Cast

Episode 1

I quite like his drama.  It reminds me of Ashes of Love.  Probably it was because of the flying and gliding over pastel-coloured scenery.

Anyway, it started rather chaotically for Shang Gu.  She and Yue Mi sneaked into to the Temple of Love where they saw men and women shyly pairing up.

Shang Gu thought that she would help them out so she used her fledging cultivation to hurry things along between the many couples.

She and Yue Mi were aghast to find that Shanggu’s interference created mayhem.  Before them, the men started pairing up with each other and the women were grief-stricken.

Then the girls started chasing after Shanggu.  Yue Mi had to vanish them from the temple to get away.

Meanwhile, Bai Jue was teaching the little immortals when Tian Qi turned up.  They had a duel with Bai Jue winning easily.

They were then both summoned by Zhi Yang to the palace.

Zhi Yang asked Bai Jue to teach Shanggu how to unlock her cultivation.

Apparently, Shanggu was rather unique amongst the immortals; she was born with her cultivation vessel blocked by the gods.  The thing is Shanggu is the goddess of chaos and would be the saviour of them all but not at her present state when she is really lacking in cultivation.

Tian Qi who grew up with Shanggu offered to be her teacher but Bai Jue was a true god and the best one to teach Shanggu.  However, Bai Jue was not interested but then Zhi Yang had a manner of convincing people or rather ‘gods’ of what was needed to be done.

Shanggu was on top of a peach tree that grew at  Bai Jue’s courtyard.  She witnessed the queen of snow came to confess her love and admiration to Bai Jue.

Bai Jue did not only turn down the snow queen, but he also humiliated her which so outraged Shanggu.

Bai Jue noticed her and pulled her down to the ground.  She started haranguing him when he threw her back into the palace by the power of his cultivation.

Shanggu was so annoyed and started plotting how to expel Bai Jue from the heavenly realm.

Yue Mi and her connived to make Zhi Yang expel Bai Jue.

Shanggu pretended to go on a hunger strike and told Zhi Yang that he had to make Bai Jue leave the realm or else she won’t eat.

Zhi Yang said that it was impossible to make Bai Jue leave because his martial art is better than anyone.  He told Shanggu instead to go and stay where it was quiet, away from Bai Jue.

Shanggu did not want to leave so she asked if there was another way.

Crafty Zhi Yang said that there was.  She had to learn cultivation and martial art so she could be better than Bai Jue and then she could expel him herself and she could have her revenge.

Not knowing that she was being played, she agreed enthusiastically to learn cultivation in view of getting her revenge with Bai Jue.  She found out that Bai Jue will be her teacher.

So the next morning, she dressed up all queenly and with all her angelic retinue of women, she waited for Bai Jue to welcome her.

Bai Jue was not impressed and with one wave of his hand, he was able to remove her queenly cloak.

He told her that she had to start from the bottom which was to become his cleaner.

Tian Qi was aghast when he saw Shanggu sweeping the yard.

He reminded Bai Jue that Shanggu was going to have her 10,000 birthday the next day.

I love it. Zhou Dong Yu was delicately adorable as Shunggu.  Xu Kai is a gorgeous tsundere.  Really watchable.

Episode 2

I am adoring this drama.  Zhou Dong Yu is truly a very accomplished actress.  She is adorable and ingenious Shanggu.  Xu Kai is also a good foil for her.  One minute his expression is cold and then the next minute he looks soppy as anything while gazing at her.  Their chemistry is just the cutest.

The bromance between Tian Qi, Bai Jue and Zhi Yang is adorable.  They are three misogynist gods.

Bai Jue was telling Tian Qi that Zhi Yang was a bit of a player.  You cannot really judge a book by its cover.  Zhi Yang completely went against the heavenly rules that gods and lower immortals are not allowed to have any relationships but it seemed Zhi Yang had women from all corners of the lower realm.

Zhi Yang shamefully said that he was a changed man.

Anyway, the demon leader Xuanyi had asked Shanggu to come and meditate in a demon dispute.

Shanggu knew that being powerless with her energy blocked, she will be dead if she goes to the lower realm.

Tian Qi, Zhiyand and Bai Jue would not even listen to her input when she tried to discuss it with them.

She was annoyed because she was really the chief god.

The three men did concur that Shanggu’s ‘qi’ should be unlocked and trained in battle.

Bai Jue took her to his Mount Lookout which he would base himself if wanted to meditate and be alone.

Shanggu at first was uninterested to learn but come nighttime assassins from the lower realm came for her and she was forced to run to Bai Jue for help.

The next day, Bai Jue unlocked her energy,  Two things got unlocked.  Her energy and her inner flirtatiousness.

She just grinned as she looked at him and he can’t helped but look at her tenderly as well.

