An asteroid bigger that an aircraft carrier is to pass between the Earth and the moon. NASA advised that there is a 100 per cent chance that the asteroid will miss the Earth by about 202,000 miles while the moon at about 150,000 miles. The closest trajectory towards Earth is estimated to occur at 6:28pm EST (Eastern Standard Time: USA & Canada) on 8th November 2011.
Scientists have been tracking this asteroid since 2005 and it has been given a name as 2005 YU55, this asteroid is a C-type which contains carbon based materials. It is just not a whirling rock.

Apparently this asteroid will pass us at around 23:29. It might be hard to see it as it is very dark, being made from rock and carbon. It would be charcoally looking!
