St Dismas
Remember the two thieves who were crucified at the same time as Lord Jesus Christ at Mount Calvary?!! The two thieves were not named in the accepted Gospels in the Bible but the Gospel of Nicodamus named them as Dismas and Gestat.
Dismas was the thief who repented his sins and believed while he was dieing on the cross.
Anyway Dismas was elevated to sainthood through the devotion of local churches by virtue that God Jesus promised him eternal life in paradise. However the Catholic Church did not officially canonised Dismas. But for all its worth St Dismas became the patron saint of funeral directors/undertakers as well as those condemned criminals and penitent thieves. His feast day is on 25 March.