Once her energy was unlocked, she became unstoppable and yet she flirted with Bai Jue.

Hong Ri, Bai Jue’s young assistant was a witness to the growing romance of his master to the goddess of chaos.

Episode 3

Battle with Xuanyi

Xuanyi was the god of chaos before Shanggu.  But Xuanyi was banished and locked in to the netherword because he went megalomaniac.  He had killed other gods for more power.

Episode 4

Taoyuan Forest blind date for the gods and goddesses arranged y Puhua.

Goddess of snow confession again.

Episode 5

Shanggu promised Bai Jue that she will be always with him.  She will not allow him being lonely and alone.  As she hugged him tenderly and he hugged her back.

Bai Jue had a nightmare that his relationship with Shanggu will lead to chaos because it would drive Tianqi insane with rage.

Tianqi said to yuemi to be like brothers.

Episode 6

Snow goddess had a duel with Shanggu.

Parasol Forest.

Queen of Phoenix and Wuxi.

Ren Hao is cute as Wuxi.

Wuxi stole the essence of the Queen of Phoenix.

Fengyan and nirvana.

Shanggu told Fengyan that she could go to Wuxi after Fenyan explained that she loves Wuxi but she knew she was the chosen beast for Shanggu.

Episode 7

Poor Fang Yan had to sacrifice herself for Wuxi, who hurt Shanggu with a deadly Parasol Fire.

The physician said that they need the Water Bead to cool down Shanggu.

Wu Huan wanted to change her fate from a lower immortal servant to someone looking after Shanggu.

Bai Jue went to goddess of snow to ask for the Water Bead.

The goddess said that she would give it to him but she wanted something in return and that was to become his apprentice and be at his side all the time.

As time is of the essence, he agreed.  He used the bead to cure Shanggu.

As a divine beast is still needed to be chosen from the Feng Clan, Shanggu said that she would like to select someone from the lower rank such as Wu Huan as her beast.

Shanggu was livid when she found out that she was to train with Xiu Ying, the snow goddess.

Bai Jue, however, told her that he had to allow it because of the Water Bead.

I am really loving this drama.  It is easy to watch, for now anyway.

I love Dong Yu.  Her ready smile is so infectious.  Love her.  Hope she does more historical costume dramas in the future.

Episode 8

Bai Jue invited Shanggu to dine with him.

She took the trouble to really dress up thinking that it was a date and that he will finally confess to her.

But when she got there, he told her that she was going to the netherworld for a thousand years alone.  He will not be going with her.

She was so disappointed at first telling him that whatever she did wrong, she will be better.

But he said that it was necessary for her growth to go to the netherworld where she could learn and experience so much more.

Annoyed, she left in a huff.

The next day was the selection of an apprentice.

There were new four apprentices and Shanggu chose Gu Jun as he reminds him of Bai Jue.

Bai Jue was a little jealous and tried to stop Shanggu but she told him to shut it.

The snow goddess tried to humiliate Gu Ju.

Shanggu stood up for her new apprentice.  She said that Gu Jun and the Snow goddess should have a tournament in a month’s time.

If Gu Jun loses, Shanggu will willingly go to the netherworld.

The sneaky snow goddess stole one of Bai Jue’s lotus flower.  She gave it to the two apprentices where were not chosen by any master.

The two apprentices used the lotus to attack Gu Jun but it set fire to Tian Qi’s manor instead.

Gu Jun was investigated but everyone knew if was not him.

Hong Ri told Bai Jue that one of their lotus was missing.  He knew who took it.

Episode 9 & 10

Because Shanggu was still upset with Bai Jue, she was hanging more out with Tian Qi.

Tian Qi confessed to her but she turned him down telling him that she had only ever saw him as her older brother.

Tian Qi said that he loves her but not too worry because no matter what, he will always be supporting her as her older brother.l

Meanwhile, Bai Jue told the Snow goddess that her apprenticeship was terminated because she was a sneaky little madam he could not trust.

Bai Jue gave Shanggu the use of the Dark Cave/mount or something so Gu Jun could cure his cold vein and turn into a god.

Shanggu took him there and help him combat with his deadly thunder and lighting tribulation.

She realised how much she owed Bai Jue when she had to suffer her own thunder tribulation.

I am loving this drama.  I was reading some comments in Twitter that some netizens are complaining about the leads but I just could not find anything to fault them with.  They are good actors with loads of chemistry.

Anyway the duel between XuiYing and Gu Jun.  Xuiying was surprised how good Gu Jun was, in fact the other gods were also taken aback with Gu Jun’s prowess.  He said he did not cheat but he used everything he learned from the swamp where he grew up.

As the condition was, if Gu Jun wins, Shanggu does not have to go to the netherworld.

