Episode 1
Wow! This is instant falling in love with the leads. Their chemistry is gratifying to note. Li Landi is adorable while Wang Anyu is gorgeous despite being mostly bald. LOL
Anyway, the drama started in the 21st century.
Ming Wei is an intern in an architectural firm in Beijing headed by her idol, Mr Bei.
On her way to work one day as she passed the Forbidden City, she noticed a man in a Qing Dynasty costume, standing just outside the gate, totally focused on her as she sat on the bus. She was mildly curious but thought nothing more of it.
During the course of the day, her manager asked her to look for books in preparation for the morning meeting with Mr Bei.
She was rather concerned at first because it was already 4 pm and the library located inside the Forbidden City closes at 5pm. But the look on her manager made her think otherwise.
She quickly rushed into the library. The librarian was rather uncooperative at first as she was already about to leave as it was only 7 minutes to five.
Ming Wei convinced her that she could pick the books herself within five minutes and she did.
The librarian was impressed. Ming Wei said that she knew her way around as the Forbidden City was her usual hang-out when was a student.
Anyway on her way out of the Forbidden City, it got tricky. She seemed to go round and round and can’t find her way out. It was getting dark and she was still going in circles until she saw a lit part of the palace. She went to knock and someone announced: “You’re finally here, come in.”
A mature lady came to meet her.
Ming Wei quickly asked her how to get out of the palace.
She was told that it was hard to get out once you get in.
But taking pity on her, the lady gave her a beautiful antique lamp.
Ming Wei refused the lamp at first but the lady was insistent. Ming Wei was told that the lamp will guide her on her way.
It seemed to have done the trick as she finally got home and just in time to listen to the evening news about the Saturn and Moon spectacle that was due to happen.
Apparently, the magnetic fields of Saturn and the Moon will interact which will have an impact on Earth.
It seemed the impact was nothing negative because Ancient Chinese used to view this interaction between Saturn (known as the most beautiful planet and the Lord of the Rings) and Moon as a symbol of hope. The interaction had happened several times.
All of a sudden there was thunder and lightning which spooked Ming Wei as she started seeing an apparition that turned into a 3D image of a gorgeous young guy dressed in Qing Dynasty costume.
Ming Wei run out of her apartment in the rain into her friend’s apartment.
After her friend had her calmed down, Ming Wei decided to go back to her apartment to finish of a project she was dying to submit to Mr Bei the following morning.
When she got back at her apartment, the 3D guy was still in her apartment, secretly smirking as he watches her shocked and confused face. She also made a Feng Shui stick into a cross to ward him off.
She was thinking that he was all in her mind because of stress and lack of sleep.
3D guy went to sit by her desk reading a book.
Ming Wei decided to ignore him and continue on with her drawing on her drafting table.
The next morning, Mr Bei was impressed with her design but he said that she needed to amend it more to better show the relationship between space and time.
Finally she had a ‘me’ time and was enjoying a bath when all of a sudden 3D guy appeared and started walking to and fro in her bathing area.
She quickly wrapped herself in her towel, which made 3D guy smirked even more.
He was still smirking in his sleep in his own time. This was noticed by the 4th Prince who told the 13th Prince that he had been behaving strangely lately.
The 13th Prince said that he had been to a place that he cannot explain.
Episode 2
The 13th Prince can visit Ming Wei in his dream.
At first, Ming Wei was wary of him but he had inspired her to complete her project, which Mr Bei was very enthusiastic about.
The 13th Prince had become a regular at Ming Wei’s apartment. He readily confessed to her that he liked her and wanted to marry her.
Ming Wei just laughed it off as it was rather an incongruous idea because they have 300 years difference in their life timeline.
Episode 3
The Prince was walking through the market when he thought he saw Ming Wei in his timeline.
There was actually a MIng Wei but she was in love with her cousin. The two were planning to elope.
Poor Ming Wei (modern) had also fallen for the 13th Prince but she was determined to get over him immediately.
She went on an informal group blind date. The men were shocked/surprised at the amount she was drinking. She was trying to get drunk to forget the Prince as he seemed to be everywhere she looked.
When she got home, the Prince was waiting for her. He was worried.
She promptly fell asleep on the settee.
When she woke up, the prince was still there looking at her.
He said that he liked her the first time he saw her.
She was also forced to confess that she liked him but it would amount to nothing.
He can’t go to the movies with her, go clubbing with her, or even touch her. What kind of relationship was that?
The Prince said that he was happy being with her just talking with her was more than enough for him.
Ming Wei threw a satsuma at the Prince telling him that if he can catch/hold the satsuma then she would like him back. Unfortunately, the satsuma went through the prince. He then woke from his on time and realised that it was over with Mng Wei.
Everything that they did or connected to them together started disappearing.
Episode 4
But their memories lived on and they both were pining for each other.
Ming Wei was missing the 13th Prince so much it had begun to affect her work. She cannot concentrate and had been making mistakes.
In the news, it was trending about a mysterious apricot tree that was in full bloom in front of the Forbidden City.
Ming Wei went to see it for herself and realsied that the 13th Prince must have planted it for her. She then saw again the mysterious lady that gave her the lantern.
The lady said that she knew everything and confirmed that the tree was planted for her. She will find out everything when the meteor shower passed her by.
When she got home, she was missing the prince so much and then he appeared. She was so happy to see him.
He was so happy to see her.
She apologised to him and he said that she was indeed harsh but he came to realise that she was right.
They ended up kissing and were both surprised that they can feel one another, It was no longer a dream. They went for a second kiss but the prince started to dematerialise and then was gone.
To understand what was going on MIng Wei (whose name in modern times is actually Xiao Wei) attended a symposium in Quantum physics. The professor discussed about quantum teleportation between universes through wormholes. It seems everything that cannot be explained is a product of a quantum mind. 🙂
Liu Hui her manager stole her chance to complete the job for Mr Bei. Xiao Mei was so upset but her friend cheered her up.
Her friend told her to watch another chance to see Saturn and Moon interaction. While they were there her friend told her to make a wish. If she wishes sincerely and fervently, it would come true.
Xiao Mei made her wish of being able to see 13th again. She then left her friend and went directly to the Forbidden City.
Suddenly different voices were calling on to her which made her confused into a dead faint. When she woke up she was completely disorientated and did not recognise where she was. She then noticed a girl lying on the ground in ancient Chinese dress.
The girl looked at her and told her that she was dying and asked Xiao Mei to live for her noticing that they were lookalikes. Otherwise, her mother will be sad.
