Episode 1 – 7

I thought this was rather a cute romance, a May December kind of relationship.  The girl is in her 20s while the guy was in his early 50s (though the actor who played him was 49, he looks dashing at times but he does look much older than his real age). Chen Jianbin is actually very charismatic.  Very watchable.

The first three episodes were fun and interesting but from fourth to seventh it seemed to have lost its way a bit, it is too meandering with so many side characters that often you don’t see the cute Li Yitong as Xia Keke.

Anyway, Li Hong Hai is not just a millionaire.  He is actually a billionaire, though he is not the ‘in your face billionaire’ kind of thing.  He is almost anonymous and he can’t be searched online.

With his fortune made, LI Hong Hai was more than ready to settle down.  But he was pining for a woman who would love him as a person and not his fortune.

He thought he found the woman in Xue Ying.  He was preparing to marry her and even bought a huge diamond ring for her.  But something about her made him think that she was not fully into him but loved his money more.

He ordered his assistant/business partner, Mo Heng, to break him up from Xue Ying.

Mo Heng reported that he had no problem telling Xue Ying that the wedding/engagement was off. She took it very well although she requested a breakup farewell meal with Hong Hai.

Hong Hai went to the jeweler to get the diamond engagement to give to Xue Ying as a parting gift.  They had a nice meal and she graciously accepted the ring.  She said that she came quietly into the relationship and she will leave quietly as well.

Hong Hai suddenly thought he may have judged how she felt for him rather harshly.

Then he had to see her to the hospital after she tried to commit suicide by jumping from her apartment balcony.

Hong Hai felt guilty that he said he would like to marry her after all.

Within a couple of weeks, a wedding ceremony was arranged. Mo Heng, who was a lawyer insisted on Hong Hai to make Xue Ying sign a pre-nuptial agreement but Hong Hai refused because he wanted a pure marriage, not a business deal.

Just before they walked on the aisle, a private investigator came out with new information about Xue Ying.  Apparently she had made Hong Hai a guarantor for her jewelry business dated on the day of their wedding without asking him first.  Apparently she can do that as his wife.  It would be a lot of money.  That was not the only thing, her suicide was also staged, complete with an already inflated rescue cushion for her to fall down to and the fire brigade was fake.

He was so upset, he walked out during the ceremony.

On his way out, he bumped into a young designer, Xia Keke.  She was annoyed with him because he made her dropped the clothes she was delivering.

The next time they met was when she went to a bar. There, Hong Hai was so drunk, he fainted in her arms.

She had to take him to the hospital and she was asked to pay for his medical fee.

She left him a note saying who she was and she had paid for his medical, she then asked him to call her.

He called her and they met up.  He gave her 10,000RMB but she returned 20,000 back to him saying that she was honest, and will only take what she was owed.

They started chatting like old friends when she got a reminder that she was supposed to attend a gathering being thrown by the wife of her ex-boyfriend.

During a class reunion, Xia Keke mentioned, to save face, that she has a rich boyfriend.

The wife of her ex goaded her to bring him to her party.

Anyway, the wife called to remind her and would not take no for an answer.

Keke asked Hong Hai if he could do her a favour of being her boyfriend for a few hours.

Keke though said that Hong Hai had to smarten up because he doesn’t look rich. She thought that he was an owner of a bun restaurant.

Anyway, she took him to the shop where she worked.  All the menswear was rather too funky for him.  So he said he will be back and will meet up downstairs.

Keke waited for him and then he turned up in a limousine, which he said he borrowed from a business friend.  He also looked prosperous in his blue suit.

She told him beforehand to be attentive towards her especially in front of her ex and his wife.

The party was a success and all her friends were all admiring of her good fortune for getting a rich boyfriend.

Unfortunately, Hong Hai ended up in the hospital once again for drinking too much.

Hong Hai was attracted to Keke’s bon vivant and zest for life.  He especially likes the fact that she said she will be a cheerleader to his love life. She was sure that there was a woman out there worthy of him.

He just started to dote on her when she thought she had to wean him off of her.  So she did not turn up to their arranged hotpot dinner date,  Instead, she told him that she was leaving town for good. She will be going back to her hometown.

Hong Hai wished her well.

Hong Hai was really desperate to find a woman because his mother ended up in the hospital after the wedding fiasco.  His mother told him to get a girl even if he had to look for her in the street.

He took this command literally and started chatting up girls in parks and streets until an undercover policewoman arrested him thinking that he was the wanted pervert.

Mo Heng had to get him out of the police station.  He told the chief that Hong Hai was the only Chinese billionaire in the Forbes list so this is all a misunderstanding.

Mo Heng convinced Hong Hai to go with him to a reality program called Love At First Sight where they can meet women.

Hong Hai was at first having girls chatting to him but he kept mentioning that he only owns a tiny bun shop and not many girls were interested.

It so happened that Xia Keke was delivering clothes for the show and saw how the women were treating Hong Hai like the plague.

She just has to rescue him so she became one of the female contestants.  She chose, Hong Hai, as her ideal man.

They started being friends again but Hong Hai was put on the spot when Keke suddenly wanted to see his bun shop.

Poor Mo Heng had to look for a bun shop willing to play with Hong Hai.

Episode 8

Mo Heng met Liya at Love at First Sight.

Liya went into the show to find a boyfriend so she could get away from a very persistent married lover.

Mo Heng was a lawyer thru and thru.

He made Liya signed a loves’ contract where they have to adhere to strictly to the letter.

Liya’s ex lover Professor Zhao was once again hanging around to see her so she called Mo Heng for moral support.

Mo Heng, however, was not cooperating at first because it was not one of the days of the week that they contracted to see one another.

But when Liya said she was feeling ill, Mo Heng immediately dropped everything to see her.

Liya, knowing that Prof Zhao was looking was very affectionate to Mo Heng and even gave him a kiss on the cheeks.

When they were alone, Mo Heng mentioned the kiss as contravening their contract and there was a penalty for 2000RMB.

Liya can’t really reason with Mo Heng as it was clearly written in an article in their contract of no touching without permission.

Hong Hai was shocked and asked Mo Heng if he was normal.  How can a full-blooded male fine a beautiful woman because she kissed him?  LOL

Anyway, Xue Ying had not disappeared from the scene.  She visited Hong Hai to talk about Xia Keke.

Xue Ying warned Hong Hai not to get carried away with Xia Keke because she heard Keke wanted a rich man as well.

Hong Hai told Xue Ying to mind her business and stay out of his.

Hong Hai and Keke went to Thailand fora luxury five days holiday arranged by Love At First Sight.
