A young Emperor falls for a kind and lovely girl who is the daughter of a minister.
Episode 1
Sujin was dressed like a boy when she sneaked out of their mansion with her maid.
They went to Muchen Temple to see the lantern festival which coincided with once every century astronomical phenomena which were predicted to happen by the administration of Heavenly Observatory.
But first she laid her offering and wish for her father’s success in the border, her mother’s continued good health, her sister’s wellbeing, and for her to find a guy who will love her for eternity.
As soon as she finished her prayers under the wishing tree, she spotted a very handsome man but she got distracted when girls started surrounding her to give her their handkerchief. The girls thought she was a very handsome boy.
One of the handkerchiefs fell and picked up by the handsome guy. Sujin had a few moments of staring into each other’s eyes with the handsome stranger. He gave her the handkerchief and disappeared.
Sujin tried to find him but can’t so the next best thing was to complete her mission to watch the astronomical event by climbing on a wall for a better view.
The handsome guy is really a prince. He went to the temple to speak to a monk who gave him the gold jade left to him by his father, the king.
An assassin was lying in wait and was after the jade. He threw some darts which got the monk instead of the prince, who went chasing after him.
The assassin was on horseback when he passed the wall where Sujin was sitting. He threw a dart towards her which dislodged her long hair making it obvious that she is a beautiful young girl.
She got disorientated and fell straight into the arms of the Prince who was also on horseback chasing the assassin.
When he knew that she was safe, he dropped her unceremoniously on the ground where her maid found her.
She was in trouble with her mother when they got home because Sujin was supposed to attend a party, being given by the Princess Dowager, with her. Instead, her mother had to take Suyu, Sujin’s older sister but an illegitimate one. Being illegitimate, Suyu had to wear a veil in the presence of the Princess Dowager.
The mother did not like Suyu at all but Sujin quite love her sister so she told her mother that she was not feeling very well to stop her mother’s further tirade.
The next morning, the Princess Dowager’s head eunuch came to the Wen mission to deliver the edict that Wen Sujin was to marry Prince Yu.
At the same time, Prince Jin came to the mansion to ask Sujin’s hand in marriage.
Prince Yu heard about it and was perturbed as Sujin’s father is an important and able warrior and does not want to make an enemy of him.
Prince Yu had just lost his first wife and was not ready for another marriage.but he cannot let Sujin marry Prince JIn.
So he ordered his retinue to take him to the Wen Mansion.
Meanwhile, Suyu was gagging to get married and scape the very confining Wen Mansion. She thought without Sujin around, she can be married to Prince Yu or Prince Jin.
Suyu went to see Sujin and convinced her to run away because she was too young to get married.
sujin said that she can’t because there was an official edict for her marriage.
Suyu told her to go find their father who can write to the Princess Dowager to cancel the edict.
Sujin escaped and ran for her dear life. She saw a passing carriage and went into it and fell in the arms of Prince Yu.
Episode 2
The assassins were still after Prince Yu.
There were so many of them that even his able bodyguard got injured and his soldiers felled to the ground. Prince Yu and Sujin were cornered by the cliff and both fell.
When Sujin woke up she found the handsome man still unconscious and seemed to be ill. She tended to him and brought him to some shady area and lit a fire. She ended up falling asleep next to him.
The next morning he was not there anymore and she got worried that he had been taken and eaten by wolves during the night.
But he was there and seemed to have recovered. They went to find somewhere to stay.
Prince Yu started suspecting Sujin that she was part of the assassins because she was always there when they attack.
He asked her what her name was and if she knew who he was.
Thinking that he has amnesia, Sujin told him that she was his mother. :). So cute.
If I have amnesia, Prince Yu said, I would have lost my memories but I would have not turned into an idiot. If you are my mother, you might have been already pregnant when your mother was pregnant with you.
Anyway, she told him that her name was Jin, Jinyan.
Meanwhile, Suyu was kick-starting her plan. She told her stepmother to marry her off to take the place of Sujin. Suyu said that she knew her stepmother does not want Sujin to get married yet. Suyu promised that she would not tell a single soul about what they were going to do.
In the end, the stepmother agreed to Suyu’s plan.
Episode 3
Prince Yu more or less knew that his companion is Sujin after he asked her some question about her mission to go to the border.
