Something for the weekend. Watch this space for the review and summary. By all accounts this film is one horrific and terrifying movie. Be ready with a huge bucket of popcorn as it will be a two and a half hours marathon.
I have just finished watching this film with the hubby. Our verdict? It is a most excellent & scary horror movie Something you will not forget easily.
It is well made and well-acted.
I wonder how audiences received it at the cinema? I would not be surprised if there had been a lot of screaming and jumping in their seats.
The first hour was a slow build-up, with humourous touches including some slapstick & pratfall scenes between the leading characters playing the village police. This we think is a clever device & means to lull us the audience into a false sense of thinking this will not be that frightening or scary as the publicity and critics proclaimed. As the story unfolds, a much darker scenario makes its presence felt. The quintessential battle between Good and Evil, with the protagonists as old as time battling for souls of the small village. There is a homage in the movie to probably the best horror movie made, ‘The Exorcist.’
This film literally tired me out watching it. The last one and a half hours were full of suspense and some pretty gruesome scenes. I screamed a few times.
