Apparently, this is a teacher-student story.  Well, it is there in the title, Sensei.  Looking forward to this movie because of Takeuchi Ryoma.  Just love him.

This is such a cute movie.

I have to admit that at first, I was like a teacher and student romance?  That is not really good.  But it was good, very sweet, very enjoyable.

Samura is a high school student who so desperately wanted to get a boyfriend as she feels she is being left behind by her classmates.

One day she was on a train when she saw Ren.

When he got off the train she followed him and called him to confess.

But Ren did not give her a chance.  He told her to stop before she even really began talking.

She was so upset that she ended up in a Sukiya (I don’t really know the type of restaurant) ordering several bowls of udon ramen soup.  While she was eating she was face-timing her best friend, Nakamura.

She told her all her woes, how desperate she was to have a boyfriend.  She had confessed to at least eight boys but there was no taker.

Her friend told her to go home and regroup.  She went to pay her bill but realised she does not have enough to settle the 4000 plus yen.

There was a queue at the till and the people are getting short-tempered waiting for her.  She asked Nakamura to come and help her out but her friend could not be bothered.

Suddenly someone said to add her bill to his and will be paying for both.

Samura looked up and fell instantly in love.  The man before her was tall and handsome.

She followed him outside to ask for his details so she could pay him back but he just said to forget it.

The next day, she was back to being so bubbly once again.

Ren was rather surprised to see how happy and unconcerned Samura looked after yesterday’s aborted confession.

During class, in walked their new homeroom teacher, who is also their math teacher.

Samura was surprised to see the man who paid for her dinner.

He was Mr Hiromitsu.

Knowing that he was her teacher, she told herself that they can’t be together.

She opened her locker and found a love note inside.  The note said that he had always liked her and would be waiting for her outside.

Samura was ecstatic, she was finally going to get a boyfriend.

She met the boy outside; they arranged to go on a date.

Though she was excited, she realised fairly early that she does not really like him.  She noticed that he wears pointy boots,  they went to a karaoke bar and found that he was out of tune and then she absolutely hated it when he held her hand because he had sweaty fingers.

Kotake, her childhood best friend/sweetheart told her that if you really like someone you would find his shortcomings rather cute.

So Samura tried to talk to the boy again but it got so bad, she ended up in the school pond/fountain.

Mr Hiromitsu lent his hand to her to help her out of the water but she ignored it.  They got talking, Mr Hiromitsu asked her if she even really like the boy, he said that just because he asked to go out with her, doesn’t mean she had to if she did not really fancy him.

Mr Hiromitsu thinks that everything can be solved with Mathematics.  He told her about logic.  There should be three agreeing premises to make a conclusion.  Always ask your self three things before making a judgment.

Samura was fighting her feelings for Mr Hiromitsu but he was making it so hard.  He seems to be encouraging her.

He asked her to help him mark the papers, he would wait for her after school, he would give her a lift home and even taken her to his house when she lost her house keys.  For lack of an umbrella one rainy day, he removed his jacket and used it to cover themselves against the rain.

Samura would sometimes pursue him rather aggressively and then she would stop herself.

Then one day, her class had to compete in a choir.  As Samura had to volunteer herself to lead the group as no one else would want to, she and Mr Hiromitsu had to factfind a suitable song for the choir.

He took her to a piano recital and the pianist was an old friend of Mr Hiromitsu.  She was Miss Saimon.

Miss Saimon ended up as a substitute music teacher at Samura’s school.

She suddenly realised that Mr Hiromitsu and Miss ‘Saimon looked so good together.

Anyway, Samura would not give up easily on Mr Hiromitsu.

She told him about the school legend regarding the Projection Mapping.

She recounted the legend of couples kissing in front of the Projection Mapping on the last night of the school festival will be together for a long time.

Mr Hiromitsu smiled.

Anyway, during the school festival, they competed with their choir but she ended up crying recalling her conversation with Miss Saimon.

Miss Saimon said that she likes Mr Hiromitsu as well and she will be taking him back to France so he can continue his field study.

She said to Samura that if she really likes Mr Hiromitsu then she should wish him to be happy.

Samura did realise the Mr Hiromitsu loves Math above all else and a chance to continue pursuing this love in France can only be a good thing.

But she can’t really face him so she hid in the math room.

Mr Hiromitsu was looking for Samura when Projection mapping started.  He asked his students for Samura’s whereabout but they teased him instead.

Mr Hiromitsu also bumped into Miss Saimon, who told him that she likes him and would probably welcome the kiss during the Projection Mapping.

Mr Hiromitsu though told her that there is a young lady who made his heart beat faster again and he would like to tell her so.

He found Samura in the math room eventually.

She told him that she loved him very very much.

Mr Hiromitsu tried to say something but Samura continued on.  She told him that she would stop liking him.  She is not worthy of him and he should go to France and do what he loved most.

Samura run off without letting Mr Hiromitsu say anything.

Mr Hiromitsu left his resignation letter.

He went to France not to go back but to go forward.

One and a half years later…

It was graduation day.  Samura was being teased by her friends about Kotake who said that he was dumped by Samura a very long time ago.

When they were just the two of them, Kotake said that he had liked her for a long time but knew that even now she only had Mr Hiromitsu in her heart.

Kotake did give Samura’s notebook to Mr Hiromitsu detailing her love for her teacher.

She was opening her locker for the last time when she found the love notebook.  All her feelings clearly written on the notebook had a corresponding reply from Mr Hiromitsu.  That he loved her too.

And he would be waiting for her in the math room.

Samura went then immediately and there was Mr Hiromitsu waiting for her.

He said he will do what she wanted on the notebook and to come closer.

Just like her drawing, he dropped to his knee and kissed her hand.  He took her face in his hand.  She puckered up expectantly for a kiss but Mr Hiromitsu marked her cheek with a ink stamp for good job.

Samura wailed for her kiss but Mr Hiromitsu just smiled boyishly.

Awww so cute.
