Quick Precis
A terminally ill NSI agent last mission was to escort a human clone, who has the secret to eternal life, to his journey.
I watched this film tonight. It is more cerebral than a thriller or action movie. It tackles death and humanity or lack of.
Min Ki Yeon was a former NSI and was recalled by a top agent to escort Seo Bok to a safe location as his creator Mr Anderson had been assassinated.
Chief Ahn of NSI told Min-Ki Yeon that they had to protect Seo Bok because he could potentially end illnesses and death. Chief Ahn mentioned that he could use Seo Bok to cure Min Ki Yeon’s brain tumour.
Seo Bok is a clone of the dead son of Dr Im Se-eun. Seo Bok is a special clone because his DNA had been manipulated which gave him extraordinary powers and potentially eternal life.
Apparently, he was named after Seo Bok, which was a project of an Emperor who wanted to find out about immortality a thousand years ago.
Min Ki Yeon did not see him as anything but just a normal boy at first but the lab doctor made Seo Bok show Min Ki Yeon what he can do.
Despite this, he treated Seo Bok as a human being but as they travel, they were accosted by some extremely violent forces who treated Seo Bok as non-human, just a specimen, who they can suck bone marrow from.
Because of how Seo Bok was being treated he did not really see the kindness in humans. It was only from his mother that he felt kindness but he saw shot to death.
Chief Han was going to sell Seo Bok to the Americans but the owner of the lab which created Seo Bok had other ideas and had his own mercenaries prepared to do anything.
In the end, Seo Bok started killing soldiers to protect himself.
What shocked Min Ki Yeon was that Seo Bok does not have an inkling of forgiveness and wanted to kill anyone because he believed that death will come to us all at some point.
Seo Bok told minkiyeon that the only way to stop him was to kill him.
So Min Ki Yeon was left with no other choice but to shoot Seo Bok.
Seo Bok said he was sleepy, then closed his eyes, permanently.
It is a very interesting film but being used to so much actions in movies, this film seemed slow pacing.
It is more philosophical than a thriller. It will make you think about how humans can easily lose their humanity to satisfy their own needs.
If you are not into the meaning of life then you will find this film rather flat.
But having said that Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum are total eye candies and that alone is worth a watch!😉😉😉
