But then she was asked who she was to sleep that night.  Li Shi Hao got excited in finding out that she has a harem.  So she called the first one but he was the Prince Consort.  Same with the next man and the next man and the next.

Lan Ruo, her maid, told her that the Empress decided not to have other lovers but she and the Royal Highness were playful so the different name which when put together is an anagram of Royal Highness.

In frustration, she decided to take in male lovers so she held an audition.  They were all gorgeous but they seemed to have something wrong with them.

That night, an assassin sneaked into the Empress’ room and would have killed her if the Royal Highness did not turn up and stopped the dagger’s blade from reaching her with his bare hand.

It was the Empress’ birthday.  The Royal Highness baked her a cake.  When the Empress tasted it, it did not taste like it was made from Jinning Rice flour.  They investigated and found that the Palace was being supplied with substandard rice,  Their supplier was the influential  Zhou clan who was likely to rebel.

The Empress worriedly asked the Emperor if General Li, her father was a traitor.

The Empress found out about it and got upset with the Emperor reminding him that her father had been so loyal to him for so many years.

The Emperor told her that he was aware of that.  However, as and Emperor, he had to investigate if it concerns national security.

Kong Gu found some incriminating evidence at General Li’s house.

Genaral Li was put under house arrest.

There were skirmishes along the borders so the Emperor had to lead the army himself as he was missing a general.

The Empress refused to forgive the Emperor so when it was time for him to go, she refused to see him.

Still, the Empress continued blaming the Emperor for being an ingrate to her father.

Kong Gu could not take it anymore and told the Empress that she was such a selfish bitch.

The Emperor put General Li under house arrest because he did not want him to go to war because he was getting old.  The Emperor did not want to worry the Empress about her father so when Zhou Jie talked about the General’s treason, the Emperor used it to confine the General to his house for his safety.

The Emperor was the Fourth Prince, just the only amongst the nine princes not vying for the crown.  It was only when General Li mentioned that an Emperor edict named Li Shi Hao to marry anyone of the princes to become the Empress that the Fourth Prince decided to fight for the throne.  And the rest was history.

Anyway, the Emperor was not dead.  He was just in time in returning to the palace and saved the Empress from Zhou Jie’s sword.

Zhou Jie and his army were arrested by General Li.

Later on, the Emperor was ecstatic to learn that he was going to be a father.
