During the last month of the Legal Wife, a Filipino drama serial, I discovered the joy of watching teleserye or television drama series courtesy of FreePinoyTv.com. 😉 I have to admit that I was hooked on the Legal Wife that after it finished I felt a bit bereft so I started watching another drama of the same genre. ie feckless husband, etc.
This new drama is called Ang Dalawang Mrs Real, which in English is The Two Mrs Real.
It started slowly at first and rather mind-boggling to say the least, still is to a certain extent.
The story revolved around Millet and Anthony Real and later on Sheila Real.
Millet was a successful teacher and business woman; she owned a school. She came from money. She was 17 years older than her husband. She was already around 40 years old when she got together with Anthony, who was then 23?!!! Millet’ biological clock had well and truly run out of batteries and stopped ticking. Rather late to get pregnant and give Anthony his own flesh and blood son or daughter!
How they met?
Anthony witnessed Millet’s road accident. He stopped and helped and one thing led to another until it ended up them getting married. Despite the age gap, Anthony and Millet led a happy and contented life despite not having a natural child of their own. But this was easily remedied by adopting a baby boy whom they named Anthony Real IV.
They were happy together but like any other married couples, they had their shares of ups and downs, exacerbated by their in-laws. Millet’s father was rather authoritarian/dictatorial whilst Anthony’s mother has some confidence/self-worth issues. She thought that Millet’s parents look down on them. She often goes mental if she thought her children are being maligned or treated unfairly, especially by Millet’s father.
These were the things that were rather unbelievable at first because when the show started Millet and Anthony have been married for at least 10 years and they would have known how everyone ticks and yet they let their in-laws’ idiosyncratic behaviors affect their married life, surely after ten years Millet and Anthony are savvy enough to just ignore or confront these little things their own way.
Anthony, to start with was a decent guy. He would help anyone in need (just like he did Millet). One of these needy people was Sheila who was at that time in Manila.
One day Anthony came upon Sheila who was being accosted by a man, Anthony intervened. The fracas ended with Sheila suffering from epileptic seizure. She was taken to the hospital and that was that. They parted ways. Sheila went back to Cebu and Anthony continued to live a fairly contented life with Millet.
Millet’s father awarded the contract to to build a school in Cebu to Anthony’s company. Anthony is a Civil Engineer. So went Anthony and his brother to Cebu to make the building happen. Their company is one of the worst I have ever known. LOL It has been a year and yet the building was barely started. In real life, Millet’s father would have been incandescent with rage as he is losing money from the protracted building construction. 🙂
Anyway in Cebu, it turned out it was such a small world. One of the first people Anthony saw was Sheila. He was attracted to her and she to him. Before you know it, Sheila’s panty was thrown over her shoulders and her legs were akimbo ready to receive Anthony’s seeds. Hahaha
Sheila was so fecund that her one night stand with Anthony resulted in pregnancy.
Sheila’s father by the way is one of those corrupt ex-police officials. He is a bully, who loves nothing better than brandish his Magnum 45 especially when he’s drunk. Being the retired police chief, their family has a certain reputation to keep. Sheila will never be allowed to be a single mother. The person who impregnated her has to marry her or else, he is dead meat.
Anthony told Sheila’s mother rather weakly that he can’t marry Sheila as he was already married, he was not believed. And it seemed that the thought of having his own biological child is greater than the love he shared with Millet and therefore made up his mind immediately to live a double life and be married to Sheila as well.
Anthony married Sheila bigamously with the connivance of his own parents. Again this is unbelievable. Decent, intelligent parents would not knowingly allow their children to do criminal acts. They knew the potentiality of Anthony ending up in jail for bigamy. Anthony’s mother was introduced in the outset as someone who lives for her two boys. She was a loving, over-protective tigress to her cubs and yet she did not do anything much to prevent Anthony from making a big, possibly fatal mistake.
