Episode 1
This drama is watchable and intriguing though the female lead can be a tad annoying at times.
Anyway, it started with Nie Sang Yu being cornered on the edge of a cliff by her husband’s guard.
Her husband, Ning Yu Xuan turned up and told her to come back to the manor with him.
But Nie Sangyu said that she would rather jump than be with him ever again. But before she jumped, she cursed him that he will have misfortune and a miserable life.
She jumped and fell into the deep water below.
Then she woke up, totally confused. She has amnesia. Her maid told her that she was rescued; she was going to be alright. She asked who she was, Muxu, her maid could only say that she is Nie Sang Yu and she has a sobriquet of the number one She-Devil of the Capital; she is married to the Number One Handsome Man of the Capital, Ning Yu Xuan.
Muxu said that Nie Sangyu’s present situation was her nonacceptance of her husband’s marriage to Wen Wan. Nie Sangyu intruded during the wedding ceremony and told everyone that she does not agree with the marriage. When her husband ignored her, she saw red and went to stab him but Wen Wan moved to save Yuxuan and got stabbed instead.
Now that Nie Sangyu is awake, she was summoned to see Yuxuan who did not believe that she had lost her memory.
Anyway, as a punishment, he told her to move to the Reflexion Pavillon and sign a confession of her transgressions
At first, she refused but having no choice, she wrote something on the confession note which made Yuxuan wondered where she got such a profound comment.
The Reflexion Pavillion was in a state of unuse. It was so derelict that it was really unhabitable. Her maid was concerned that the villa is not fit for purpose.
Knowing that Muxu would be moaning nonstop, Sangyu told her to go and get her something to eat while she cleaned up, which was apparently unheard of.
When Muxu returned, the place was not bad at all. She was thinking that her madam was a changed woman.
Muxu brought in the food but Sangyu found them tasteless. She wanted meat but Muxu said that she is vegetarian. Sangyu said that she will no longer be vegetarian.
Later that night, Sangyu went to the kitchen to make herself something to eat. She could not believe how much she was enjoying cooking and quite good at it too.
But all of a sudden, the kitchen was on fire from the outside and she was locked in.
Everyone was trying to put out the fire.
Yuxuan was phobic of fire but when he heard the sound of Sangyu screaming from the inside for help, he bravely went in to save her. She fell over him when he opened the door.
Yuxuan blamed her for the fire.
Later on, to relieve his panic attack, he had a long hot bath and it was here that Sangyu found him, collapsed in the tub.
Episode 2
She tried to wake him but he was unconscious. She carried him to his bed and tucked him in, fearing that he was really unwell only to realise that he was actually sound asleep.
She thought about the fire incident and realise that someone was trying to kill her. She went back to the scene of the crime and found the key with a hairpin still on it as a lock.
The next day, the investigation started. Sangyu said that she could not be blamed for the fire because it started from the outside and she was locked in.
Yuxuan said she had no solid evidence but she said on the contrary, she has the key.
Gui Bai, Yuxuan’s trusted guard, actually vouch for Sangyu, saying that he saw her looking and finding the key.
Sangyu put on her Miss Marple hat and started to eliminate the suspect but this prove too stressful for Ban Xia, a maid of Qian Lian Xue, who confess to the crime which is punishable by death.
Qian Lian Xue, a cousin of Yuxuan pleaded for her maid. Ban Xia said that she did not mean to kill Sangyu but the fire got out of hand so quickly. She just wanted to pay her back for her cruelty. she then showed a big red wound still festering on her shoulder which was caused by Sangyu.
Sangyu was shocked at her own barbarity and apologised to Banxia and to the rest of the staff at the manor.
Yuxuan was rather skeptical, he does not believe for one minute that his virago of a wife had changed.
As to the other wife, he reminded Wen Wan that their relationship was a fake one and that once everything was settled, she could leave,
Sangyu really felt guilty about Ban Xia because of the mark on her shoulder, she is practically unmarriageable.
Sangyu said that they had to buy her a scar refining lotion but she found out that she had no money. She was told that she has no dowry because General Nie was against her marriage with Yuxuan.
Sangyu thought of quick money-making system. That is to sell reproduction prints of Yuxuan’s photo/painting/drawing. It was a sure hit with the ladies because Yuxuan was the town’s bae.
Yuxuan found out about it and confiscated the money she made.
Episode 3 – 4
Muxu told her that there was a man in town who said that a woman wanted to have dinner with Yuxuan and she will pay 500 taels.
Sangyu, without thinking about it fully, arranged for Yuxuan to dine with her and the woman at the restaurant in town. But the door was immediately closed and assassins attacked.
Yuxuan was an experienced fighter but Yuan Lang got Sangyu and had a dagger pointed at her neck. She was so scared, she begged Yuxuan to save her.
Yuxuan pointed an arrow at her and shoot. Yuan Lang seeing the jade token hanging on Sangyu’s waistline move to save her and took the arrow himself on his shoulder. Yuan Lang told his men to retreat.
Yuxuan had Sangyu taken back to the manor and in front of everyone, judged her as in cahoot to assassinate him. He said why else would a bandit take the arrow to save her.
Sangyu denied it and said that she did not even know the man. He gave her 30 minutes to confess or else she will get a whipping.
30 minutes passed. Yuxuan did not do anything but Wen Wan who was watching from a distance called the housekeeper and said that Yuxuan did say that if Sangyu do not confess she will get a wallop. Wen Wan said that they should adhere to the order of Yuxuan. Ask Sangyu to confess and then if she still denies it, they use the whip on her.
Sangyu was whipped hard and fast. Yuxuan heard of it but too late.
Anyway, Gui Bai investigated Wen Wan and confirmed to Yuxuan that Wen Wan actually grabbed Sangyu’s hand with the dagger to stab herself during the wedding. Wen Wan was also the brain behind Sangyu’s whipping.
Sangyu was taken to her manor to recuperate but the next day, she was carried by guards to Yuxuan. She gave him her testimonial to divorce.
Yuxuan laughed at her and said women cannot divorce their husbands, only the men can do so.
Sangyu cannot be defeated and started to think of ways to make money so she could be independent. Her scar moisturiser is a success. More than ever, she wanted to leave the manor so she could set up shop in town.
She told Yuxuan that she was leaving the next day but he had his men guarding every doorway and gate.
He then left to go to a bandit hideout. What they found were refugees who were heartbroken for becoming collateral damage for Sangyu’s vendetta against the bandits. A woman with a child was so upset, she stabbed a surprised Sangyu.
He told Gui Bai to look after the people while he staggered back to his manor and into the Reflexion Pavillon. Sangyu saw how badly he was hurt so she started tending to him. He was grateful until she tried to make him take a medicinal concoction that included horse manure. This was too much for him to bear so Sangyu had him tied up to force him to drink his medicinal panacea.

Episode 8
Sangyu did everything she could to get Yuxuan out of jail. She paid a storyteller to hype the good things that Yuxuan and his family had accomplished for the people.
The people then requested the king to release Yuxuan from jail.
Episode 9
The King knew that Yuxuan was set up so it was easy for him to release Yuxuan. But he wanted to know who set him up.
Yuxuan said that the answer may lie in Haifeng. The King sent him to Haifeng to manage the little seaport village.
Yuxuan asked Sangyu to go with him but she turned him down initially. But when she heard from Wen Wan that Haifeng is a happening town where merchants drop their goods, she changed her mind.
Wen Wan poisoned her but Yuxuan was quick to realise it.
BTW, it looks like Sangyu does not have amnesia. She is a different person and only pretending to be an amnesiac Sangyu.
