Firstly one is baptised as a child and then after having grown into teens and understand more of the faith you follow, one is asked to attend some intensive lessons to learn and truly understand more of the religion, it is only then that you are invited to confirm your faith.
If you are to be married in Church, the priest usually asked if you have been baptised and confirmed. Otherwise, you are given an option to be baptised and confirmed at the same time, if you are non-practising Christian.
Being confirmed is a symbol of belonging. You belong to a faith, to a community, to a family and most of all to God.
Confirming One’s Faith
Today’s prayer is from a confirmation card given to Peter when he was confirmed at St Mary’s Church in Hendon on 30 November 1969. Quite a long time ago, really a long time ago. 😉 Just teasing my Peaches.
I was just about to jump into bed when this card fell out from a book by my bedside. Peter was pleasantly surprise but we both do not know how it got to my book. One of those strange things that you just have to accept as it can’t be explained easily.
Anyway, perhaps it is a sign and therefore it is GlobalGranary’s
