Beef Tapa (Filipino Version)

Beef Tapa (Filipino Version)

I thought it was rather complicated to make homemade beef tapa.  But I found a recipe that is so simple that it can be done so easily and still yield maximum taste.

For us Filipinos, beef tapa is a very welcome dish for breakfast eaten with fried rice, fried egg and fresh chopped tomatoes.  Yummy.

Below is the recipe of this Asian inspired Hispanic dish.  Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 2½ lbs. thinly sliced beef
  • 1 head garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp. peppercorn, crushed
  • 1 tbsp. patis (fish sauce)
  • oil, for frying

Method of Preparation:

  • In a bowl, combine all ingredients except oil.
  • Marinate beef for at least 3 hours but preferably overnight.
  • For a more authentic tapa, dry under direct sunlight. (optional)
  • Fry in a small amount of oil.
  • Serve with salad or boiled rice or fried rice.
