Episode 1
Miki is an illustrator who is known for being a shrine maiden who can detect heartbreak and as such her work is called Heartbreak on a Plate.
Whatever heartache there is, good food is always the panacea.
Miki, however, needed inspiration but everywhere she went, all she sees were couples in love.
She happened to visit a Shinto Shrine. She put 5 yen into the offering box and proceeded to ring the bell and then prayed.
There was another girl who came in. She puts coins and paper money but then she emptied her purse into the offering box and then prayed for the longest time.
Miki immediately realised that the girl must have had a big heartbreak. So she waited and stalked the girl who ended into a restaurant.
The girl ordered Soba Miso which Miki also ordered.
It so happened that the girl wanted to talk, she told everything to Miki about a guy who she thought she was dating, going on holidays where she always pay the bill but she really thought that they were in a relationship.
Then the last time she saw him, he gave her a bunch of flowers to congratulate her on her wedding.
Miki was as surprised as the heartbroken girl but when they started eating their Soba Miso, everything seems to be alright in the world.
The girl even went back to the shrine to rescind her request to make the guy be heartbroken in every relationship he undertakes. Instead, she wanted everyone to be happy.
Episode 2
Miki and her editor, Sato Futaba, went for yakitori and had butabara negima. They overheard a man telling his boss that his engagement is off because his fiancee called the wedding off because apparently she found that there is something off about him which she cannot put her finger to, but she insist there is something not quite right with him.
The taste of the butabara negima seemed to have lightened his mood.
His boss told him that life is like grilling. You have to take the bad and the good to fuel you through life.