She said she was going there for a friend who was being forced to marry from two different. Her friend does want to marry any of the two so she will try to bring back General Wen to speak to the Queen to cancel the edict.
He told her that he will help but she stopped him saying that he had lost his memory so how could he.
Anyway, Prince Yu told her that person there is a way to cancel the wedding. Is had something to do with astrology. If they found that her date of birth is not compatible with the Prince or her signs foretells that she will bring chaos to the kingdom, it is very likely she was not going to be allowed to marry into the royal family.
He added that the downside would be that even commoner would not want to marry her.
They left the inn and they were on their way to the Muchen Temple when assassins once again turned up.
Prince Yu held her tightly next to him, which Sujin objected to. She said that if he kept holding, no one will want to marry her.
Prince Yu said that if she begs him, he will marry her.
Sujin did not have a problem with this, she asked where would they live?
The assassins found them but Prince Yu and Sujin ran for dear life.
At last Prince Yu’s soldiers found them and took over fighting the assassins. Sujin was hurt a little and was then secretly left in a nearby temple.
Meanwhile, at the palace, Prince Jin threatened to kill himself if he was not allowed to marry Sujin, the love of his life.
Suyu ran inside the palace to beg the queen to stop Prince Jin from hurting himself.
The Queen promised Prince Jin a very high award to make him a general but Prince Jin refused because he was looking forward to a marriage life with Sujin.
Suyu removed her masked.
Prince Jin immediately changed his mind, he said that he will be a general instead. He asked himself what was going on as he looked at the girl before him who is not Sujin.
Episode 4
When Sujin woke up she found the golden jade by her side.
She asked the monks to search for a young man in white and another in black.
The monks said they could not find them. The head monk gave her her astrology reading.
She went home only to see Suyu dressed in a beautiful red wedding dress leaving the Wen House in a carriage.
She started to shot for her but her mother heard and had the guards stop her.
Sujin said that she can’t bear her sister to marry against her will. But her mother said that they will be all killed if it gets found out the Suyu is a fake Sujin.
Her mother also added that it was Sujin’s fault, she ran away. But she also mentioned that Suyu was all for it. She wanted to get married.
They were still talking when a messenger came to give them a letter from Suyu asking for the 9headed jade. Without the jade that was given by the late emperor to Sujin the wedding could not take place.
Sujin went to the palace to give the jade to Suyu.
She told Suyu that she doesn’t have to marry anyone because she has astrology reading from a head monk.
Suyu told her that it was too late the Princess Dowager knew how she looked.
Sujin, feeling defeated, asked her sister if she could as least stay for a few days so she could see her get wed.
Suyu agreed but made her promised not to make any trouble.
Episode 5
Sujin was really surprised that with a golden jade token she can go anyway in the massive palace and ground of Prince Yu.
It was the wedding day, but Prince Yu refused to visit Suyu and consummate the marriage.
The Princess Dowager was incandescent with rage and resolved to drag the prince herself to bring him to his new wife.
But when she got to his manor/palace he was not there.
He was taking a walk and happened to see Sujin in a boat.
He went to her but the guards are searching the whole palace including the grounds.
Prince Yu jumped into the water taking a complaining Sujin with him.
At this point, she still does not know that he was Prince Yu. She thought that he was the Prince’s bodyguard, Li Longli.
The prince almost drowned but Sujin, who said can’t swim, saved him.
He then took her to a derelict and abandoned place in the palace to spend the night and hide.
Despite the lateness of the evening, Suyu continued to wait until a very unlucky looking black cat frightened her maid-servants and her.
They saw the cat left bloody footsteps all over the room.
Bad omen.
Episode 6
Jin Yan is particularly stupid and annoying in this episode. She just can’t leave things alone. She was determined to bring home her sister despite Suyu now ‘married’ to the Crown Prince.
She wanted to show the horoscope tablet to the Princess Dowager to make her aware that Suyu is not suitable to become a member of the Royal Family.
Xaio Yu told her to forget it and Prince Jin told her that it was too late. She would only put her whole family in danger including Suyu.
Did she get rid of it? No! She sulkily walked with it in front of the Princess Dowager’s head eunuch.
He saw the horoscope tablet and questioned her in front of Suyu who said that she does not know anything about it.
The Head Eunuch ordered that she be taken to imperial prison to be flogged to death.
She was screaming her head off at every paddling when the Crown Prince came to her rescue but Prince Jin was a tad quicker and who was already on her case and had her let go.
