The demon king, Dongfang Qingcang fell for an immortal, whose entire family he previously vanquished!

Episode 1

The first episode is quite interesting.  Enjoyable even.   I have to admit I am not a fan of Xianxia but still, Esther Yu is quite winsome to watch as a fairy.

Anyway, the story began with a legend.

Apparently, Dongfang Qingcang was overly ambitious and had decided to not wait any longer for his father to die before he inherits the position of Moon Supreme.  So Dongfang Qingcang killed his father.

This unfeeling monster then commanded his 100,000 Moon Tribe soldiers to burn, loot and kill anyone who do not kowtow to his power.  He led his soldiers to subdue the Fairy Realm, his own Moon Tribe, and the Mortal Realm.

There was a Chidi woman from the Fairy Realm, who is the deity of war.  With all her power, she died destroying the primordial spirit of Dongfang Qingcang and sealed him and his demon soldiers inside the Haotian Tower.

Dongfang Qingcang did not perish however but was tethered and sealed inside the Haotian Tower.

Every immortal knew that it was only a matter of time before Dongfang Qingcang will get out of his prison fortress and spread doom and gloom again to the three realms.

It was foretold that only the goddess of Xiyun can control Dongfang Qingcang’s monstrosity.  The problem though was that the goddess had gone AWOL.  No one had heard of her for thousands of years.

Meanwhile, at the Arbiter Hall where a Peach Blossom Tree stands, lives a young Orchid Fairy.  She is the in-house librarian at the Arbiter Hall and the Peach Blossom Tree is not a normal tree.  In fact, the leaves are books.

They are destiny books of everyone in all the realms (?!!!)

Anyway, poor little Orchid was often all alone because her manager, Si Ming, a senior immortal, had buggered off to the mortal realm to seek psychological help for her alcoholism. 🤣🤣🤣  It was Si Ming who stunted little Orchid’s growth by drunkenly soaking little Orchid’s immortal roots with alcohol. Because of this, little Orchid’s cultivation level was impeded compared to the other fairies.

Before Si Ming left for the Mortal Realm 500 years ago, she actually wanted to cast out little Orchid for being a damaged good but Lord Changheng intervened and ordered Si Ming to allow Orchid to grow at the Arbiter Hall.

Little Orchid was so grateful to the gorgeous Lord Changheng, that she developed a crush on him over the years.

She was so happy to hear that he was coming back to the Fairy Realm.  So she gathered flowers to give to him.

But she was disappointed when she met him because he did not remember her at all.  Still, she can’t stop crushing on him because he did look good in his acrylic crown/headpiece.🤣.

Lord Changheng had a more pressing problem than a little fairy.  His Brother, the Supreme Lord, had ordered that all immortal fighters should gather around Haotian Tower to reseal it as it was pulsating more and more.

Little Orchid was sitting under the plum blossom tree when the leaf of Lord Changheng’s destiny fell into her hand.  She saw that he was going to die that night as the immortals tried to seal the tower.

Little Orchid wanted to help but remembered what Si Ming had told her, the one who changed a person’s destiny will face the wrath of god.

Little Orchid can’t help herself seeing that the immortals around the Haotian Tower are being obliterated one by one.  So she put a mask on and flew in front of Lord Changheng to protect him.

She had some power because she managed to partly seal the tower but she was sucked inside.

Little Orchid was drawn in the middle.  The primordial energy served as the gravitational pull to push her into the lone man tethered in the middle of the tower.  The gravity was too strong she ended up in a kissing trope with the tethered Dongfang Qingcang.

The shock was too much when she woke up she was totally confused as she saw in front of her what she thought was her doppelganger.

She quickly realised that it was not really her lookalike, instead, she had body-swapped with Dongfang Qingcang.

Episode 2

Please note that Orchid had become Dongfang Qingcang and Dongfang Qingcang was now the girly and timid Orchid.

Dongfang Qingcang had body-swapped with Orchid and behaving just like Orchid,

Orchid on the other hand was the cold and monstrous Dongfang Qingcang.  Orchid started hacking her beautiful girly hair which made Dongfang Qingcang scream in frustration and panic. (The real Orchid was rather partial to her long hair which she would braid.)

To punish Orchid, Dongfang Qingcang started pulling his long white hair which hurt them both.

Orchid realised that the last thing she did with Dongfang Qingcang kissed him so having this in mind, she sexually harassed Dongfang Qingcang who got so worried and upset.  He used his energy to catapult Orchid into the ceiling.

They did kiss and they went back to their own body but Dongfang Qingcang realised that he was now somehow connected to Orchid.  He tried to strangle her but he felt the strangulation himself.  So whatever happens to her, he would feel it.

This was rather useful for Orchid because when she was finally able to get out of the Haotian Tower, she ended up in the Mortal Realm where she found herself being led to her death.  She was saved by Dongfang Qingcang who felt what was about to happen to her.

Lord Changhang went to have a little break by visiting his good friend Rong Hao inside a painting.  I must say I like this scene, it was well made.  It really looked like they were inside an almost sepia-coloured painting.

It turned out that Lord Changheng was still pining for Xiyun, who disappeared 30,000 years ago.  Apparently, they were engaged.  All he had left of her was a handkerchief which was his most treasured possession but alas, he just lost it.

Episode 35

Rong Hao was upset that his master, Chi Di Nu Zi, can only exist by sustaining her primordial spirit with evil spirits.

Chu Du Nu Zi who was sent to the mortal world as Xie Wan Qing, would go insane when she needed top up to her spirit.🤣. This was because of a diet of evil spirits for more than 30,000 years.

Rong Hao was blaming himself because it was he who begged Tai Sui, the ancient evil god to keep Chi Di Nu Zi alive.

