Aristocrat Restaurant, Manila Philippines

On 23 December 2012, after a pleasant evening walk along Roxas Blvd, we went for a quick supper at the well-known Aristocrat Restaurant, one of Manila’s oldest restaurants (76 years old).

It was previously the haunt of politicians, the posh, rich and famous. Deals on laws, business were discussed and forged there, after all it was the Aristocrat.

When I was growing up,  we had this notion, which was well founded , that the people who dined at the Aristocrat were the monied ones.

Nowadays our impression was of a slightly upmarket KFC (albeit with more diverse meals) open to all.

Be that as it may, we enjoyed the experience despite the frenetic ambiance in the crowded restaurant.

We enjoyed their signature chicken barbecue, clam chowder, crab, pancit, Lumpiang sariwa and drinks of sago at gulaman.

The service was prompt though lacking that personal touch you would expect from a really exclusive restaurant.
