It was derived from the Old English “Tiwesdæg” and literally means “Tiw’s Day”

Apparently Tiw is from a proto Germanic form of Tyr.
Who is Tyr?
Tyr is often associated with Mars, the god of war.
Therefore Tuesday is named after a very combatant god called Tiw or Tyr.