But she announced that she was born to be the chief god and if she does not complete her metamorphosis to becoming the chief god when she will never get their respect or become a good and competent god.

They did understand her reasoning but they were sad to see her go.

Yuemi and Tianqi were missing her.

Shanggu went to see Xuanyi to ask him to create an impenetrable shield into the netherworld so other gods can’t get in or she can’t get out if the goings get tough.

Xuanyi asked as a condition for her to come and visit him often just to talk.

Meanwhile, seeing that the invisible barrier had been put up, Bai Jue used astral projection to watch Shanggu.  Hongri told him that he will watch over his body.

While Shanggu was away, Wu Huan got used to being the queen of the Pilgrimage Hall.  She loved is so much she was not happy when she heard that Shanggu was coming back.

For a thousand years, Bai Jue stayed with Shanhhu at the netherworld.  He secretly helped her when it really got tough.

Episode 11

There was a fantastic CGI fight scenes here with the griffins.

After a thousand year, she has the power and ready to come home.l

The was the birthday of Yuemi.  Wu Yuan was upset that she will always be a servant despite Shanggu being good to her.

Shanggu found out that Bai Jue had his astral projection to be with her which made him weak and his spirit, qi, became low.

She thought that he must like her very much

Episode 12

Oh no, what happened.  There is so much chaos in this episode.

The lovely Tianqi sabotaged the final ceremony for Shanggu by snatching the instruction feather from her.

Tianqi was in trouble but despite what he had done, Shanggu let him escape.

Wu Huan was showing her true face especially when she heard that the Phoenix goddess was about to resurrect,  which meant she was no longer needed as the divine beast for Shanggu.

What Wu Huan did not know was that Shanggu spoke to the Phoenix clan leader and told him that she was quite happy with Wu Yuan and will train her in cultivation.  She added that when the Phoenix goddess resurrects, just let her have a free life.

Episode 13

Bai Jue told Shanggu that Tianqi stole the instruction feather and the three rocks so that he could build the Destructio Formation to destroy the three realms: Immortal, Demon, and devil realms.

When the devil rebelled, the god realm was almost destroyed.  As a last resort, the ancient god created the destruction formation and the one to destroy it will become the most powerful of them all and this was what Tianqi wanted for himself.

Shanggu borrowed the tracking bell from Yuemi.  She found Tianqi soon enough but he had made up his mind to go on his own.  He told her that he was only using her and never really liked her.  He was just waiting for her to become the goddess of chaos so he could snatched the three rocks and feather from her.  He then smacked her in the arm as she tried to get nearer him.

She knew she had lost him.

Bai Jue was so annoyed when he found out that Tianqi hurt her and was ready to hunt and hurt him himself.

The snow goddess was finally able to persuade Wu Huan to be one her side and lent her an arrow that could kill even gods.

Moguang saw Wu Huan and told her to go back but she was not listening to him.  They were going to the Abysmal Ridge swamp to find Tianqi.

Episode 14

Yuemi convinced Bai Jue to give her half an hour to convince Tianqi to stop the Destruction Formation.  She said that she knew him and can do it.

Yuemi did try to convince him and almost did but Wu Huan was able to sneak in and shoot her arrow to Tianqi.

Yuemi saw the arrow coming and covered Tianqi with her body and got shot instead.

Tianqi was going to kill Wu Huan but Yuemi stopped him telling him that Shanggu will hate him forever if he kill Wu Huan.

Anyway, Yuemi died in his arms but before she did she said that she had loved him for a long time and he said he knew but he really see her as a friend.

Meanwhile, Wu Huan got back to Bai Jue and Moguang.  She told them that Yuemi was dead killed by Tianqi.

Bai Jue did not believe her but the destruction formation started revving up again making the stars from the heavens start falling one by one.

Awww sad.  Bai Jue was forced to kill Tianqi because he was going to destroy the the three realm.

Just before he died, Tianqi told Bai Jue that he was making a mistake and one day he will find out why.

Bai Jue found out quite soon after after going through the footprint an imprint which led Tianqi for what he did.

Bai Jue realised how much Tianqi loved Shanggu and would do everything in his power to keep her safe.

Apparently, after Shanggu had become the goddess of chaos she had to sacrifice herself as part of the ritual and final tribulation.

This was the reason why Tianqi had to destroy everything because it was just so stupid.  He can’t comprehend why she must die after going through the trials.

Bai Jue was heartbroken.

Episode 15

Bai Jue spoke to the spectral image of Tianqi who to him so that he was going to regret preventing Tianqi from hijacking the god of chaos title from Shanggu.

Tianqi said that he was doing everything he can to save Shanggu including giving his life for her.

Bai Jue realised that he would do the same so he went to Shanggu and told her that he waited for her but she did not turn up.

She said that she could not turn up because she was busy with the preparation for the next day official ceremony.

