Episode 1
It started with the Duke of Qiu, killing all the elite families of Daxing so he gets total power as the supreme eunuch.
At this time, eunuch rules Daxing.
Some of the fatalities are a family with twin daughters. Their grandpa was killed but were they?
A few years, after the death of his emperor brother, Li Yan became the new token emperor, who kowtows to the supreme eunuch.
The new emperor was hunting when he came across Cheng Ruoyu from the Bureau Purple.
Before she could be apprehended, she told him that she was Cheng Ruoyu from the Purple Bureau and that she will be the Emperor’s new sword holder as she shows him her token.
The emperor looked at her and said that she was as stupid as she looked in the picture she sent to the palace.
Cheng Ruoyu was duly presented to the court and officially given the ceremonial sword to protect the kingdom as well as the emperor.
The Emperor is impotent with rage because he was just a titular emperor and could not do anything including choosing his own protector. Everything is controlled by the Supreme Eunuch.
Qiu Yanzhi is the foster daughter of the Supreme Eunuch and had been designated as the Piece Taker.
She brought along the Carefree Pellet for the Emperor to take which would make him a complete puppet; by taking the pellet he will lose all his martial arts for at least six months.
Cheng Ruoyu saw that the Emperor was not being given the option to refuse so she barged in and pretended that she had been busy, hot and thirty; she then drank the carefree pellet concoction herself. She then immediately fainted on the floor.
She was brought to her room and when the Emperor came in, he told her to stop pretending because he noticed that she spat the pellet tea she drunk on her sleeves.
He told her that she was quick-witted but she should not have interfered because what was going on has wider implications.
Cheng Xi, the Bureau Leader gave Cheng Ruoyu another pellet to take that would imitate the effect of the real pellet but with fewer side effects.
Cheng Xi said that this would give them time to work on their plan of attack.
Episode 2
The Emperor felt more alone than ever. He even suspects that his personal eunuch who had served the palace for 30 years is out to get him.
The eunuch said that he was loyal to the Emperor but Li Yan said that his brother trusted the wrong people thinking that they were trustworthy which was why he ended up dead.
Li Yan was suspected of having carried out the murder of the Emperor to get to the throne himself. Even Queen Dowager suspected him which breaks his heart. The Queen Dowager told him that since he was so successful in getting rid of his brother then he should make himself a good emperor.
Cheng Ruoyu woke up unable to do much. The pellet given to her was really potent.
Now she can’t do martial arts but her mouth had not taken a break. She just talks non-stop, to the point that she was spouting nonsense.
She is the opposite of Qiu Yanzhi, who is mature, intelligent, and smart. And the Liyan knows this.
He knew that Qiu Yanzhi could have killed him or made him truly immobile but she did not, in fact, she seems to create opportunities for Liyan to overcome danger.
She knew that Cheng Ruoyu would drink the pellet tea herself to save the emperor.
Yanzhi told the Emperor that she was an orphan and grew up at Melody Arch 8 before she was fostered by the Supreme Eunuch.
Yanzhi saw how people suffered at Melody Arch 8. She had hope that the new Emperor would be more emphatic and work on rejuvenating Xing.
Apparently, Qiu Yanzhi had a congenital disease which was the reason she could not take up martial arts. But what she lacks in Kung Fu she more than made up for it with her keen intelligence and power of strategy.
Li Yan was becoming an absentee emperor. He failed to attend court meetings. The ministers were fed up with his lackadaisical attitude, which is what Supreme Eunuch wanted.
I must say the cinematography was good the cast is gorgeous. Zhang YuXi has the most beautiful eyes and Xuan Lu is so elegant. Cheng Yi is oozing with sex appeal but at this point, the story is rather dull.
Episode 3
It was going to be the 59th birthday of the Supreme Eunuch.
Yanzhi said that they have arranged a grand birthday bash for her father.
The Bureau Purple should do a dance.
Ruoyu said she and the Bureau Purple will not be dancing but Yanzhi said that the Bureau Purple had a dance during the Maple Festival.
Ruoyu said that was because it was the birthday of the then Emperor. She implied that a eunuch even such as the Supreme Eunuch is just a eunuch at the end of the dead. 😜
Yanzhi warned her that such words would reach the Supreme Eunuch.
Ruoyu said that she was not scared. If she dies then she dies.
The smart Yanzhi said that it would not end there, what about her uncle (the Emperor’s eunuch) and the Emperor himself, they had to pay for her thoughtlessness.
Finally, Ruoyu understood and agreed to dance.
During the practice, she mentioned to Cheng Xi that it was a good opportunity to kill the Supreme Eunuch.
But Cheng Xi disagreed. It was not the time. Cheng Xi mentioned to her assistant when Ruoyu had left that Ruoyu will understand later when she got her brain back. 🤣🤣. Apparently, Ruoyu has amnesia, that is why she was having dreams of being hunted and shot by an arrow.
The dance went well but it ended with A’wu going for the Supreme Eunuch with her sword. She would have stabbed him with it but Yanzhi who was wearing a stab-proof vest stood in front of her father.
Ruoyu managed to stop A’wu from going further when she grabbed the sword blade with her finger.
Yanxiu intervened and half-killed A’wu who confessed that the person behind her doing was the Emperor.
Ruoyu was upset that her friend was dying.
Cheng Xi volunteered to investigate A’wu’s action but the Supreme Eunuch said that he would prefer Yanzhi to question A’wu.
Ruoyu said that she would like to investigate with Yanzhi.
The two questioned A’wu who Yanxie said had only 24 hours to live from her injuries.
Awu said that she tried to kill the Supreme Eunuch to avenge her father and family who had all been killed for treason. She said that it was all a made up charge. She then said to bring justice to her family to the emperor as she stabbed herself.
The Emperor was washing his bloody handkerchief. He was so alone and lonely, he started talking to his bloody hanky. He told it that Awu’s family is a bunch of traitors.
Meanwhile, Ruoyu promised that she will thoroughly investigate A’wu claims and subsequent death.
This drama does not really make much sense. How could they allow a girl who is almost brainless, then who lost her martial arts and does not know anything about her duties and obligation to the Emperor and the kingdom to be the Sword Holder? How could Cheng Xi choose a girl who seemed to stumble from one disaster after another who needed rescuing rather than doing the rescuing? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Totally barmy!
