Quick Precis
Feng Tian Lan was enchanted by a novel that made him decide to pursue this new passion and work in a publishing house as an editor.
He did not take into consideration that he would be assigned as an agent to the eccentric writer, Wang Pu Tao, who told him that he had to meet a set of conditions before she submit her new work.
Episode 1
I have to confess, I am not a fan of this kind of story where a person works so hard and yet had to face many forms of humiliation and had no real means of defending himself.
Feng Tian Lan grew up subservient to everyone.
When he was a boy, he used to play with the neighbourhood kids. They always used him as the seeker in a hide-and-seek game. For three months all he did was look for the other kids without complaining.
He finally grew up; he is ready to face the world. He told his parents that he would like to fulfill a dream he had, to become a book editor.
He was able to find a job pretty easily and was surprised that the salary was not too bad. He did not think about what the job really entails.
He was to work as an intern editor to Writer Wang Pu Tao, one of Top Ten most popular writers.
He was excited to start his job though he noticed that the three managers who interviewed him looked at him rather worriedly.
Anyway, he went to meet his writer.
She was a young pretty woman who told him that sure he was willing to work with him and actually would give him two chapters provided he brings home her car.
He thought this was reasonable… at first.
But after visiting 20 clubs and winebars where Writer Wang would usually go, he did not have any luck locating the car. Instead, he was asked to pay unpaid bills left by Writer Wang.
Feng Tian Lan used his own money to pay almost 80,000 on drink bill of Writer Wang. When he called the office, he was told that it would be refunded after he present an invoice. No one wanted to give him an invoice.
Finally, he was at the last address on his list, again he paid the bill. Afterwards, he just crouched defeatedly outside of the bar. The man who was really in contact with Writer Wang told Feng Tian Lan that the car was in a 6-story car park.
Feng Tian Lan had to walk in front of each car on every floor to find the ‘car’
He was so tired he just collapsed on the ground. It is here where PuTao found him. They were in front of her car on the top floor.
Anyway, she told him that she will change their deal. He has to drive her home and in return, she will give him a chapter a day.
Now, where she lives is not where he first found her. She lives miles away. But then he was desperate to he agreed.
Finally, she confessed to him that she has not got anything to give him because after her last novel, she can’t not write anything despite things swirling in her brain. She had mental block.
