Episode1
Shuren and Sun Shu were college sweethearts. Out of the blue, Shuren breaks up with her without giving her any reason.
As a last ditch, Sun Shu gave him a cactus as a remembrance, which he threw on the ground, further humiliating her, telling her that they had broken up.
Eight years later, Sun Shu is working as a psychologist in Japan and reluctant to come home to China despite hearing that her mother had fainted and ended up in the hospital.
Shuren, in the meantime, is now a psychiatrist working in a hospital. He broached the subject of enlarging their psychiatry department to the Director of their Department by hiring more doctors like a psychologist.
The Director was his former university professor, Teacher Chen.
Sun Shu had a close male friend, Frank Xu, in Japan who had asked her to marry him but for some reason, she turned him down.
Episode 2
Sun Shu came back to China and found her mother the same as usual: not very motherly and tried to hide what was wrong with her.
Sun Shu later found out that her mother has a benign brain tumour that is growing.
Sun Shu also accepted a position offered to her as a psychologist as Sikang Hospital.
She was at the hospital to have a look around when Shuren saw here. He tried to approach her but he was waylaid by a nurse.
Episode 3
She later found out that Shuren also works as a psychiatrist at the same hospital. They pretended that they don’t know each other.
Shuren though noticed that Sun Shu was not wearing a ring so he was glad.
She was just about to go for a run when she met Shuren at the doorstep of her new apartment. It turned out that Shuren also lives in the same apartment building.
The next day, she had a pot of cactus waiting for her at her desk. It was a reminder of her college love affair with Shuren.
Sun Shu’s first patient was suffering from bipolar disorder.
Episode 4
Sun Shu gave the cactus to Xiaotan at the nursing station which Shuren saw. He quickly removed the note he wrote welcoming Sun Shu back to China.
Sikang Hospital also has a very progressive plastic surgery department, The main surgeon was a young, overly confident doctor, Chen Yi Fan, who was best friend with Shuren.
Chen Yi Fen’s patient was a young man who was obsessed with plastic surgery. He had sent his mother to despair that she went to the hospital to confront Chen Yi Fan.
The mother went to consult with Sun Shu who diagnosed that the young man has indeed a mental problem.
Chen Yi Fan was at first annoyed fat Sun Shu for taking his client but as he watched her telling him off, he fell in love. 🙂
Episode 5
Sun Shu’s next patient was a victim of domestic violence. The woman was so traumatised she had lost all her sense of will. Her husband is a very domineering rich entrepreneur, who seemed to take out all his frustrations towards his young wife.
Shiren noticed that Sun Shu was getting friendlier with Chen Yi Fen and was jealous when she noticed that she did not come home or came home really late.
Episode 6
Sun Shu and Shiren started flirting with one another over a take-out breakfast.
Sun Shu’s mother had invited her for a meal but Sun Shu turned her down to teach her a lesson for ignoring her over the years.
Episode 7
The woman who was a victim of domestic violence found out that she was pregnant. In the end she went back home to her husband. Shiren though had warned the husband that they have a full hospital record of his wife and her pregnant state.
Sun Shu was planning a surprise birthday dinner for her mother.
Shiren had a new patient who was an alcoholic.
Sun Shu cooked all her mother’s favourite dishes for her birthday.
Episode 8
Poor Sun Shu! She waited for her mother but she was a no-show. She later found out that her mother was attending an award ceremony.
She brought a huge bunch of flowers and went to the award ceremony, where her mother was an awardee.
During her mother’s speech, she said that her family sacrificed a lot for her but it was all worth it. She then remembered an instant when she was so worried about her sick father and then watching her mother seeming unconcerned and packing to go to a conference.
She was so annoyed she gave the flowers to Chen Yi Fen who was also at the award night and having won an award himself.
He said that no wonder he fell in love with Sun Shu, she was the daughter of his idol.
Chen Yi Fan was doing everything to court Sun Shu, but she just ignored him.
He then started bugging Sun Shu’s mother, who was not help at first as she does not really know her own daughter. She did notice that Chen Yi Fen genuinely liked her daughter.
He then went to Sun Shu’s best friend for advice.
He was told that Sun Shu had always wanted to see a musical fountain with her mother.
Sun Shu and Shiren had a nostalgic trip to eat spicy lobsters. But before they could start their lobster, Shiren got a message that his alcoholic patient was about to jump off from the roof of the hospital.
Shiren and Sun Shu went back to the hospital. Shiren tried to talk out the patient but they both ended up plunging into the blow-up cushion set up by the fire brigade.
They were both ok.
Sun Shu was so worried that she went to hug Shiren tightly.
Episode 9
Chen Yi Fen had formally asked Sun Shu’s mother that he wanted to date her daughter. She gave him her blessing as her daughter was really getting on in age.
Shiren and Sun Shu was flirting up a storm.
She went to his apartment to watch a movie with him. They were getting on alright when she asked what was the reason why he broke up with her.
Still, he would not say. Instead, he asked whether they could just start all over again.
Chen Yi Fen arranged a surprise for Sun Shu. It was a musical fountain, but it did not work the way he wanted.
It left Sun Shu soaking went.
Episode 10
Shiren was being investigated for accepting money from his patient.
He unknowingly accepted a book from a grateful patient without realising that the patient inserted a card among the pages of the book.
Episode 11
Professor Lin is becoming more forgetful as her tumour is growing and yet she is hesitant to undergo the required surgery.
Because she was keeping her forgetfulness from Sun Shu, her daughter thought that her mother was unfeeling and cold, especially when they went to honour her father’s gravesite.
Sun Shu did not realise that her father instructed Professor Lin, who was his consultant at that time (doctors in the west can’t treat their own family) not to resuscitate, which acknowledged and applied when her husband was beyond medical help. Sun Shu blamed her mother for this action.
Anyway Chen YiFan had moved in at Shiren’s apartment as part of a plan to get closer to Sun Shu.
The bromance between YiFan and Shiren was rather adorable.
Anyway Sun Shu treats YiFan as nothing more than a joker.
YiFan however was serious about her and went to Professor Lin for some helf.
Professor Lin quite like YiFan. She finds him innocent and pure.
Finally the alcoholic guy had called Shiren and apologised for all the misunderstanding and offered to go to the hospital management to clear things up.
Shiren, however, declined because he believes that the investigation itself will clear him up.
Jun Ming, a hidden son, of a director in the hospital, will begin working at Sikang Hospital. In episode 10, when Jun Ming seemed to have fallen in love at first sight with Jingran. Jun Ming is a very naive, mama’s boy, who would like to consult his mother for everything.
The next patient for Sun Shu is a woman who exhibits bulimia nervosa.
I love this drama. Very interesting.
