Meet Minerva, The Garden Goddess
Our Minerva has been a mainstay to our garden. She overseas everything day in, day out, rain or shine, spring, summer, autumn and winter. She is there on guard.
Minerva used to stand on her own pedestal until one day we noticed that she was more leaning than the Leaning Tower of Pisa. If she fell from her pedestal onto someone, it could be fatal to lones, limbs or even the tile flooring of the patio.
Peter and I were rather nervous to move her because we both know how heavy she is. When she first came to us, there were four of us and yet we could not lift her one bit. It was lucky that we had a HeMan Polish builder who was working at our house. With his bulging muscles he was able to move Minerva which made him rather breathless. He put her on an equally heavy concrete pedestal, where she stood for more than ten years.
With much heaving and puffing, Peter and I were able to transfer her to a waiting wheelbarrow, thank goodness. We then wheeled her to the bottom of the garden to be near the pond where she now stood without her leaning pedestal.
One day, we hope to reunite them as we are planning a massive transformation and renovation of the garden especially around the pond.
