Much of the anticipation for the Oscars sometimes goes beyond the eventual award winners, viewers are more interested in the clothes; agog to see who are wearing who? Valentino? Versace? Ralph Lauren? Lanvin? Chanel? Dior? Beckham? Leger? Who looks the best and who are the worst for wear. Who should have looked in the mirror before going out.
Some celebrities will get it so right and some will get it so wrong. I remember Gwyneth Paltrow winning her Oscars and she made the performance of the night really memorable and I am afraid not for good reason. In fact, there was a bit of a contest of how bad and ill-fitting her voluminous pink gown against her over the top acceptance speech, with her wailing and crying for receiving an award.
Cher was memorable wearing her barely there second-skin gown and headdress.
Julia Roberts was elegant in her vintage Valentino.
Halle Berry was sexy in her Ellie Saab gown.
Jennifer Lawrence was lovely in her Dior.
Let’s remind ourselves of what the best actress winners have worn over the years, from the inception of the Oscars.
