For decades Marvel Comics have fed the imagination of countless kids and adults with diet of super heroes with amazing powers and abilities.
These heroes have been transferred from illustrations in popular comics to TV and movies. Now for the first time a movie has been made featuring the individual heroes who came together as “The Avengers”.
Recent movies have been made of individual Marvel heroes. For this movie the actors in these movies also come together. Leading is Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man who dominates the movie.
The Avengers Assemble features the disparate individual heroes, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Hawkeye, and the only female The Black Widow bunch up.
The eminence gris behind this formation is Colonel Nick Fury of a world protecting secret agency called SHIELD. Fury’s agency lose an all powerful energy source called the Tesseract. This energy source has been stolen by hero Thor’s evil half brother Loki and fellow demi god, who uses it to open a portal and allow his co baddie aliens to invade the earth. Reluctantly our heroes are brought together by Fury to thwart Loki. The interplay between the characters is enjoyable to watch. The heroes fence with each other using their various egos with no small amount of sardonic humour mixed in.
Tom Hiddleston is superb as the arch villain Loki (British actors make the best movie and TV villains!).
Australian Mark Ruffalo plays the haunted Dr Bruce Banner trying to control the powerful creature within him from manifesting as the all powerful Hulk.
Chris Evans excellently reprises his role as super patriotic Captain America.
Scarlet Johansson is sexy and cool as the Black Widow.
Jeremy Renner plays Hawkeye whilst Chris Helmsworth once again dons his Thor costume.
Samuel L Jackson is good as Nick Fury.
The CGI is breathtaking supporting a strong plot and story.
The film can be seen in 3D too.
Overall I would rate this movie 8-9 stars out of 10.
I heard that Scarlett Johansson is being paid $13M to reprise her role as Black Widow.
I did love Scarlett in the film.
I enjoyed this film. I am not into the superheroes but somehow this film got to me. Thor is the best.
