
Hwai told her that he will look for the woman.
While he was away, their camp was attacked by the woman in red. When Hwai got back he found a river of blood and his wife and son were gone.
He went looking for them and heard his son crying out for him. But it was too late when he got there.
His son died in his arms while his wife died nearby.
Episode 2
Dan Hwai almost found the woman who stole his spirit.
She was reincarnated as Sang Wool, an identical twin sister to Sang Un.
Sang Wool was killed but Dan Hwai was not aware of it so he continued to look for her.
Episode 3
Dan Hwai had engaged many private investigators to look for Sang Wool, the modern woman who kill him in his previous life.
Poor Dan Hwai got stabbed so many times but of course, he is an immortal.
He finally found who he thought was the Bulgasal. Somehow he can’t kill her despite holding a knife that could end Sang Un’s life.
But then Dansol turned up who is a sister to Sang Un in this lifetime.
Episode 4
Dark Hole appeared in this episode and turned out that he was another Bulgasal.
It was Dark Hole (Lee Joon) who killed Sang Wool and their Auntie.
Dark Hole is stronger than Dan Hwai because Dark Hole drinks and feeds on human and blood.
Dan Hwai had always made good of his promise to his adopted father, General Dan Geuk.
Dan Geuk had also reincarnated in this lifetime as a private investigator and he was after Dan Hai thinking that he was the killer of Sang Un’s family.
Really watchable drama. It is fast-paced and has lots of twists and turns and shedding of blood and stabbing but no one gets killed in this episode.

Dan Hwai was almost killed by Kim Sang Hui, Eul Tae’s assistant.
Dan Hai was trying to save Dan Geuk from being killed by Kim Sang Hui who rebelled against Eul Tae, who told her not to touch Dan Geuk.
But Kim Sang Hui had a deep hatred of Dan Hai who killed her in a previous life. So she tried to hang Dan Geuk but Dan Hai still did everything he could to help Dan Geuk almost out of it as she had injected him with relaxant. Thank goodness, Eul Tae returned and killed his own assistant.
Episode 9
It turned out that Eul Te was the second son of Dan Geuk, 1000 years ago.
Dan Geuk had an older son who Eul Tae killed and then blamed the Bulgasal for the murder.
It turned out that Do Yoon was A Chan is Dan Hwai’s blind son in the previous life
Dan Hwai is feeling guilty because once again he abandoned his son who was begging him to allow him to stay with him as he doesn’t have anywhere else to go.
Episode 15
Hwai was encouraged by Dan Geuk to drink his blood so Hwai gets stronger and defeat Eul Tae.
Episode 16
Hwai stabbed Eul Tae to death, and then he killed himself.
Sang Wool died because her sister did not bother to call an ambulance. Do Yoon just walk off.
50 years later…
Sang Wool was reincarnated into an artist. She received a photo of a house which made her cry. She went to visit the house. It was strangely familiar to her. She was just leaving when she heard a man telling the realtor that he was prepared to buy the house.
The man was Hwai.
Hwai asked her if they had met before…
The crazy woman started tearing up again.
