Episode 1

Zhao Yu Xing was having another nightmare reliving what she saw as a little girl.  She witnessed the people from being massacred by a black ninja.  Then in front of her eyes, she saw her poor parents slain by the same masked ninja.

She would have screamed her head off if someone did not pull her out of sight covering her mouth.

She woke up and more determined to revenge her parents soon.

Zhao Yu Xing grew up with Li Caihuang.  They were so close like full blood sisters.  They are being brought up by a kindly elderly man.

Yu Xing is a bit of a tomboy who would not thing twice climbing a ravine to procure a special herb.  Caihuang, would often beg her to be careful and get down from she was hanging for dear life.

Yu Xing was herb hunting one day when a voice stopped her from taking another step.  The voice said that there was a trap nearby, which she found.

Looking around, she saw the owner of the voice.  It was a handsome boy, who knew he was handsome and told her so.

Yu Xing was not interested though she noticed that he was really buff when she saw him next having a bath in the river.

Rather unreasonable I thought,  Yu Xing did not like him despite him saving her from the trap that would have broken her ankle and then again from the snake which would have attacked her from behind if the guy did not do some balletic move from the air to stand before her and with one hand caught the snake.

Instead, she climbed a tree where he left his clothes while he was bathing.

YuXing would have fallen down from the top branch the boy who happened to be a prince, Yue Zong Ling, did not notice her predicament.

Again she was so annoyed with him.

Yu Xing and Caihuang grew up with Yuwei, a boy who was becoming known for his clay sculptures.

Yu Xing hugged Yuwei tightly when she saw him but he threw her off. He had only eyes for the ladylike Caihuang.

He told Caihuang that he had been commissioned by the palace to create a statue of the past emperor and when he comes back he will ask her to marry him.

Caihuang played hard to get. She told him shyly not to do it but then quickly changed her mind and told him to repeat what he just said.  He went for a kiss but they were interrupted by Yu Xing.

Yu Xing and Caihuang were on their way home when they saw the villagers from Li Jiu running away and with them was their godfather/master who told them to run as the Rebel Army brigade was slaying everyone.  Caihuang got separated from them as Yu Xing tried to stay with godfather who had been cut with a sword by the rebels.

Godfather begged Yu Xing to go and think of preventing her parents.

Yu Xing tearfully had to go.

She was alone in the road when a couple of rebel army got to her but a couple of ninja warriors saved her.

The Ninjas asked who she was, when she said she was Zhao Yu Xing, they raised their swords on her, one even had already stuck the sword and would have fatally pushed it more when Yue Zong Lin suddenly materialised and told the ninja not to touch her.

The Ninjas turned out to be working for Yue Zong Lin’s father who ordered the death of the last remaining of the Zhao family.

Yue Zong Lin said that they should tell his father that they had killed the girl.  He told them that they don’t really want an enemy of him.

And they don’t so they left.

Yue Zong Lin looked after Yu Xing, tended to her wound, and waited for her to wake up.  He then left and from then on, He became her shadow and helped her as she gets into trouble.

As to Caihuang, she was rescued by a minister who heard her cry for help when she was being molested by a gang of men.

Caihuang was taken home and to show her gratitude she took the place of his runaway daughter to become as the new concubine in the palace.

Caihuang was being taken by a sumptuous carriage into the palace when Yu Xing got a glimpse of her.

Good strong first episode.  It makes you want to see more.

Episode 2 – 3

Caihuang ended up as one o the emperor’s concubines.  She is now known as Quiqi.

The Emperor was rather partial to her because Caihuang looked like his favourite dead Concubine Yuan, who was a cousin of the real Quiqi.

Concubine Zhu noticed this and made sure to punish Quiqu while the Emperor was away on a temple trip with the Empress.

Meanwhile, Yu Xing was able to enter the palace with the help of Zong Lin. He told her that they were recruiting at the palace kitchen.

She passed the test.

Concubine Zhu gave her a jade bracelet for the Emperor but Concubine Zhu dropped it purposely as it shattered on the ground.

She then said that she will give a light punishment to Qiuqi and that was a two-day stint as the Imperial Kitchen.

Luckily for Caihuang she et Yu Xing again and prevented her from being beaten and murdered by the senior kitchen staff who had been ordered by Concubine Zhu to really hurt Quiqi.

Yu Zing heard the senior chef talking about beating up Qiuqi and put the blame on Yu Xing.

They ended up locked in the warehouse and the two kitchen staff tried to beat them up.  Unfortunately, Caihuang has the weakest constitution and was hit in the head and fell unconscious.

Episode 4

Concubine Zhu was getting out of control.

She had the head chef arrested and beaten up because she heard that she saved Quiqi.

Episode 5

Yu Zhing had been made the head chef.
