Episode 1
Qin Xiao Man is a new graduate of a progressive police academy that accepts women. She was top of her class.
She was assigned in Shanghai.
She was renting a huge room in the Sullivan Hotel.
When she was first shown her room, she got excited immediately and wanted the room, She saw a chalk figure hidden under the carpet/rug. It was obviously a murder scene. Her power of deduction, she knew instinctively where the bullet that killed the person in the room.
Anyway, because a murder had taken place in the room, her rent came pretty cheaply.
But then again, almost next to her room was inhabited by a strange guy who.was making very loud noises.
She knocked on his door and when it opened, she can just about see that there were blood on the floor.
She promised herself to get a search warrant first thing in the morning, her first job.
And she did.
The cops were very wary of her. Misogyny was alive. Well, I think this was set between the 1920s-1949s.
When the police chief asked her who the warrant was for, she described the man next door to her room. She and the chief almost at the same time realised that she was talking about the man who was just entering the police station and was going to shoot a gun.
Xiao Man was quick on her feet and had tackled the man with the gun onto the ground.
She then found out that the man was a respected detective and valued for his extensive forensic knowledge and experience. He was Luo Fei.
He then told them that he found out a type of bullet that was almost undetected. He experimented with it and broken a whole bottle of red wine in his room. (The blood)
Anyway, Luo Fei started investigating a cold case of a runaway wife, Mrs. Ma.
He chose the rookie Xiao Man to work with him.
