Episode 1

A casket was brought inside a building and from inside it stepped out a young lady, Ran Yan, who had been kidnapped to determine the cause of death of the brother of the bandit leader.

Ran Yan examined the cadaver.

The bandit leader then asked her what caused the death of his brother.

Ran Yan refused to comply until her teacher was set free and all his gambling debts written off.

The leader was not playing and was going to kill her teacher first so Ran Yan talked.

She said that the man died from being beaten up badly as his rib cage had caved in and his organs were all punctured thus he was bloated.

Knowing that the leader would not let them go alive, she stuck a needle into him and run.

She and her teacher ended up by the river and the only way was for them to jump.  Her teacher jumped but she hesitated as she can’t swim.

Suddenly arrows fell their pursuers and a mysterious handsome man in black appeared.

There was a lot of fighting so Ran Yan ended up jumping into the water and would have drowned or killed by the bandit if the mystery man, Su Fu, did not dive after her.

When she came to, she was already on her bed at the Ran Mansion.

Her maid reminded her that she was about to marry the illegitimate son from the House of Su.

Ran Yan had no wish to be married just yet, not to anyone.  So she tried to run away again but all doors were guarded.

So she snuck out off the window into the yard and went to their grain granary and blow it up to get the guard so busy she can run away.

It worked as well for a short time.

But the guards were on to her.  So she ran everywhere and ended up in a brothel and into a spa.  She saw a gorgeous high naked man already in the water but she did not care.  She dived into the water.

The guards after her were shooed away by the man, who happened to be Xiao Xiong, the Dynasty police commissioner.

He fished her out from the water and had a proper look at her. He knew immediately that she was not one of the prostitutes in the brothel because she was dress simply.

And she started massaging his temple because she told him that she knew he suffers from migraine but the herbal bath will not cure his migraine.  He needed acupressure for it.

Anyway, she jumped out of the bath and mingled with the dancers of the brothel in order to hide from her guards.

But she got caught up in the mystery of the Pearl of Marquis of Sui which was in the possession of merchant Lui Can, a guest of the brothel.

During the night of dancing and carousing, Lui Can was killed by a dancer, almost right before their eyes, only partly hidden by a thin almost transparent curtains.

Su Fu was there and so was Xiao Xiong, whose assignment was to get the pearl.
