This looks like a nod to Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.

So looking forward to this drama.  Yi Tian and Yunlong are both eye candy.  Yummy

Episode 1

This drama is set during the Republican Era.

Luo Yao was woken up by a telephone call from his landlord(?) advising him that the constables were after him.

Luo Yao did not waste any time and ran still wearing his pyjamas and silk robe.

But Inspector Qiao  Chusheng was already waiting for him at the backdoor.

Still, Luo Yao ran but the posse of constable gave chase and he was arrested and brought to the police station.

Qiao Chushung signed him in, he already knew that the young man before him was Luo Yao, 24 years old, he was a manager at the Bank of Sasson’s Stock Department, he was a graduate of Trinity College in Cambridge with double majors in Math and Medicine.  And he was a member of a UK Freemasonry rising to the degree of a Deacon.

Luo Yao said that he also studied Law but got lazy so did not bother to finish it.

Anyway, Luo Yao was told that he was a suspect to murder of Chen Quisheng, who Luo Yao had a very public disagreement the previous night.

Luo Yao was very surprised that Chen Qiuseng was dead but he said that he was not the killer.  He said that after the disagreement with Chen Quiseng he was thrown out of the house.

In his fury, he scratched Chen Quisheng’s car and smashed the car window.  He then said that a security man saw him and gave chase to him with his dog.

Qiao Chushung was called out and saw Bai Youning, who works as a journalist and wanted to sit in during the interrogation of the Chen Quisheng’s murder suspect.

Bai Youning was an indulged young lady because she was the daughter of the big boss of the police station.  Bai Youning’s father enabled Qiao Chushung to become an inspector despite lacking experience.

Anyway Qiao Chushung allowed Bai Youning to sit in while he interviewed Luo Yao, who complained that it was against the law to have a journalist to sit in during a criminal interview.

Both Qioa Chushung and Bai Youning were astounded by the observational skill of Luo Yao.

Luo Yao just looking at their clothes, body language, etc can tell almost their life story. (Very Sherlock Holmes)

The security guard came to the station and was able to identify Luo Yao as the man he chased with his dog at exactly 9.pm.

In effect, Luo Yao had a solid alibi and should have been let go but Qioa Chushung said that he was going to use Luo Yao to investigate Chen Quisheng’s murder.

Luo Yao was adamant at first as he had a full work at the Bank but apparently the Security Guard returned to the station and went back on his word.

Luo Yao then was forced to prove that he was innocent.

He and Qiao Chusheng went to the mansion of Mr Nie where the murder of Chen Quisheng happened.

They went to see Mr Nie, who was being attended by his personal doctor.

Luo Yao said that the killer of Chen Quisheng was none other than the doctor because for a Harvard graduate, he should have known not to pull the knife from the victim.

This drama is really interesting and the main leads, Hu Yi Tian and Zhang Yunlong are so watchable; total eye-candy.