Episode 7
Prince Jin was stopped from carrying Jinyan out of the imperial prison by the guards sent by the Crown Prince. She was flogged some more but almost tenderly (acting here was so atrocious) until she was taken by Guard Zhong to the Garden Service Division. She will now become a farm-maiden.
Prince Yu humiliated Suyu by saying she was a fake and does not care for her maid who she said was someone she grew up with. Suyu did not speak for her made at all. She does not have loyalty nor empathy. And the Prince was therefore disappointed with her.
Episode 8
Prince Yu came to visit Jinyan at the Garden Service Division.
Jinyan immediately asked him if she could borrow the Gold Jade token so she could go everywhere. He told her he would allow her to borrow it if she could get Prince JIn’s token first.
Jinyan said that was impossible as she barely knew Prince Jin.
Prince Yu thought that Jinyan was lying to him and told her that this time was the last time he was going to see her.
Jinyan was surprised how ‘Guard Zhong’ got so agree with her.
Meanwhile, Suyu was almost poison but was saved by Prince Jin who was incognito as a guard.
Suyu told Prince JIn that she was loyal to him and now as a Princess Consort she can help him attain the top position.
Even Prince Jin was shocked with was she said but he did not disagree. So he was going to use her.
Jinyan got involved in politicking and ended up poisoned by the head of the Garden Service Division.
There was a girl at the Garden Division who had lost her mind was screaming about a lost Testament that was given to the former Princess Dowager.
Episode 9
Thank goodness, Prince Yu appeared and saved her. She was taken to the Drying Room for medication. She had been poisoned with hemlock.
Prince Jin found out about what happened to Sujin and was very concerned but advised that she was being cared for by the Imperial doctor and was on the road to recovery.
Zhong Li saw Prince Jin looking in at the Drying Room towards Jinyan.
Meanwhile, Suyu started her mission to be Prince Jin’s spy and went to Prince Yu to tell him that she used to do the paperwork at her home and she was quite good at it. She said she could help him with the paperwork as well and she was good at keeping secrets.
Prince Yu saw through her and told her to mind her own business and be more circumspect.
Episode 10
Jinyan is at her nosiest again. She was finally able to see Suyu and told her that she was worried about her because she dreamt that Suyu died. She said that weirdly her dreams of late have have coming true.
Jinyan said that they should escape.
Suyu said that even if they escape, where would they go? Also, they would put their parents in danger if they just vanished.
Suyu told the naive Jinyan that the only they could go unharmed is if the Testament is found.
Jinyan said she would look for it as she can now go anywhere with the gold Jade token.
She heard that the Princess Dowager had gone away to a temple so Jinyan was encouraged by Suyu to search the royal family ancestral hall for the testament. When she got there, she just missed Prince Yu.
Unfortunately, the Princess Dowager had returned for feeling unwell. Jinyan almost got caught by the guards. She decided to jump into a well and dropped down next to Prince Yu.
They started bickering and got really heated and physical. Jinyan was really going mental until Prince Yu had to knock her out in frustration and left her unconscious in the well.
He did tell Zhong Li to go rescue her.
Episode 11
Prince Jin visited Sujin to give her a letter from her mother begging her to return home. Prince Jin told her that as a maid she can’t really do much to help her sister.
But JInyan was not only thinking of sister anymore. She is addicted to Zhong Li (Prince Yu)
Prince Yu heard that Jinyan had an intimate moment alone with Prince Jin.
Episode 12
After rescuing her yet again, Prince Yu asked Jinyan to be honest and tell him everything about herself. Jinyan said she really can’t
Meanwhile, Jinyan unwittingly created trouble again by accepting the help of a friendly eunuch to weed the garden which has rare herbs, especially for Princess Dowager.
The eunuch thought he was doing Jinyan a favour to revenge herself from the Garden Division by pulling out all the herbs and weeds.
The Princess Dowager was ready to have Jinyan executed but Prince Jin and Prince Yu spoke for her.
She was then pardoned but Princess Dowager said that she should still be punished because she was becoming na endless source of trouble.
Jinyan knelt for three days in the courtyard. Her immature face got more crumpled as she got annoyed.
Episode 13
Rubber face Jinyan used the gold jade token to get to the winery of Consort Wen. Prince Yu followed her she started smashing the wine bottles and jar. She said that it was the only way for Consort Wen would thing that Jinyan is indispensable and would hire her.