Bai Jue put everything he has got to tempt Shanggu to abandon her chores.

He took her to his special place once again and tried to seduce her to stay with him.

But then she said she can’t and she knew what was waiting for her. She knew that in order to say the majority she had to sacrifice herself.  That being the chief god of chaos meant she will lose her life.

She then immobilised Bai Jue so she could get away and that he will not follow her.

The god realm has started to crumble and the other gods were waiting for Shanggu to turn up and do something.

And when she did, Zhi Yang was heartbroken and so did the other gods when they finally realised that she had to sacrifice herself.

Bai Jue was just in time when he turned up before Shanggu started to disintegrate into nothingness.  All that was left of her was beads of her bracelet.

Bai Jue promised that he will not let her die.

Episode 16

The sacrificial death of Shanggu did not mean peace on three realms.

Bai Jue had lost the will to live or do anything until Zhi Yang had forced his way into Bai Jue’s manor.

Zhi Yang had told him that Xuanyi had gotten away from his prison and determined to make Shanggu’s death ends in vain.

Xuanyi had said that he had planned everything.  He knew that being the Chief god of chaos would mean that he would have to sacrifice his life so instead he killed everyone who was getting in his way and made a deal with the demon and waited for Shanggu to sacrifice herself and then he will take over.

All the gods ensured that Xuanyi dies including the snow goddess.  And they did manage to vanquish Xuanyi but afterwards nothing was ever the same.  The three realms metamorphosed into something else.

There were constant fights between the god, demons and the common people.

Sixty thousand years later…

There were only three true gods.

It was the wedding of Wu Huan and Mugguang.

Gu Jun gatecrashed the wedding party.  It looks like he had a relationship with Wu Huan which did not work out and he was bitter about it. He became a single dad to an egg, lol.😝

He said the egg was his daughter, Houchi, with Wu Huan and he had the egg authenticated for what it was going to turn up to be.

A god said that the egg will be a god, a true god.

Everyone was aghast because it would be a fourth true god.  There are only three true gods.

Anyway, in a parallel realm, goddess Houchi was having trouble learning her cultivation.  She was upset about being so dumb.

But during her latest test, she did brilliantly and was congratulated by everyone.

Episode 17

She found out later that she passed her latest test with some help from Feng Ran, her powerful goddess who Gu Jun entrusted Houchi to.

Houchi had a teacher called Boxuan who she misses so much.  He was the one who told her about the hierarchy of the gods.

There are gods, above them are the true gods and the big boss is the chief god.  The Chief God is the one who rules the three realms.

He promised her that he will be back in 10,000 years.  He gave her a bracelet which he made her promise never to take off; with it on her arm, he would always know where she was.

Poor Houchi was finding it hard to wait for 10,000 years, who wouldn’t?!!! 😜

Feng Ran feels sorry for her charge who had been confined to their part of the realm.  She is fatherless as Gu Jun was an absent father and her mother hated her.  To cap it all her spiritual power is blocked, thus her cultivation was almost next to nothing.

Two immortals trespassed on their realm.  They dropped a very important Fire Coral.  When they went back to look for it by the stream, they found Houchi.

They started blaming her for having stolen it.

They were just about to attack her when Feng Ran materialised and sorted them out.

Because of what happened, she decided to go to Lord Donghua’s birthday party to complain about the trespassers.

She was going to bring Houchi with her to cheer her up.

Meanwhile, Jing Zhao, the heavenly princess, heir to the gold dragon clan, was told by her parents, Mugguang and Wu Huan, now the heavenly queen and king to attend the birthday bash of Lord Donghua with her Second Brother.

Jing Zhao complained at first.  She did not fancy going to another boring party but then they told her that the valiant Qing Mu from the North Star was going.

Jing Zhao changed her mind instantly and ran to pack.

Houchi and Feng Ran flew into the neverending blue sky.  After a while, they got to Lord Donghua’s side of the heavenly realm where Feng Ran told Houchi to look after herself while she sort some things out.

Houchi arrived in a marketplace where she saw paintings of immortals for sale.  She found out what others thought of her. They thought that she was a ten-foot squat muscly monobrow being.

She was so annoyed she vanished the picture.

She then found herself in a beautiful huge garden when she became an accidental eavesdropper to Jing Zhao trying to flirt to Qing Mu.

Qing Mu noticed her and asked her to reveal herself.

Qing Mu was surprised to see her.  She looks familiar but he could not place who she was.

Houchi then left greatly followed by Qing Mu who just left Jing Zhao.

QingMu used his sword cultivation on Houchi who got a little frightened.

Qingmu had to apologise to her for thinking that she had mastered her cultivation.  As a penance, he gave her his prized sword.  He then noticed the bracelet which was a match to his.
