Episode 1
Ling Xiao Xiao was indentured to work as a chef in a restaurant for 10 years. After five years, she plotted to make her boss agree on releasing her from her contract.
She used her skill; she cooked a feast which made her boss want to eat as well. She told him that he could have the lot if he signs a contract.
The boss added his thumbprint without reading the contract. He was too busy eating.
She then told him that she was leaving to try her luck at the palace. Her boss told her that she was contracted to him. She then showed him the new contract voiding the original one.
She told her boss that she intend to be the best imperial chef; when she attained this, he could then advertise that it was his restaurant that fostered her talent and skill. So win-win for the boss.
She went to the palace which was currently in crisis. The Crown Prince had not been eating since he fired Chef Chen. A succession of chefs had come and gone.
The persnickety but starving Crown Prince threatened to punish everyone if they can’t find a new chef that could cook food that suits his taste.
The eunuch to the Crown Prince was pulling his hair out in worry until he met Ling Xiao Xiao.
Xiao Xiao made rice wrapped in lettuce for the Crown Prince who was aghast at how common the food was.
Xiao Xiao was fired on the spot and made to leave the palace. She was jobless, adding to her misery was being accosted by someone from a brothel.
But then in the middle of a chaotic confrontation with the brothel man, the Crown Prince’s guards came to get her.
They said that the Crown Prince ate the rice and could not get enough of it and wanted her back.
Xiao Xiao said she does not want to go back unless her three conditions are met. First, her salary will be increased, second, she rules the Delicacy Kitchen, and third, the Crown Prince must not make any demands, he must eat whatever is offered to him.
When the eunuch relayed the third condition to the Crown Prince, he went mental.
Episode 2
Prince Jin and Prince An had returned to the palace for the Emperor’s birthday. Prince Jin declined the sumptuous meal prepared at the Crown Prince’s Delicacy Kitchen because it was too rich and expensive which he thought does not go well with the poor people he had met in his exile. Prince An agreed.
Prince Jin challenged the Crown Prince to make a one-dish meal that could satisfy both Prince Jin and Prince An’s tastes.
Episode 3
This actually is quite a decent drama. I am enjoying it.
The dissenting princes agreed that the soup catered to all their varying tastes.
Xiao Xiao was able to make the Crown `Prince say that he loves his brothers and missed them when there sent away. He had always planned to bring them back. He was saddened that they were no longer closed.
Over bottles of wine and good food, the three princes made up and had hilarity with a drunk Xiao Xiao who was so unruly.
General Gao, who had been heroically guarding the borders had come to the palace to have an audience with the king.
General Gao said that he missed the hairy crab sauce most of which the Crown Prince had already anticipated procuring.
The Crown Prince gave the hairy crabs to Xiao Xiao to prepare and make the sauce from.
Everyone in the kitchen was excited because just the smell of the simmering sauce was out of this world.
Xiao Xiao put the sauce in a jar and then into a cabinet.
The next morning, the sauce was gone.
Xiao Xiao tried to make a substitute using muddy crabs but it was not the same
Now, who stole the sauce?!!!
So exciting.
Episode 4
Xiao Xiao served silver noodles with the crab roe sauce. Everyone enjoyed it and complimented it except for someone who was from Jiangzhou who said that the hairy crab sauce might be delicious but it was not made from crab from his hometown. There is always one who rains on your parade🤣
The embarrassed king called the Delicacy Kitchen to ask them what was going on.
Mingmei immediately dropped Xiao Xiao in it.
Xiaoxiao calmly admitted that the crab sauce was made of egg because she had heard that the king has problems staying awake during the day. She reckoned that he eats too much fat.
Episode 5
There was trouble in the harem. The Empress was having problems with the noble consort, the mother of Prince Jin.
The noble consort was actually cute and funny. She was so dim, she takes everything at face value and got into trouble for it.
The stress from constant fighting and sniping between his women made the king collapse.
The Empress said that the king had to go on a diet, strictly a vegetarian diet.
Episode 6
Chef Guan has a competition at the Imperial Kitchen. A young chef had been sent by Imperial Banquet.
With a new hand in the Imperial Kitchen, it freed Xiao Xiao and able to return to Delicacy Kitchen which made the Crown Prince happy once again.
