Awww yey Yun Xi is back as the White Snake.  So excited.  Ju Jingyi looks so luminously beautiful in the trailer.  Can’t wait.

I hope it has a happy ending.  But I think Yang Zi made a 2018, the Destiny of the White Snake.  I might watch that to just get a feel for this new drama.

Can’t wait

Episode 1

As I understand it, the White Snake, Bai Su Zhen from Er Mei Mountain, had been learning cultivation for 1000 years.  It took the tears or celestial dew from Bodhisattva, Guan Yin, to awaken her and be reborn into a human form.

As a show of gratitude to Guan Yin, Bai Su zhen asked her to make her disciple.  She was willing to leave the mortal world and become a Buddhist.

Guan Yin asked Su Zhen how was she going to leave the mortal world.

Su Zhen was lost for words, she did not know.

Guan Yin elaborated that humans have seven emotions and six sensory processes.  Humans have to learn to let go of pleasures to develop compassion towards enlightenment. (or something like that ?)  Therefore Su Zhen had to learn to be human first to achieve enlightenment.

Su Zhen started to mingle with humans.  She was in a busy market town when she came Xu Xian, who introduced himself as an excellent doctor because he was so good he can diagnose and cure most things.  He did not disabuse anyone spreading gossips that he was the reincarnation of the medical god, Hua Tou.

He was introducing himself to the people when he noticed the beautiful and ethereal Su Zhen looking on alertly.

Su Zhen though felt let down and thought that Xu Xian was a bit of a con man.  Su Zhen had met the real Hua Tou previously and he was not Xu Xian.

As a start to her enlightenment, she decided to ensure that Xu Xian was found out as a hoax doctor.

For some reason, she kept bumping into the doctor and her distrust towards him seemed to be rubbing into him as well as he now finds her rather annoying.

There was a child whose parents are both ill and he was now being fostered by Xu Xian’s married sister.

The boy met Su Zhen and told her that he knew that she was a fairy sent to help him.  He made her promised to cure his mother.

Su Zhen said that she never breaks a promise so she turned up at the boy’s house at the same time as Xu Xian.

The boy introduced Su Zhen to Xu Xian.  He said that Su Zhen had promised to cure his mother.

Xu Xian was skeptical but had issued a challenge to Su Zhen that whoever cures the boy’s mother will get to decide what happens and this was for Su Zhen never contact the boy and his family again.

Su Zhen agreed and went to Nuan Temple to look for the antidote for the poisonous green snake bite to the boy’s mother.

Meanwhile Fa Hei, the Buddhist monk was on a mission as a monster tracker/slayer.

Episode 2

Su Zhen wasted no time going to the Nuan Temple to get the antidote for the poisonous snake bite.  In the temple, she found the mischievous 500 years old green snake.  Still a young boy compared to her 1000 years experience.

They had mortal combat as well as snake versus snake fight but ultimately the white snake won.

The green snake told Su Zhen that the poisoning of Madam Yu was purely accidental.

Madam Yu came to the temple to seek a talisman for her son.  Instead of leaving an offering, she took all the cakes on offer at the altar including the apples where one was already bitten by the green snake.

Su Zhen apologised to the green snake, QiaoQing.

Su Zhen went immediately to Madam Yu’s house but along the way she was chased by Fa Hai, the monk, who doubles as a monster slayer.

Episode 3

It was a lantern festival.

Ru Yi asked Xu Xuan to take her to the festival.

Their mood changed immediately into a stressful time when a sudden windstorm interrupted the festivities.  Ru Yi and Xu Xuan got separated.

Then Xu Xuan saw Miss Bai and tenderly helped her to safety from a throng of fleeing people.

Many were injured and Miss Bai helped Xu Xuan treat the victims.

Behind the scene, the windstorm was caused by a giant invisible centipede who were taking children, at least ten.

It so happened that Fa Hai saw what was happening and gave chased to the invisible centipede.

Fa Hai’s sounding staff was following the scent of the while snake, Miss Bai who was trying to help Xu Xuan, who got busy trying to save people from a burning building.

Miss Bai used her cultivation to turn clouds into the rain to extinguish the fire.

Episode 4

One of the children taken was Chang Sheng.  He left his napa pearl.

Miss Bai made it a mission to save little Chang Sheng from the Centipede spirit, which they heard was going to start eating the children.

Jing Song, the squirrel, turned up to help and the green snake also tried to get the monk to lend a hand as well.

But the centipede woman killed Chang Sheng, which she regretted after realising that Chang Sheng was actually the reincarnation of her beloved daughter.

Apparently, the centipede lady was a concubine of the emperor.  She often told her daughter that she wished that she was a boy.  The girl though promised her mother that she was always going to be with her no matter what.

It will be the napa pearl that would signal her to her mother.

Not expecting that the reincarnation of her child will be as a boy, she had killed a hundred of the reincarnation before and now Chang Sheng!
