I love Boots. It is a place that I always go to not just for medicine but anything to do with the body and skin, as well as gifts during the Christmas season.
Boots, the chemist
When I first got to the UK, I met a lovely lady through the church. She was Evelyn Weekes. Though she is no longer with us, I still remember her fondly. I remember donating some things in the our local church bazaar Christmas sale for charity the first year I was over here in England. Without knowing that I have donated the items, Evelyn bought them from the sale and gave the things to me because she thought they suited me. 🙂 What a kind lady.
That kind of gestures from people of England made my migration to this country smooth and happy. 🙂 which I am forever grateful.
Anyway, Evelyn Weekes was the first woman executive of the brilliant Boots, the chemists.
When you buy anything from Boots, aside from drugs and medicine, you get points. The point system is generous. At the moment, I have earned £52.00. In late December they sent me an extra card, some sort of top up points, which I could use again and again for the whole of January, my birthday month. It proved very useful as the sale was just too good to pass.
I remember from previous years that on the second Wednesday of January, Boots would have their massive sale at 70 per cent off. This was today and it did not disappoint. The shelves at the shop are burgeoning with tempting lotions, make-up, gifts after another. I spent a fortune but was so happy and very tired carting along three massive bags of goodies.
I had to call Peter to get me from Brent Cross because I can’t carry everything. And like a trooper that he is, he came and carried all my bags home.
I am tempted to go back but I am now so tired. Well there is always tomorrow.
And I shall remember second Wednesday of January, Boots is the place to be.
