This movie is cheaply made but it has its own charm.
I must say the usually gorgeous Miles Wei was not at his best in the costume department. His hat/headpiece was too bulbous it was not pretty.
Anyway, it started with a preamble that in the war between the Kunxu and Shanggu, the Red Dragons were defeated.
The Red Dragon’s Land of Flames became a demon realm.
Sima Yan, was the last descendant of the Red Dragons and had always wanted to return back to the human realm to carry out his vengeance and kill everybody;.
But to get to the human realm, he needs some sort of Satnav called which is a geographical map which is being protected by the Peach Blossom ladies.
Their saintess was getting old so she chose her successor who was Wu You. As a saintess, she will protect the Satnav Map and seal the human realm from any intruders.
Wu You was from the human realm. She used to be called Qiong YI, the wife of Fan Yi Hang.
The poor couple had a very sad story. On their wedding night, before they could consummate their wedding night, Fang Yi Hang was abducted by the Emperor’s soldiers. All men in their village were taken and sent to the Northern Border to use as slave labour to build stone walls. Those who no longer can work would be buried alive and this was what was about to happen to Fan Yi Hang after months of laborious work.
But then out of nowhere, the Sima Yan used his power to take all the humans from the pit they were to be entombed.
Sima Yan took them to the Demon Realm and trained them in martial arts. The humans became good martial artists and became grateful to Sima Yan for saving them and looking after them.
Their mission was to look for the map so they went to the Peach Blossom Realm where they killed many lady fighters.
Then Fang Yi Hang saw Wu You. He knew immediately that she was his wife. But then she does not remember him and is wary of him despite saving her from his own people.
She cannot remember him because she jumped into the sea rather than submit as a concubine to the Emperor who had taken a liking to her.
She ended up washed up in the ice pool which has the power to erase her earthly memory.
The old Saintess took her into their realm and trained her.
To cut a long story short, the human soldiers by Sima Yan were convinced that Sima being able to open the gateway to the human realm was a bad thing. Sima Yan would wreak havoc and massacre every living thing including their nearest and dearest.
They fought a bitter battle until many of them fell to their death. Then, Fang Yi Hang used a super sword. Between Yi Hang, Wu You, and another human warrior, they were able to overwhelm Sima Yan who perished.
Wu You used the Satnav Map to return the humans to their realm. But Fang Yi Hang chose to stay at Peach Blossom realm to be with Wu You.
Meng Hui, the Princess of the Demon Realm, who has a massive crush on Fang Yi Hang knew that she doesn’t have a chance with him. However, she has a good soul and promised that as long as she was alive, she will not allow anyone to venture into the human realm.