Despite being so immature, Prince Yu tolerated her. Jinyan got drunk and passed out.
Prince Yu by this time is so in love with her that he would do everything she says. So he ordered his bodyguard to smash all the wine jars and pretend that a cat did it.
Prince Yu was notified that Prince Jin was going out of control and even ransacked Mouyan Temple where the beloved national Monks was residing.
He ordered the arrest of Prince JIn.
The Princess Dowager tagged along to force Prince Yu to be more lenient in punishing Prince JIn.
Episode 14
Prince Jin was not punished severely.
Jinyan started working for Consort Wen.
Episode15
It was a wine festival.
Jinyan noticed that the wine which will be given to Suyu was yellow instead of the clear one she had just checked.
She knew it was poisoned.
Then she found out who the real Zhong LI and who the real Prince Yu.
She was so unhappy with being betrayed by Prince Yu. But she completely ignored the fact that she was so stupid and ignorant. It has been so obvious all along and everyone has told her a million times that she had the gold jade token which is owned by the one with the highest position in the imperial family and this just went above her head.
Annoying girl. How can she be legendary? Probably in stupidity. LOL
Episode 16
The real Zhong Li had no time for the spoilt and immature Jin Yan who was complaining that Prince Yu had killed her romantic Zhong Li. She hated the prince for it. It did not even come to her mind that she was flirting and having a mini relationship with her brother-in-law. LOL
Zhong Li told her that she misunderstood the prince who motivated half of the army to save her. But again, Jinyan was beyond reasoning.
Suyu visited Jinyan in prison.
At last, the clueless Jinyan found out that her sister had hated her all along and was always been jealous of her. But then again Suyu had good reasons as she told her younger sister.
Suyu, being an illegitimate daughter has always been in the shadow of Sujin. And when she finally got away, Sujin followed and created mayhem almost causing her to be killed. She had lost the respect of Prince Yu and the love of Prince Jin.
She told Jinyan to confess that she poisoned the wine and she will help with the Princess Dowager.
Jinyan said that even if she was to be flogged to death she will not confess to something she did not do.
And Suyu had her strapped in a flogging cross. She was whipped in the chest when Consort Wen turned up and told Suyu that she was punishing her maid who is innocent.
She then showed the result of the investigation that the poisoning culprit was maid, Xia’er.
Consort Wen then whispered to Suyu that her doom is coming.
Prince Yu came striding by and removed Jinyan from her tether and carried her away amidst Suyu asking him what she was going to tell the Princess Dowager. He barked to her that she should also think of what she was going to tell him.
Jinyan was almost personally taken care of by the Prince himself. But when she came around, she was still very upset and dismissive of him.
Zhong Li was almost committing insubordination against Prince Yu when he said that he was being unfair. He favours Jinyan too much who was only a made and yet he has the Princess Consort kneeling for hours in front of the mansion.
Zhong LI added that Jinyan heinously disrespected the Princess Dowager at the Wine Festival.
Prince Yu told off Zhong Li for interfering in his personal life but he said to return Jinyan to the Garden Service Division.
Jinyan is back to her normal spoilt self. Despite saying she was betrayed by the Prince, this did not stop her to continue using his Gold Jade token.
Meanwhile, Prince Jin went to see Suyu who was so glad to see him. He might have come to see her but he does not really ‘see’ her because all he could think about was Jinyan. When Suyu tried to give a pouch she especially embroidered for him, he refused it point-blank, saying that they might get into trouble and be misunderstood.
Episode 17
Prince Yu found out that Jin Yan was going to leave the palace so he arranged to intercept her plan of meeting Prince Jin.
He told her that if she does not comply to what he says, she will pay greatly for it. He wanted to know if she was working as a spy conniving with Prince Jin because she has been looking for the testament.
Jinyan, as a punishment ended up as a close maidservant of Prince Yu she could be with him all the time.
Prince Yu was very jealous. He tells her off for being delayed and accused her of being in cahoot with eunuchs.
Jin Yan said that she does not have the same privilege as the prince and his harem.
Prince Yu told her that he is a very moral man. He treats his harem as just officials. Meaning he doesn’t really have sexual relationships with them. LOL
I hope it gets cuter soon and JIn Yan is not too stupidly willful.