Anthony settled with Sheila in Cebu and now and again would go back to Manila to Millet and their adopted son “Ton-ton”. After months of toing and froing by Anthony, Sheila became suspicious and did her own detective work. She ended up finding out the real state of affair – she was married illegally to Anthony. But by this time, Sheila was so in love with Anthony, she was willing to suffer in silence. She gave birth to a baby boy. When Sheila’s father suggested that the only name appropriate to give to the newborn was Anthony Real IV, Anthony did not say anything, in fact he agreed with such alacrity. What can he be thinking?!!! He is on a suicide mission! 🙁
But all the lies are beginning to undo Anthony. One of these trials was when he had to make a choice. Stay with his and Millet’s son’s party or go back to Cebu to his sick baby?
Of course, he had to go back to Cebu.
At this point Millet finally begun to get suspicious. Someone, a stranger, told her point-blank that Anthony had married someone else in Cebu. Millet was informed of this marriage before but she was not in a state of mind to believe and just thought of it as a vindictive idle gossip.
The confrontation between Millet and Anthony was trending mightily high worldwide. Maricel Soriano, who played Millet, so far the best actress of them all, was in her element. Her Millet made Anthony pay only a wronged wife can do. She pinched Anthony’s face, slapped him 23 times and in between pulled his beautiful lustrous hair. It was brilliant. Maricel’s acting was top-notch, it was so believable, I ended up in tears in front of my computer. Crying with Millet, feeling Millet’s grief. I had to tell myself, it was not real! It was a television program and I must not board a plane for the Philippines and go find Dingdong and Lovi and knock their heads together, They were only in characters and doing a good job wrecking havoc to our emotions. LMAO! Brilliant actors. Actually the show has a stellar cast.
I read somewhere that the story will follow a natural legal outcome. It means probably that Anthony will pay for his bigamous shenanigans and ends up in jail.
There is a moral ending to this drama. Rightly so (to serve as a reminder to those bigamists and those thinking of committing bigamy) Anthony ended up in jail for his transgression.
He was incarcerated for five years. Millet stood by him and waited for him to come out. He did choose her.
Sheila on the other hand went to work in Italy and had started a new life, leaving Bubot, her child with her parents.
The saintly Millet learned to be forgiving to both Sheila and little Bubot. Sheila is now engaged to be married.
Millet and Anthony’s son had grown up into a respectful and loving teenager.
Millet and her father had a good heart to heart talk and forgave him for all the wrongs that he had done.
In the end, Millet lives with Anthony, who had learnt his lessons well.
You cannot have a cake and eat it too! Or rather you cannot have two cakes and eat both at the same time! 🙂
Yap, the series have ended this Friday. I think the ending was done very well. It tied up all the loose ends and in a good way. Anthony ended up in jail for 5 years after pleading guilty. He was finally and fully reconciled with Millet. After 5 years Tonton had grown up into a different boy while Millet, Anthony, Sheila and all the cast, except the children, had not age a day!
Yep, Henry was still my favourite character. The only one not tarnished with stupid, mawkish sentiment. He wanted justice and he, with the viewers on his side, got it.
I supposed the producers did say from the very beginning that the outcome in the end will follow a legal ending.
Well done. But what will I do now? I shall miss Mrs Real in the early evening here in the UK.
This is now the last week for this excellent Filipino drama. It has been a rollercoaster of emotion.
The full cast are very good in their own way but some characters are not very true to life, I supposed that is from artistic licence applied by production company to make the product more “saleable” so to speak.
Well for update:
Ton-ton is of course not dead. But run away and got picked by a lovely, kind-hearted woman, who have him roof over his head for a couple of days at least.
Millet ended up in the hospital for stress and mental breakdown, all of five minutes.
Henry and Aurora ended up in differing opinion in the end. Henry went through with the lodging of bigamy case against Anthony whilst Aurora, in the end, thought that Millet had suffered enough and just to sweep all of Anthony’s stupidity, thoughtlessness and criminal act under the carpet or rather bury the under the marble flooring and forget about them.
Anthony has been arrested in Manila and sent to Cebu to face his crime.
