National Tree Week
23 November to 1 December is National Tree Week in London Uk for 2019.
We are encouraged (and rightly so) to plant a tree.
I think it is a great endeavor to plant at least a tree, be it a large pot or in a suitable area in the garden.
Trees sustain life.
They are crucial in our lives in so many ways.
- They hold or serve as an anchor to the soil, preventing soil erosion.
- Trees can minimise flooding. They can control the flow of water going into mainland waterworks.
- They produce plenty of oxygen while they take in carbon dioxide. We have a symbiotic relationship with them. We take in their fresh oxygen while they imbibed in our bad breaths and farts. LOL
- They are crucial or even preventing or slowing down global warming.
- Wooded areas are ideal for walks and hiking. Forest bathing is good for the soul and spiritual well-being. They are a stress reliever.
- They beautify localities, can make an otherwise less aesthetic area into a green and verdant land.
- Trees are home for wildlife especially our feathered friends.
- Fruit-bearing trees could be a source of, yes, edible fruits.
- Flowering trees are beautiful.
- They are a natural shade from the sun and sometimes rain.
