Episode 1
Wow! Finally, this excellent drama is subbed.
This is a gorgeous binge-fest worthy drama.
The first episode is about the flooding of the Yellow River. It has been 150 year since the big from from the Ming Dynasty.
Kang Zi is the Emperor of Qing Dynasty and was worried of the flooding of the Yellow River which could vanished 6 counties if it can’t be stopped.
The workers who were building rudimentary dams were about to give up as the huge waves just keep coming. It was a thankless job as they had not been paid for a year.
They were just to go en masse when Lord Jin came with some of the Emperor’s men to help.
Lord Jin asked where the River Governor was. He was told that Wang Guanyu left to go home and had not been seen for ages.
This information got to Suo Etu, who was the Prime Minister. He was raging and wanted the totally irresponsible Wang Guangyu to be relieve for his position and made to pay.
His eunuch stopped him in his tirade reminding him that it was the Prime Minister who recommended Wang Guangyu for the job. The Prime Minister asked what should he do. So they tried to minimise the fault of Wang Guangyu. They even tried to get Lord Jin to cooperate with them but he was not having it.
Meanwhile, the Yellow River continued to case great concern so Lord Jin said that they should try to divert the flood by blowing the dam.
He asked for volunteers. The first one to put himself into the picture was Jin Zhi Yu, Lord Jin’s own son.
A few followed suit. They paddled a raft into the waves. It was a suicide mission to blow the dam. Lord Jin’s tears were washed away by the rain.
Finally, Wang Guangyu turned up with the salary the workers. But he told Lord Jin that blowing the dam was a criminal offense.
Meanwhile, in the palace, Royal Grandma told Kang Zi to hold a grand wedding and make an Empress rule the harem.
Episode 2
Wang Guangyu was ready to behead Lord on behalf of the Emperor but the workers stampeded to get their salary. They were disappointed to find that the chests were empty. Before they could revolt, there was a tsunami that swept many of them to their death.
Wang Guangyu was still lucky because he got away and managed to send a letter to the Emperor to blame Lord Jin for appropriating the money for himself and treating the workers like slaves plus the fact that he blew up the dam.
During the morning court, it was discussed what has to be done with Wang Guangyu. The Prime Minister was all for executing Wang Guangyu despite being related to him. But Minister Ming Zhu said that they need to bring Wang Guangyu to the Capital to hear his side of the story.
Someone got to Wang Guangyu and gave him a poison to take. But before he took it, he gave a secret journal to his daughter to keep to ensure the family’s safety.
By the way, Jin Zhi Yu is alive but was looking for his father who was swept by the tsunami. But was safe as well.
Can I just say that Guo Zhiting is gorgeous as Yi Sang He.