Episode 18
Prince Yu tasked Consort Wen to arrange the Spring Hunt.
Since, Prince Yu thinks that Jinyan was jealous of the harem, he forbade them to come to the hunt including Consort Wen who arranged it.
I think stupidity is catching because Prince Yu decided to dressed Jinyan as a eunuch so she could go with him to the hunt. He just ignored the fact that Jinyan is a walking disaster.
Again, the story does not make sense. At the beginning of this drama, Sujin was supposed to be a little tomboy who grew up trained in the military ways by her father.
And yet in this episode, she had turned into a five-year-old girl who likes bunnies and deers and prevented the hunter to well hunt the animals. Why did she get so excited when Prince Yu said she was coming to the hunt with him?!!!
She almost got shot by an arrow by Lord An when she stood in front of a deer on purpose.
Anyway, the Princess Dowager had had enough of Prince Yu’s willfulness as well. She gathered his harem and they rode to the hunt.
There she said that JInyan should be arrested and executed immediately but Princes Yu & Jin disagreed.
Princess Dowager held out the King’s Jade token and told them that she has the right to the ultimate decision.
Episode 19
Prince Yu begged the Princess Dowager to leave the punishment for Jinyan to him. Prince Jin second the motion.
The Princess Dowager can’t really decline as the Prince Yu was begging and she just can’t push her luck too far.
Prince Yu later visited Jinyan in her tent. Prince Jin turned up as well with a Nine Herbal pill for her wounds.
Prince Yu was annoyed and told Prince Jin to stop interfering with someone who does not belong to him.
As always Jinyang was annoying. Well, she was grateful to Prince Yu for all of two minutes and then she went back to being the spoilt airhead that she had become.
Again Prince Yu is becoming as stupid as her. Seeing that she was starving and he was as well, he ordered the palace kitchen to prepare some delicacies but oh no JInyan said that she fancied a barbecue and she told him that she makes a good barbecue.
They were in the woods cooking a malnourished chicken when Prince Yu asked her when she was going to add the herbs and spices, i.e. salt.
Jinyan realised that she did not bring any but said that they would let the organic barbecued chicken speaks for itself. It would be fine.
The Prince though was not convinced which annoyed Jinyan so she tried to set him on fire. Seriously. when is her legend going to start?!!! I really hope this is not a story of a legendary stupid girl!
Anyway, as Jinyan can’t really barbecue so then ended up playing kiss-chase and run deeper into the forest. He was just about to kiss her and she was ready for it, waiting with her eyes closed when she noticed that Prince Yu was not going for the kill. Instead, he was destructed by the sight of Consort Wen holding hands with Guard Liu.
He was so annoyed that his consort was having it off with another man. Prince Yu might not be bonking his harem but it does not mean his harem can have sex with others. LOL
He was ready to punish Guard Liu when Consort Wen went down on her knees to beg.
Knowing that it might turn bad for the couple, Jinyan tried to intervene but Prince Yu pushed her away.
Jinyan pretended that she was hurt pretty badly so he postponed speaking to Consort Wen.
Episode 20
Prince Jin was shocked how conniving and unfeeling Suyu was. She was prepared to have annoying Jin Yan to be put to death just because she was a nuisance.
Prince Jin was so annoyed with Suyu and told her not to come see him again.
Prince Yu was with Jinyan when they encountered the shrouded Suyu. Primce Yu told her that she was such a hussy and knew where she had been.
He was going to punish her and her family for being badly brought up when Jinyan intervened. She told Prince Yu to be more lenient. Probably the Princess Consort was just taking a walk.
The Prince listened to her and asked her why she would speak for the Princess consort when she treated her so abominably in the past.
Prince Yu transplanted a whole peach tree in front of his villa so Jin Yan can see it all the time she wanted to.
Prince Jin was very upset about it as the Peachtree is important to him and Jinyan. Because of it he refused to go and lead the military.
Meanwhile, Jinyan was asked by Prince Yu why she was hiding medicines.
She was taking drugs so she gets more energy because of her nightly dreams and nightmares. She finally told Prince Yu about her dreams, that they come true.
Episode 21
Jinyan dreamt that she was in the bottom of a dried well when she saw someone hiding a yellow parchment that looked like the testament.
Jinyan related this to Prince Yu which said that she was brilliant for giving him an idea.
Episode 22
The Legend of Jin Yan had reached 1 billion views.