Rong Hao realised that all of Chi Di Nu Zi’s superego was fast dissipating and her id will take over and make her a complete monster.  All of her memories and goodness will be gone.

Tai Sui said that if he could harness Chi Di Nu Zi’s primordial spirit and her immortal body, she will be set free.

Rong Hao knew that would mean his master will turn into Tai Sui’s puppet.

Tai Sui said that he was ID (see Freud’s psychoanalytic Theory). He is unique. He is in everyone’s heart in the Three Realms.  He is everyone’s darkest desire.

Tai Sui said that Chi Di has an id in her as well but Rong Hao said that he was over-trusting Tai Sui.

Later on, Chi Di asked Rong Hao to kill her.  But it was too late because Rong Hao made a deal with Tai Sui.

When Chi Di tried to kill herself, Rong Hao stopped her.

Rong Hao told her the deal with Tai Sui was the only option that Chi Di could keep her vast ultra valuable knowledge and also the one left that would ensure that he could stay by her side.

Chi Di said that she used to have a mortal heart and turned out that she gave it to Rong Hao. She saved him when he was a young boy.  He used to play the flute as a blind boy who froze to death.

She asked Si MIng if she could bring back the boy to life.

Si MIng said that as long as she accept that he could bring her problems one day.

Rong Hao knew that he was being a jerk for what he was doing so with tears in his eyes, he hugged his master and stabbed her.

Chi Di smiled in gratitude.

They all died🤣.  Rong Hao detonated his primordial spirit right in front of Tai Sui which blew them together.

Dong Fang Qing, the Goddess (Little Orchid), and Chang Heng were together at the gravesite of  Rong Hao and Chi Di.

The Goddess Xiyun said that they have to sort out the havoc that is happening.

She needs the help of Chang Heng.  She had to marry him and they he had to help her to finish Tai Sui once and for all.

Chang Heng was very reluctant to help because it was a suicide mission for the Goddess.  He can’t send her to her death.

But she had made up her mind.

Dong Fang Qing came to see her.  He quietly told her that he had accepted that she was not Little Orchid.  After her wedding with Changheng, he will leave Xiyun but he wanted a favour from her.

He then took her to the Lovesickness Bridge where he and Little Orchid first fell in love.  He wanted her to hang the love lock with him.

Xiyun told him that Little Orchid was dead.

Dong Fang Qing said that she will live in his memory for thousands of years.  Remembering her will be like being with her. He will never be with anyone in this life or any other life.  Little Orchid was it for him. aww

Xiyun commented that she was just a little orchid, nothing special.

Dong Fang Qing said that in this world, he was hated, feared, admired, asked for favours, etc.  Only Little Orchid loved him for what he is and who he was.  Aww

Dong Fang Qing tied the lock on the bridge rail.

Later on, he told Xiyun that he was now living and again wished her a happy wedding.

He looked so forlorn so Xiyun unconsciously lifted her fingers like she used to as Little Orchid and lifted Dong Fang Qing’s oral commissures (corners of the mouth)

Dong Fang Qing was surprised.  He now knew that Xiyun is Little Orchid.

Si Ming told him that he was the only one that could save Xiyun when the end of the end ends.🤣

Dong Fang Qing looking a the life destiny golden leaf of Xiyun, told Shang Que that he will change Xiyun’s fate.

He then went to Xiyun and snogged her.  Then he vanished and turned up at his villa where Shang Que helped him put his acrylic armor.

At the same time, Xiyun was putting a last minute touch up to her wedding outfit.

I must say the cinematography of this xianxia is fantastic.  Well colorised and cleanly made.

Episode 36

Xiyun was marrying a heartbroken Changheng.

Changheng knew that it was not a love match but out of duty.

Dong Fang Qing Cang went to Tai Sui who said he had been waiting for DFQC.

When Tai Sui asked for Dong Fang Qingcang’s primordial spirit, DFQC gave it to him readily.

Tai Sui was rejoicing at first but quickly found out that it was DFQC’s sea of heart that was given to him.

DQFC said that it was where both of them are going to be buried.

Tai Sui harked back saying that DQFC’s sea of heart is not enough to vanquish him.

DQFC said that his sea of heart is special.  Little Orchid had updated it with her signature essence🤣 so the sea of heart is more or less two-in-one package.

Still, Tai Sui won’t just give up and tried to find DQFC’s weak point.

Tai Sui said that if they both die, they would be forgotten.

LIttle Orchid will forget everything about DQFC, she will never remember that he ever existed.

DQFC tried to be strong and valiant with his decision and not to waver.

His effore made his hair turned white and still persevered.

At the wedding, the heavens was engulfed in darkness.

The immortals knew that something was up.  If Tai Sui prevailed the realms will become a barbaric wilderness.

Xiyun saw what DQFC had done.  He took her place.

She tried to penetrate the shield around DQFC.

Xiyun kissed DQFC who had been taken over by Tai Sui.

The kiss made DQFX gives off glaze fire which was the lost Fire of Compassion.

The immortals were surprised and shocked that the Glaze Fire was with the Moon Tribe all this time.

DQFX begged the very reluctant Xiyun to kill him as it was the only way for Tai Sui to be completely eradicated.

So with a heavy heart, she did her cultivation by creating deadly energy which she threw to her lover.

500 years later.

The three realms are at peace.

It is love that is the answer❤️❤️❤️

Despite the many hundred years, Xiyun misses DQFX every single day.  All that remained of him was a moon crescent that fell to her hand when he died.

She hung the moon crescent to the destiny tree then one day she felt something or someone behind her.

“I’m back,” said a handsome Dong Qing Fang Cang.
