Quick Precis
Lu Qiyi is a Straight-A student who deceived her parents with the major she was taking in college. She enrolled in art rather is than in Foreign Studies.
LuQiyi is rather introverted but she had this longing of getting into the entertainment industry and this was the crux of the matter of why she was forced to lie to her parents.
Episode 1
Yey, it has Gong Jun as lead male.
I did enjoy the first episode after a fashion. It has promise.
But I felt that it was cut haphazardly. There are many scenes where you are left thinking, what is going on? Why did that happen? When did that happen? Who is he? How did he help her? Why did she like him?
Yap, the gaps can be offputting but hey it has Gong Jun so hope it gets more comprehensible.
Anyway, the drama started in 2019.
Lu Qiyi went to Southwest University of Foreign Studies with her father on enrolment day. He suddenly got a call and he left after being assured that she could do the rest herself. Her father left Qiyi with a teacher who was showing her the activities she can join. The teacher was checking something but when she looked up Qiyi was no longer there.
Because Qiyi was running with her suitcase to Southwest University of Arts. For some reason, Qiyi ended up on top of the 10-foot tall iron gate of the university.
She was stuck. Then a boy showed up and asked if she needed help.
Of course, she did and she jumped over him as she assured her that he could catch her. He was Du Ang.
Qiyi picked herself up, said a quick thank you and run away with her suitcase.
She met up with her best friend, Bai Qiao, who was also her dorm mate.
Meanwhile, Fang Yan was also studying at the stage school and is a roommate of Du Ang. They are all freshmen.
Qiyi got a call from her parents who wanted to meet up with her headmistress. She told them that the headmistress was busy but they were insistent.
So Bai Qiao had to pretend to be Qiyi’s English teacher. Bai Qiao was reluctant at first as she was not really conversant in English.
They met up in a restaurant where the Fang Yan, Du Ang and the boys were also dining. The boys noticed Qiyi and Bai Qiao.
They tried to talk to them but they just walked on and sat with Qiyi’s parents.
As luck would have it, their teacher called to say that Fang Yan, Qiyi and Zhang Yan had a practice for tomorrow.
Fang Yan later met Qiyi’s mother and rather let the cat out of the bag by saying that Qiyi is very confident at class and in fact there will be a performance presentation during the symposium at school. He then invited Qiyi’s mother who was shocked to learn that her daughter had lied and studying something different from what they were told.
Episode 2
Qiyi came to the school to speak to her. Her mother realised that Qiyi is grown up and capable to make her own decision.
She said that her father would not be easy to deal with but it was up to Qiyi how she would convince him.
Her mother said to prove that Qiyi could become an actress in the next few days.
Her talk with her mother made her late for the performance but even if it was for a couple of minutes, she joined Fang Yan and Zhang Yang on the stage.
Because she looked so random and looked more like gatecrashing a performance, she was booed and told to get off the stage.
Anyway, Qiyi was not really jelling with her classmate because she was intrinsically a shy girl.
The teacher noticed so he made her do the activity with Fang Yan where she had to insult him and make him sounds like garbage.
Qiyi just can’t do it so Fang Yan insulted her, her looks and pretensions to be an actress, etc.
Qiyi was so humiliated she slapped him hard.
The teacher was very happy about the result.
Her friends told her that Fang Yan was actually helping her to emote.
Episode 3
Poor Qiyi was not having the best of time with her dormmates. She feels that Hao Kaixin was using her. Kaixin uses Qiyi’s things without asking and would asked her to buy things for her. Then Zimo was an incarnation of Greta Garbo. She always wanted to be alone, no one must talk to her. It was only Bai Qiao that she gets on with but Bai Qiao would worryingly disappear at night on dates and sometimes would not come home.
They had an impromptu meeting with their drama seniors and Qiyi stood up for Kaixin when they wanted her to prove that she has her period.
Qiyi said she can prove it because she had just been to the shop to buy sanitary pads for Kaixin.
From then own the dormmates bonded and said that they will have ups and downs but they should not take it too personally. Everyone agreed.
Episode 4
Qi Yi wanted to confess to Zhang Yang who she had had a one-sided love since high school but at the last moment, she could not do it despite having all the opportunities.
She got drunk and ended up collapsed on top of Fang Yan instead after the Masquerade party of the season.
Mr Sun announced that the students will meet up at 5:00 am.
No one showed up except for Qiyi.
Mr Sun was so frustrated with the students, he walked out.
Episode 5
The students were feeling the absence of their teacher so they did a petition asking him back.
Meanwhile, the club that Fang Yan started got closed down because their drama practise was rather rowdy.
If this was not enough, Qiyi’s father asked her to meet up.
Kaixin got a fright when she saw a ghostly figure while she was in the bathroom.
