Episode 1
I love the kdrama version starring my favourite Kdrama actress, Kim So Yeon.
I like the first episode.
It was in 2017, Jiang Wenjing attended the Jiutai Group gala where she gave a little recital of Bach Fugue.
Anyway, a certain guy took notice of her. He was Ren Tianyu who was being given the low down on Wenjing, that she is the pampered princess of Jiutai. A company managed by her father but actually by her mother.
Tianyu found her later on the balcony overlooking the ballroom below. He asked her to dance but she was not in any mood to talk to anyone, especially a stranger. She was frustrated that her mother was against her becoming a prosecutor, which was her dream since she can remember.
As he was not getting any joy, he left and that was when a couple of guys started fighting and one of them ended up falling to his death into the ballroom below,
Wenjing became the chief witness and she was surprised to see Tianyu being the procurator for the alleged perpetrator.
Tianyu was so good that what she initially said got so twisted and she came out like a not-quite-reliable witness.
She did not give up on her dream of becoming a prosecutor; she tried to speak to Lead Prosecutor Yin Chuan. She said that she was going for an interview at the prosecution office the following week and he was her idol.
Yin Chuan was noncommittal but Wenjing did not seem to notice.
Now, the interview. Wenjing told them that she was the best in her class and that she has an exemplary memory which she proved to the interviewer including Yin Chuan and Yu Kai Yin.
Still, she came out of the interview feeling like a loser as she failed to impress them, in fact, she was told that she was not prosecutor material.
She went drinking with her best friend, Yao Zhen, to drown her sorrow.
She told Yao Zhen not to call her prosecutor anymore as it might never happen.
What she did not know was that Tianyu, who was sitting not very far away, could hear her.
Episode 2
Wenjing got the call. She passed the interview and would become a prosecutor under the tutelage of the austere Yin Yuan.
Tianyu has some issues with the Wenjing family, especially her father. He was going to use Wenjing to get to her father.
An incident came immediately to facilitate getting close to Wenjing. Tianyu chased after a mugger who snatched her handbag.
Episode 3
Wenjing’s mother, who was totally against her becoming a prosecutor, found her uniform. Her mother gave her a choice to quit or move out.
Wenjing moved out.
Surprise surprise!!!
She found a condo and her landlord is none other than Tianyu who lives across from her new apartment.
Episode 4
There was a money laundering case which involved half-brothers who were both in prison.
Yin Chuan had his team investigate the case and tasked rookie Wenjing to supervise the prisoners who were in the library.
There was suddenly a rumble and poor Wenjing ended on the floor.
One of the prisoners was taken to the infirmary. The prisoner happened to be the suspect. He was widely monitor by Yin Chuan who had Wenjing sent to the infirmary.
The prisoner borrowed her phone which she lent him after he gave her a sob story about his aged ailing mother.
In another prison cell, his half brother received a call. The caller did not know that his half brother was in prison so he gave him a coded message.
The half-brother later gave the information to Prosecutor Yu Kai Yin so the case was solved.
However, Yin Chuan reprimanded Wenjing for lending her phone to the prisoner which was against the rule.
Wenjing was unrepentant and said that if she did not lend her phone the case would not been solved. She added that Yin Chuan had everything under control that was why she did not really hesitate to give the prisoner her phone.
But still Yin Chuan told her that she contravened the rule. Wenjing was frustrated and intimated that she will resign.
She was crying silently by the staircase where Prosecutor Yan Lu found her. He asked her if she was really resigning.
Wenjing was surprised; she said he hopes Yin Chuan forgot what she said.
Yin Chuan actually did not want her to resign but he thinks that she has potential.
Episode 5
Tianyu demanded for Weijing to be his date on a charity auction. But when she got there, Tianyu was occupied by his jealous and demanding boss, Wei Wei.
Tianyu won a glass whale at the auction which Weijing was dying to have as she collects whales parapernalia.
Tianyu teased her of not giving it to her but he did in the end after he kissed her.
Meanwhile, Weijing was transferred into another department to learn more of the procurator service. She was made in charge of the website to bridge the gap between the law and the people, especially the young.
But it was stressful that she had expected as she got a message of someone who sounded depressed and suicidal.
Episode 6
He did jump to his death which made Weijing felt so guilty as she was not able to answer his cry for help.
Apparently, he was bullied at school by seven boys, two of which are now represented by Tianyu and his colleagues.