Millet was going mental and blaming her long suffering parents for all the wrongs that have gone through her marriage.
In the end, all the characters are full of flaws that you just want them to get their just dessert and be gone.
The only one I really like is Henry!
I cannot wait for all the drama to be over, not because I want to find out want happened but because I can’t bear Maricel Soriano’s over-acting anymore. I just want to slap her and tell her get angry with your errant husband and not with your mother and father. They were the only ones who really stood by her through thick and thin.
Stupid, stupid deluded Millet. She deserves what she gets in the end! LOL
I am loving Robert Arevallo, who plays Henry and Celeste Legaspi, as Aurora Gonzales. They are acting really well. I thought at first that Celeste would be the token posh mother but she surprised me how strong she was and articulate.
Better than the character of Maricel Soriano who played Millet. I had looked forward so eagerly to the day when she finally finds out what Dingdong’s Anthony has been up to and expected a real tirade from her and her plotting revenge worthy of Medea a la Greek traged but instead, after the initial slappingfest she gave Anthony, Millet has become rather irritating and not very true to life.
I can’t understand why suddenly she is playing so weak and almost meek. I know she has slapped anthony in so many ways and so many times but that does not really dissipate the anger instantly, especially in her case, where her husband not only had a prolong affair but actually married the woman and then had a son. The anger and hate and loathing should really be simmering ready to boil over given half a chance. At this point Millet should be pointing lazergun eyes, full of hatred and hurt, to Anthony. Every breath he takes, every move, every word out of place and she should be flying off the handle. Instead Millet is so defeated and just contented in sighing and looking faraway.
Maricel as Millet should let the intense emotion go the full hog and not just became complacently over-acting. Maricel should ask for a rewrite of her character. At this point she should be centre stage where she holds Anthony captive with her twisting the knife to his stupidity.
I am really disappointed with Maricel especially her being the Taray Queen, she should ask herself, what would she do if she was Millet, I think this is really the time to be more vindictive, vengeful, loathesome and much more, all at once. LOL
Millet should be an inspiration to women who live with erring husbands. It is not on to just take it as if nothing catastrophic has happenend. Your world has been turned upside down, therefore react as if you are in hell. Give Dingdong a taste of how you are feeling, make him suicidal, make him wish he has never taken his willy out of his trousers even to take a leak.
LOL
Just saw the trailer for the forthcoming episode of Mrs Real. It looks like Ton-ton dies. The poor boy gets run over and the next thing, a couple of policemen came to the house to advise that a boy fitting the description of ton-ton was lying in the morgue.
How horrible is that? Why can they do this to Millet? I think this will be the final nail to coffin as far as Millet and Anthony’s marriage, if tonton is really dead.
The Bugamist.
A June bug married an angleworm;
An accident cut her in two.
They charged the bug with bigamy;
Now what could the poor thing do?
—Punch Bowl.
I also heard that the teleserye would have been concluded this 28 August but due to popular demand, 3 whole weeks had been added making the final episode to be on the 18th or 19th of September.
Can’t wait how the show pans out!
Wow! It is really getting heated.
I must say I am so disappointed with how Millet’s character turned out to be. After that violent physicality with Anthony which taught him a lesson and made him realised what he had done with her, suddenly Millet’s anger has plateaued.
I can’t understand how a strong woman let an erring husband continue to get away with his shinanigans.
She learnt that Anthony did not only had an affair, she also found out that Anthony married the other woman.
And the other woman gave birth to Anthony’s biological child.
And to rub insult to injury, Anthony allowed the child to be named exactly the same name given to his and millet’s adopted child.
There is definitely no going back after those instances. Millet can’t say nor hide anymore under the reason that she was doing everything for young Ton-ton. The child will undertand if Millet throw out Anthony but he will, for sure, not understand his mom allowing the farce to continue. Two Mrs Real and two Anthony Real IV.
Any sane woman would not put up with any of these. Thank goodness for Henry’ Millet’s father. Hopefully he will right some of the wrongs done to his daughter.
